I have a List, that is not showing any items until you scroll, then the items show up. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried calling list.invalidateDisplayList(); and list.invalidateList();

I found that if I add creationComplete="{list.dataProvider = _xmlList }" It solves the problem.
I have a datagrid with 7 colums. Because of their widths, I have to use an horizontal toolbar.When the datagrid is on its initial topleft position, no problem: if I click on the column0, the returned DataGridEvent.columnIndex is 0. If I click on column 3, the returned DataGridEvent.columnIndex 3, the dataField is perfect.
Now, I scroll to the right (scrollpolicy = auto) and the "old" column 3 is the first column I see now to the left in my DataGrid.If I then click on the "old" column 5, the returned DataGridEvent.columnIndex is .. 2. More than that, the returned dataField is the datafield of the "old" column 2.In fact, it seems the DataGrid forgets I scrolled to the right and think the newly visible top left column (3) is the zero one.
I have a List component using multiple item renderers determined by the itemRendererFunction. When I set the data the first time, it works as expected. Then, when I set the data a second time with new data, it doesn't call the itemRendererFunction and tries to reuse the current renderers even though they don't match the data.Once I scroll, the function is called and the correct renderers are used. I tried calling invalidateDisplayList and such prior to setting the data, but that didn't fix the problem.

I'm working on a flash cards application and am using an ArrayCollection of Objects to store each cards individual data. When the user click the 'save' button, the text from the two textAreas and the 'title' textinput are stored in the AC as one object with .title, .side1 and .side2 properties that contain the text from the flash card. I have made a List in a separate class I want to have display the title of each card the user has created, but after days of researching and looking around, I still cannot get the display to list the titles.

I want to create a list of progress bars and update the list accordingly.I have group data in an Array as

The values in the array object indicate name of group,minimum,maximum and current value for the group (to be used in progressbar).I used the list with "mx.controls.ProgressBar" as itemRenderer as

Now what I need is whenever currentValue field of Array "arr" changes i want to update the progressbar "progress" value to currentValue (where min and maximum value of progressbar are stored in Array "arr").
I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.
I seem to have is that the Autocomplete component that seems to be part of flex extras is not displaying the list of items in the dropdown list. Basically, I get a list of blank items. I know they are there and they are the right items because as soon as I click on one, I get the right text in the combobox.
my Code in the mxml looks something like this

Again, when I type "T" in the text box I see a dropdown list with 3 empty items. Clicking on the third item puts "Test3" in the textbox. But the items themselves are not visible.
It almost as if its a font/foreground color thing, but I've played around with some of those settings too with no success.

I have an issue with Spark Lists whereby I am trying to ensure that an item is always selected and ensure that the GUI displays this to the user.
The application (full code below) creates a List, a Label and a Button. The Label states what is selected in the List. The button removes the selected item. Changing the selection, updates the text in the Label. Important: The List has "requireSelection" set to true to ensure that an item is always selected.
If I select the first item in the List, the selection is correctly reflected in the label. Clicking "Remove" removes the item and the next item is selected. This is all working correctly.[code]...

We are working on this website for a danish jewelry designer, and i wanted the headlines to be a special font, so i made this flash file with a dynamic text field, displaying a variable.Everything worked fine, untill we had to use danish chars like It is very strange, it seems like it works just fine in IE but Firefox is just displaying stupid things like ?? and stuff..check out this link ( make sure to see it in both IE and Firefox ) and notice the top text saying lvringe

The loading screen in the beginning is supposed to use a special font that I've downloaded. I can see this font on my system when I test the live site online on my system, but when I get on other systems (which don't have the font on their system) it displays a default font, usually Times New Roman or the like.
I'm just wondering if there is a way to embed the font somehow so it uses the font I've chosen for it to use.
In my flex application I am using a text area which shows fields name when the mandatory fields are not provided by users. My application has about 30 fields. I am showing the textarea on top. So its hard to see the text area when I scroll down the mouse. I need to show the TEXTAREA along when I scroll down the mouse (it should show in side nearear to scroll button)....
View 1 RepliesI have created a custom multiline item renderer for mx:Tree component. Important to mention that my item renderer has two UITextFields in it. Sometimes (depends of the input data) only one of UITextFields must be shown, so when second UITextField is not needed I hide it and recalculate the height of my item renderer. According to my tests height is calculated properly.The problem occures when I do scroll of my tree. The error text is:
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

I have a main DataHandling.as class that "adds" the data to the AC as an Object, but when I use trace() on the AC from another class, it does not show any values being present in the AC.
I also added some test data to make sure I was populating the AC correctly and that works just fine. I just can't seem to figure out how to add data (text specifically) to the array from another class. (The other file is .mxml)Here is my mxml code (MyCards.mxml):

I have a Flash page that goes out and reads an XML file, then displays the information in it. Most of the time, it works great. However, when it comes to nested lists, it doesn't work. I am using CDATA so that I can use HTML code to display the information as intended. But Flash absolutely refuses to display a nested list correctly. For example, if I put in there <ul><li>item 1 <ul><li>subbullet 1</li><li>subbullet 2</li></ul></li></ul>, it displays everything as if I had made each of them individual list items under one master <ul></ul>.
There's got to be a way to get Flash to understand and display a nested list. It's a simple thing to do, I know it.
I have a screen which is essentially an address screen. Amongst other fields. there are two fields on the screen which are used to enter the region of the user. One is a combo box, the other is a plain text field.
After the user selects their country from a drop down list, if that country has a list of regions associated with it, a Combobox is populated and displayed, with the text field being hidden. If there are no regions associated with the country then the combobox is hidden and the text field is displayed:

I am attempting to use the List component with ActionScript 3.0 to make a different image display when a user clicks each item in a list. I did find a tutorial that showed me how to make different text display using a dynamic text box and the following ActionScript:

...where My List is the instance of the List component and ListText is the dynamix text box. In this case, the user clicks an item in the list, defined by the label value in the dataProvider parameter of the List component, and text displays as defined in the data value in the dataProvider parameter.
However, as I mentioned to start, what I really want to do is make images display instead of text. Can anyone provide me the steps to do this?
the embed fonts stuff in flash, it sometimes works and then again it does not. my problem I need to embed a greek font to be used with the List Component. what I did so far:
1. library-> new Font ( Named it myFont, exported it as:MyFont )
2. put a list comp on stage called it myList
3. got a xml file called index.xml encoded in UTF-8 (so it displays greek chars) that gets loaded (makes no diff if you use component inspector to insert the labels)
4. set system.codepage to false;

what it does not work. I am at a loss as to how to get this to work. I am attaching the file and the font used. (verdana arial should work too, but even they don't embed)
Mabe it has something to do with the xml encoding, but if you try to just copy the greek characters into the component inspectors lable field they are still not displayed. So I guess xml encoding is not the problem.
In a kind of image browser where navigation is done through keyboard's arrow keys, I get the case where the user keeps the finger pressed on the arrow key. There, the list scroll faster and the screenshot doesn't have time to draw that the next item is already called.
I can see that in that case the CPU goes from an usual 1% when browsing "gently"..to about 20% when leaving the arrow key pressed and raging through the list of images.
I was thinking to:
1) Force the scroll rate to max out at 10 items per second
or
2) Only show pictures if key downs are > 10fps
or
3) Find a function that would wait for the last image to be drawn before continuing in the list.
So, to summarize:
- how to skip drawing pictures if the list is browsed to fast...or
- how to force the script to wait for the current image to be drawn before passing to the next item...or

I'm using flex 4.1 to write an application. i read in the documents that has the rowCount property to set how many items to display. the does not have that property. how can I limit the list to display 3 items ?

The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.

I'm trying to animate a list as I delete the top row. All the examples I can find use itemsChangeEffect to bind to the effect, but this property exists only in MX lists, not spark lists.
Any idea how I can get the same effect done in Spark Lists?
I'm trying to remove the top most item in the list with a slight fade out effect before the rest of the items move up to replace the gap.
I have write a simple example that adds a canvas and draw a rectangle with stroke size 20 scale mode none. The problem is that if I call getBounds() first time I will get a correct result but after I call scale(); the getBounds() function will give me a wrong result. It will take in cosideration the stroke but stroke has scalemode to none and on the screen nothing happens but in the result I will have a x value smaller. Can sombody tell me how can I fix this ?
