Mar 17, 2011I am using a custom component at the top of my application that includes an image and a buttonBar. I have the namespace declared in main.mxml as comps and the package is components. When I assign the dataProvider to the buttonBar and run the application, all I get is a blank page. If I remove the dataProvider everything loads fine. the dataProvider is supposed to be the ViewStack component I have in the main.mxml. The buttonBar and image custom component is TopNav.mxml
The problem is that my TopNav component does not know the dataProvider I am asking it to change; MyViewStack. Do I need to create a public viewstack variable and pass it to the component?

May 24, 2010I have a buttonbar that has 3 buttons. I'm trying to set a tooltip for each of the buttons, but not sure where. The ButtonBar itself has a skin, which in turn includes a skin for each of the buttons.

I need to know which property of this button has changed? Jan 18, 2011I have created a spark ButtonBar which is dynamically populated with XML and skinned to look like a standard TabBar. When I used the TabBar in Flex 3, the width of each Tab would shrink or grow to the size of the Label, plus a little padding either side. When using the spark ButtonBar in Flex 4, I find that no matter how short the label (even an empty string), the Buttons will be at least 70 pixels wide, and will expand for longer labels. I have tried setting the minWidth to 20 in various places, including on my ButtonBarButton skin, but this has no effect.

I would expect the mask to be applied when the checkbox is selected, and removed when it issin't. But it doesn't seem to work.However, when you change to , it works like a charm. Can anyone explain to me why?
Note: In my actual application, i'm applying this in a skin to a component that is extending SkinnableComponent which can't use BorderContainer so a solution to this would be great.

I know you can do this with mx:ToggleButtonBar but I want to to use a spark skin-able component (ToggleButton). Is there a way to toggle a ToggleButton on and off programmatically or is there another way I can achieve my goal?

Feb 12, 2011I have a viewstack with two tabs.In one of them there is a data grid shows a list of notes. The other one is includes a form that can edit notes or crates new note. I want the user to be able to add new note or edit existing note when clicks an item in data grid. I mean when user clicks an item the viewstack must become editor.

This only works for mx tabbar. Does anyone know how to do this for a spark tabbar? I prefer the lnf of the spark one. When I try it with a spark tab bar it just disables the viewstack of the tab and not the actual tab. An alternative solution may just be to make the mx tab bar look like a spark toolbar with the rounded edges.

Adobe Flex Toggle A Component Full Screen?
Aug 25, 2010I have 5 components on my Flex application(actual view) and they are:
x = main panel
y = bottom panel
z = left panel
a = right panel
b = top panel
I have a toggle full screen button. When clicked I want the main panel(x) to become full screen. At this point only main panel(x) should be visible. when I click on the toggle button again, it should become normal displaying all 5 components(the actual view).

Nov 2, 2010I've got some buttons that have toggle set to true. I'm trying to re-set the button's state to unselected. But, I can't access the button directly like:
button.selected=false.
I'm accessing the HBox's children which are the buttons. UIComonent doesn't have a selected property.
So, how do I de-select the toggle in this bit of code below?

I don't want to disable the button, because flex 3 styles don't allow me to get the visual effect I need.

I've crudely implemented this by reading in the columns into the right-click menu, and when a column name is selected here, the visibility is toggled. It works, but it's not the most elegant solution.Specifically, I'm trying to emulate the "datagrid" that Mozilla Thunderbird uses to display emails. Here is an image:
In the upper right, there is an icon over the scroll bar. If there is no scrollbar, the icon remains in the same place. When clicking the icon, it opens up a menu that shows all the possible columns, with the visible ones having a check mark next to them, like this:
Also, the scroll bar always appears under this button, never "pushing" it over into it's own column.I'd like to re-create this in Flex. I believe the menu part and creating a column with a button headerRenderer is easy enough. But I can't figure out how (if at all possible) to do this with the scrollbar, because the scrollbar always seems to be "its own column".

I'm trying to import a video (flv) into a SWF container and need to AS functions which should be exposed to JS (using liveconnect or anything else). These two function should toggle sound on/off and toggle play/pause. I dont need any user interface or a full featured player, just these two functions.

Sep 16, 2011I want to disable (and look disabled) some rows in a spark datagrid. I found this answer to stop selection which is greatIn flex, is there a way to capture and optionally cancel a row selection event in a DataGrid?
But I want in addition to show that the particular row is not selectable. Ideally I want to have some sort of overlay but I am not sure if that is possible. My alternative solution is to change the text color to grey for the unselectable row. Looking at the datagrid renders they all seem to be column based. I looked at skinning potentially (overriding the alternating color property) but this just sets the background property and not the text color.
Flex :: Disable Printing In Adobe?
Dec 26, 2009I am building my website in adobe flex(i am n00b). I have some photographs which I would like to make sure that people cannot print.
I do understand that it is not possible to completely stop users from printing. But atleast disable the context menu or just the print option and the copy option.
