Sep 25, 2007This is driving me crazy, it seems like it should be simple but I haven't been able to find any documentation on it anywhere. I have a List() that I've created and populated with a DataProvider. I want it so that when you click on a list item that item becomes disabled (in the same way you set list.enabled = false). Since I haven't found out how to disable the list, I have something like this which just removes the entry:

Jun 30, 2010I'm creating an flex 3 application with 3 togglebuttonbars. What i would like to do is disable the tooltip of the buttons on one togglebuttonbar. how i can access the buttons on the togglebuttonbar to disable the tooltips?
I don't want to disable all the tooltips off the total application(ToolTipManager.enabled = false;).
I have set the tooltip of the togglebuttonbar to null but it doesn't disable the creation of the buttons within the togglebutttonbar.
how i can disable the tooltips of the buttons on the togglebuttonbar?

Flex :: Flex - ButtonBar Custom Component
Mar 17, 2011I am using a custom component at the top of my application that includes an image and a buttonBar. I have the namespace declared in main.mxml as comps and the package is components. When I assign the dataProvider to the buttonBar and run the application, all I get is a blank page. If I remove the dataProvider everything loads fine. the dataProvider is supposed to be the ViewStack component I have in the main.mxml. The buttonBar and image custom component is TopNav.mxml
The problem is that my TopNav component does not know the dataProvider I am asking it to change; MyViewStack. Do I need to create a public viewstack variable and pass it to the component?

Jan 18, 2011I have created a spark ButtonBar which is dynamically populated with XML and skinned to look like a standard TabBar. When I used the TabBar in Flex 3, the width of each Tab would shrink or grow to the size of the Label, plus a little padding either side. When using the spark ButtonBar in Flex 4, I find that no matter how short the label (even an empty string), the Buttons will be at least 70 pixels wide, and will expand for longer labels. I have tried setting the minWidth to 20 in various places, including on my ButtonBarButton skin, but this has no effect.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Set Alpha Of Individual Buttons?
Aug 11, 2010I have two buttons without names and I'm trying to have the same exact code on each so that you can click the button and it will turn white (or look like it), and click it again and it will turn back to blue (alpha at 100).This is the code I'm using on each button:

Unfortunately it causes both buttons to change their alpha to 0, not just the one that the code is on.Could anyone tell me why this is and how to make it so that only the button clicked is the one that has the alpha change? The reason I'm doing it this way is that I am going to end up using over 600 buttons like this, and I would much rather be able to copy and paste them in rows instead of naming them (I've already spent upwards of 45 minutes naming them A1, A2, B1, B2 and changing the code to fit).

Jun 9, 2009Is there a way to use ActionScript to disable all buttons in a movie at the start of the movie (or at any given time in the movie), and then re-enable them at a certain time? I'm using Flash MX (only version I have access to), and I know how to get to the ActionScript panel and use it for basic things like stopping/playing a movie or jumping to a certain frame, but I haven't figured out much about ActionScript beyond that.
(btw, what version of ActionScript does Flash MX have?

Feb 8, 2011I have just implemented a dropdownlist of checkboxes taken from this ComboCheck example but made it extend DropDownList instead of ComboBox to provide better functionality that I required. I am attempting to create a DropDownList where some items are bold and non-checkboxes (or can be checkboxes) and others are not.
I have not been able to find anything online about doing this yet and have been trying to figure it out. I am currently using an ArrayCollection as a dataProvider but I think this could possibly be my issue and I should be trying to setup the labels in flex not AS3.[code]...

Mar 21, 2012I have figured out a way to change the style of tabs at run time with following logic:

cssStyle.setStyle("borderColor", "red");
But here ".MyTabs" class is applicable to all the tabs between first and last tab. As per getStyleDeclaration javadoc, it only accepts "class selector" and "type selector" not the id selector.
How can I change the individual tab style at run time?
ActionScript 1/2 :: Disable Buttons Under An FLV?
Nov 20, 2010I have designed a website in Flash AS2 and it is nearly complete, but I have one big problem. On my main page, I have a line of scrolling buttons as well as a slide show which also doubles up as a button. All of these buttons link to FLV movies. When clicked, the movie page fades up to cover the entire stage.This is the effect I want and I like the way it looks, but the problem is, all the buttons remain active underneath the FLV as it plays.So if you accidentally click on the movie while its playing, it's still possible to trigger one of these buttons, causing all kinds of undesired chaos!Here is a link to the current swf, so you can see exactly what I'm talking about.
The row of scrolling buttons (the circles) and the arrow buttons at the bottom are contained within a single movie.I must point out that I am not well versed in action script. I have picked up bits and pieces as I've gone along but I don't speak the language

When you roll over "europe1" button, movieclip "europe_people" starts to play and button "closeEurope" appears. When you click on "closeEurope" button, the movie clip "europe_people" and the button "closeEurope" disappears and the globe begins to spin again. If you roll over "russia1" the same thing happens.
What I want to do at this point is if the user rolled over "europe1", I want to deactivate button "russia1" on the spinning globe until the user closes "europe1" by pressing the "closeEurope" button. When the user presses the "closeEurope" I want "russia1" button on the spinning globe to activate again. [code]...
