Can we skip an optional parameter and assign value to the parameter after the skipped one?
For example I have a function:

I can easily call the function with a message and a title:

Is there a way to skip the title and just pass in the dialogsize? I've tried it but can't make it work:

Is it possible to skip some optional parameters without using (rest) parameter?

In as3, I am adding event listener and then attaching the anonymous function to it:[code]Now this whole piece of code is looped n times. Now, I have n myBoxes and whenever I roll my mouse over the box, it should alert the name. But, what I see is that the last value of count is used by each box. How can I pass parameter or value to the anonymous function? ( as roll over , I believe, expects only one variable)

I'm developing an application in AIR via Flex, but I'm not seeing where I'm going wrong with SQLite (I'm used to MySQL). Parameters work, but only in certain instances. Is this part of the built-in sanitation system against sql injection?

I'm using FlashBuilder 4 beta2. My base class has a function foo():

Literally "foo" so that there's no chance I'm stepping on a built-in method. I am getting an
"Incompatible override" error when attempting to override the method in a subclass:

Does the optional parameter do something "behind the scenes" that makes it illegal to override the method?

I have a custom component written in action script (no UI). I am instantiating this component in an mxml file which is present in a library project. The custom component has a constructor which takes one argument. The library project is used in some other web project from where i pass a variable to this mxml file.[I have linked source of the web project to source of library.].
I have a static variable in my library project which holds the reference of the current object of the project. I need this static variable in order to use properties present in the mxml file. I am unable to use the property sent from the web project in the constructor of the custom component, but able to use the same in some other function present in the custom component.

When I send data with the GET method, the servlet read the parameters and print some infos (to check). But when I send data with the POST method, the servlet recieve the request, but the parameters disappeared.

I need to write a method doing a formatting of numeric value given a pattern as one of the parameter, in actionscript.
For example:
a. 12345.00 using format pattern ###,###.## resulting 12,345.00
b. 12345.00 using format pattern ##,##,##.## resulting 1,23,45.00
Initially, I thought that NumberFormatter able to do that, but after reading documentation, it seems you are not able to accept pattern.
how to implement this ? I'm using Flex 4.1

I have a main mxml file (flex4) and want to pass a parameter (user_name) to a component in a directory called components. When I run the program, the user_name is NOT being sent from the main to the component file. (Interestingly, if you make the component visible, you can see the parameter has been passed).
I have hacked much larger files down to get the following two files:

What is the difference between :
giving a function reference in the result attribute of the HTTPService class like this :

If both of them are same then how can I provide the event parameter using the second approach (as written in the result attribute of the httpservice class)? Which one of them is the better way of doing things in FLEX.

When using as3 and embed my swf via swf object JS, one of the parameters that being transferred to the embed JS function is "base=http://www.mydomain.com" which needed in order to load external widget into application.
Now, am also loading external assets like Styles.swf that placed locally on client side, and when I'm trying to load these assets I get error that they don't found in [URL]
For example: StyleManager.loadStyleDeclarations("Styles.swf");
Error: can't load [URL]
Is it possible somehow to load Styles.swf as local assets??? I've tried use

The second paramter (i) for imageLoaded is always 1, I guess because i no longer exists and is defaulting to 1. Is it possible to get that second paramter to be evaluated when the load is started rather than on complete?
I am trying to read a XML file and check a parameter for duplicates of that parameter in the file. There could be up to 200 entries with this parameter which is a number. How can I check to see if there are any duplicates?

I'm using a PHP script to read an RSS feed in my Flex 4 app. The script works when I put the URL of the feed in the actual script, but I can't get it to work when I try to send the URL as a parameter from a HTTPService in Flex. I need to pass a struct and a string in a web service. I am using a WebService components to do so.upon my search, there is no struct type in actionscript and so I used a class for that one.

and I'm filling it up so that I can pass it on the web service like this:

Upon sending this request, it prompts me an error of Error #1088.

I have written a jquery/javascript editor in FLEX 3 and actionscript 3. It has syntax checking facility. I will write a syntax checking parser either in C or in java. Here, I will include executable file only with flex code. That executable file should accept fully qualified file name as input parameter and it produce compilation result as output, that i need to display in flex.
Please anybody provide suitable solution that how to add executable file in flex, that will accept input parameter and produce output.
I have a situation where I have a List showing a queue of Upload Objects:

I would like to create three different views of the List: One showing All uploads in the queue Another showing only the Upload items with Upload.type == "Update" and another showing only the items with Upload.type == "Create". Another example of this would be on an email inbox, where we could filter "All, unread, or read". I realise I could just create three different lists, one for each view of the list (maybe I'm just being picky) but I was wondering: Is there is any easy way to conditionally select the items to display from a DataProvider based on a parameter (for example type =="Upload") so I don't have to juggle three separate ArrayCollections about?
