Aug 6, 2009I am working on a grid example in flex using advanced grid control. I know we can easily group data by specifying the field name. At the group node level, other than the gorup name I want to be able to show data in the rest of the cells ( calculated data ) and I am looking for some dataRowBound event or similar to be able to hook some data in it.
Example: Grid displaying list of towns grouped by state. At the group level ( for each state) I want to show the total number of towns in each state. Here how can i show the total number in the town column.

Jan 6, 2011I have an AdvancedDataGrid that loads data from a web service. It only loads the top level stuff and then as you click the arrows it gets that data. All I want to do is to find out if some text is in one of the cells. I originally did this:

And then it fails, because it can't get the source, I think. I am completely open to other strategies and I have been stuck on this problem for 10 days now. This seems like it would be relatively easy. I have been going down a slightly different route. I am now trying to iterate through the HierarchicalCollectionView with a cursor. This seems to work. But, when I get the node I can't do anything useful with it... I have been looking for examples but so far they all stop at the point of getting the node.

Jun 10, 2011I had 7 columns in an advanced datagrid and have one comboBox with all of the columns names.The datagrid should show only the columns the use has selected in the comboBox. Does this mean customization of the advanced datagrid columns? If anyone has any samples, please share them.

Repeating the name and amount gets redundant so I would like it to look something like this:
Associate Amount
John Doe 2
Bill Ace 1
Then when you select one, it expands to show the times and customers for the selected associate. I hope this makes sense...I am currently just using a DataGrid but I can use an AdvancedDataGrid if thats needed...I am pretty sure something like this can be done, I just don't know how.My data is in xml and looks like this:

Jul 3, 2009I am trying to set the row background color for the advanced data grid control in Flex 3. Does anyone know if this is possible using a style function. Currently my style function looks like:

Nov 17, 2009I have an ADG along with some other components in a VBox. The number of rows of items in the ADG is variable. I want the height of the ADG to be however tall it needs to be to show all the rows without scrolling. This is because I want the containing VBox to handle all the scrolling. The reason being, is because sometimes there is a horizontal scroll bar on the VBox, in this case you have to scroll all the way to the right to reveal the scroll bar for the ADG before you can scroll the ADG.

Flex :: Adobe Flex - Doing Group By At Client End (DataGrid To Pie Chart)?
Dec 23, 2010I am in a situation where user gets the cars data from the database based on the selection and displays it in datagrid like below ( for example)
Company Model Year No
GM Chevy 2010 10
GM Chevy 2009 5
GM Pontiac 2010 12
Honda Civic 2009 12
and there will be a link next to datagrid to get Pie chart based on the data displays in the data grid . The pie graph should display grouping by company and the count . I mean for the above example that should give with two pie items , one for GM showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 3 ) and Honda showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 1 ).
I thought of getting it from the database by querying and grouping it .But here the problem is after getting the data above in the datagrid user can able to filter at client end ( By year or model ) and can say get graph . This time that should only display the graph for the data visible in Datagrid .Grouping on database for every operation is becoming expensive. Since we have already data available at client end , is there any way to group it at client ..?

Flex :: Update Hierarchical Data Provider In Advanced Data Grid During Drag And Drop?
Nov 11, 2010I am trying to drag and drop hierarchical data in the same advanced data grid, and I would like the data provider to updated when the ADG is updated. (I want to be able to save and load this tree, so it is important that drags and drops are saved.)

The sample app has an ADG showing hierarchical data as well as flat data. The first column of each datagrid shows the rowindex of the underlying data.
If you rearrange the items on the left ADG, the row indexes become unordered. If you click traceTree you see that the data provider is not in order.
On the other hand if you do the same on the right, the row numbers stay ordered even when the objects move around and if you click traceFlat, the data provider is in the order shown on ADG
My goal is to have the data provider order match the ADG order for the left grid which is displaying hierarchical data.
