when we use an advanced data grid, only when we click on the parent element the children details get populated in the corresponding columns, right?..SO now i have made the empty columns invisible(at design) now how do i make them visible at run time when the parent element is expanded..similarly once the columns are visible, how can i make them invisible again when the parent element is closed.
I want to know which header the user clicked on to give the currently sorted view. Is there an API in flex framework that I can use to achieve this? Hopefully I can get back a column index so I know how it is currently sorted.
Whenever I add paddingRight to a column in the flex grid, it adds the padding to the header as well.Is anyone familiar with how I can add paddingRight just to the column and not to the header? Below is the column code where I was specifying the padding.
I need to create a table and i need to be able to add data and change the data automatically using values computed by other functions. I was trying to use arrays to create the rows of the table but i dont know how to individually name each array. The arrays have to created automatically and so i cannot name each array manually.[code]but the value for the array is undefined.
In Flex, using AdvancedDataGrid, I'm trying to achieve a drag and drop of one row's column data to another row's column or the same row but different column. Is this even possible? I've been googling for hours and all I can find are drag and drop whole columns just to rearrange their view order.
I'm using a mx.containers.Grid to layout some data, and the last column is a set of checkboxes. MXML Code snippet:[code]Basically, I want the labels & text values to align however the Grid component sees fit. However, I'd like the checkboxes to be right-aligned. I've tried setting the width of the textValues to 100% and it does nothing. I don't want to use hard-coded pixel values/canvases/etc because it is important that this is easy to change/update.
I have a Flex Column Chart that has a range of 0 - 6 on the y-axis. I have added the following block to change the default colour of the horizontal grid lines to black.
This works fine for all but the horizontal grid line at the top of the chart (at y=6). If I change the maximum value for the y-axis to something different then this new max doesn't have the formatting applied (but all the others do).
how do I get the top line to be black like the rest of the grid lines?
I'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.
I am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)
there's a need to select a mechanism, allowing user to hide/show columns in a DataGrid.One of suggested ways is adding a button (which looks like a column header, but with no column). When user clicks on it, the list of columns comes and user may select columns to hide/show. But is there any way to have such column in a grid (just a header with no column .. as example - you may see the grid in Mozilla Thunderbird)?
The other, less likely way, was the popup list, appearing when mouse hover the DataGrid. But this list would be used rarely. So, this flashing list would be just a headache for an end-user.
The ways with mouse-clicking .. I'm just afraid, that they would be left unnoticed and user would have a hard days while using a grids with a dozens columns.
Edit #1Maybe it would be better if I just provide a pic of this magical "header with no column", to escape confusion ..
Here's it .. there's a clickable column-header in a grid, but there's no column under it ..
Edit #2There's some area right above scrollbar in the dataGrid, it might be the right place for putting this functionality .. but it seems like I can't use it.
I have to populate an Advanced Data Grid which have the following fields: Continent->State->Society-->Actual Value-->Estimate Value I want to simulate a financial market so i have to change some of the values by asynchronous request from an HTTPService; If necessary i'll post the .as file, but it is generated automatically by Flex Builder.
Here's the code of the client side Flex/Air application:
I am trying to drag and drop hierarchical data in the same advanced data grid, and I would like the data provider to updated when the ADG is updated. (I want to be able to save and load this tree, so it is important that drags and drops are saved.)
[URL]
The sample app has an ADG showing hierarchical data as well as flat data. The first column of each datagrid shows the rowindex of the underlying data.
If you rearrange the items on the left ADG, the row indexes become unordered. If you click traceTree you see that the data provider is not in order.
On the other hand if you do the same on the right, the row numbers stay ordered even when the objects move around and if you click traceFlat, the data provider is in the order shown on ADG
My goal is to have the data provider order match the ADG order for the left grid which is displaying hierarchical data.
I have a radio button group within a data grid, whenever I attempt to change the selected radio button the web page crashes. Below is how I put together the radio button in the data grid.
My data grid is displaying stale data, rather than the real time data available in it's data provider (array collection). I've tried refeshing the data in the collection, but that has no effect. Below is my code, does anyone see what could be the problem?
I want to display the same data in a chart and a data grid. I want to use the same data provider for both of them to reduce the amount of SQL queries.How do I transform the database structure into the chart structure and into the table structure using ActionScript?*
Is there a way to check if flex datagrid column is empty or not? I tried to search for a DataGridColumn that would allow me to that but I couldn't find any.
I've got a DataGrid in my mobile application (I know, I know but there's currently not other solution for this), that numeric values. Depending on the value of a cell, the text gets colored. My big issue is that this doesn't work very for more than about 5 rows of data. I reckon the issue is that the set text function (in which I format the color) can't keep up with the amount of cell changes and formats the text based on the last updated cell of the row.I thought about a column item renderer so that the renderer only gets the value for that column, and not the whole data of the row.
Just for reference, this is my current item renderer (again, this works fine for few rows, for 5+ of fast changing data, this doesn't work any more, cells get formatted even though their data hasn't changed).[code]I just double-checked and have to revert my previous statement. A single row works fine, the second row already messes up the color formatting though. It seems as if the datagrid somehow throws together the values. Doing the color formatting in the set data method shows the exact same effect;[code]My assumption about the grid messing up the ItemRenderer's data seems to be correct.A simple trace in the set data method (trace("old: " + _oldVal + "new : " + value[column.dataField]);) revealed that somehow, values of the next grid row (in case there are 2) get used as well as _oldVal gets the old value of the next row.
I am working on a grid example in flex using advanced grid control. I know we can easily group data by specifying the field name. At the group node level, other than the gorup name I want to be able to show data in the rest of the cells ( calculated data ) and I am looking for some dataRowBound event or similar to be able to hook some data in it.
Example: Grid displaying list of towns grouped by state. At the group level ( for each state) I want to show the total number of towns in each state. Here how can i show the total number in the town column.
Does anybody tried Dynamic column grouping using Hirarchical/tree data structure in Flex advanced datagrid ? is it possible to create a column header dynamically and so the datagrid column with using certain datafield using dataprovider dat.
