I'm currently experimenting flex 4 skinning. I successfully skinned most of the components i need for my application, but i can't find a way to avoid this damn blue drop shadow which is displayed when u'r focused on a textfield or a combobox.
View 1 RepliesMy button doesn't have a blue focus ring around it, even though it has focus. I've got a component with a RadioButtonGroup and a Button. After a selection is made in the RadioButtonGroup, focus is switched to the Button. I added click="focusManager.setFocus(myCloseButton)" on the VBox.
After, a radioButton is selected, if the user clicks the spacebar the Button fires. So, as I understand it focus was switched to the button. But, the button doesn't get a blue focus ring surrounding it. How do I get the focus ring? I have visible="false". I turn them to visible, after some effects are finished. So, don't let that throw you.)

i have been searching the internet for a bit, and maybe i don't know what to look for but i know filters have stage scaling enable, not sure that is what i am dealing with but for some reason i can not scale a movieclip that contains a movieclip with a drop shadow filter without the drop shadow acting like the light source has changed, have tried copying the bitmapdata....anyone know how to "freeze" the drop shadow.

I'm trying to get a spark tab bar to have a selected tab that does not change color on mouseover. I'm trying to implement this by working with a skin based on the skin spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin, but despite turning off the shadows on the selected and overAndSelected states, it still shows a dark color on mouseover.

I'm working on a simple auto complete function for my Flex mobile app. For that I've got a CalloutButton that triggers a Callout.The Callout holds some lists from which the user can select items. On item select, the callout gets closed (calloutButton.closeDropDown())The very same behavior is done for a TextInput. The user inputs text, the callout opens and according to the entered text, the lists change. Works fine so far. Now, when the user selects an item from any of the lists, the callout closes. Also fine.Now the issue, after the callout is closed, the TextInput automatically regains focus.On a mobile device this is more than disturbing.
I narrowed this behavior down to the mobile TextInput skin spark.skins.mobile.TextInputSkin) since a TextInput without this skin class doesn't show this behavior.Now you might say just use the default skin instead but unfortunately I can't. The default skin has a bug with Android devices that doesn't pass though the enter event. That I could live with since I'n not necessarily dependent on the enter event, however, the spark mobile skin allows be to continue entering text in the TextInput even after the callout has been opened, which is desperately needed as the lists change according to the entered text.I can't provide any code as the problem has been narrowed down to the skinClass, thus should not be in my own code. Believe me, I tried every nice and not so nice method to prevent the TextInput from getting focus again, but nothing worked.
Edit:Below the steps of my application's behaviour. View 2 RepliesI am working on a drag and drop feature for the sparkScroller. This is sort of how my layout looks:

So when you hold your finger over a row in the items Scroller for more than a 30 seconds, the touchView becomes visible so does the dummyRow. The dummyRow gets populated to look like the row which you held your finger over.
So the touchView has the event handlers for moving your fingers and places the dummyRow where your finger is. The problem I am having is even though the touchView is reacting to my move events, the scroller still keeps reacting to my move events as well even though it's a sub layer. Because I started on the scroller it still keeps track!
How can I remove focus / tracking from the scroller?
I am using a spark list control with an itemrenderer. Whenever I set an itemrenderer's currentState, the moment I mouse out of the itemrenderer, it gets reset to its default state. How can I make an itemrenderer keep its currentState unless I explicitly tell it to change?

The flash component quality is poor.Now I'm at stage that all I try to do is to disable the numericStepper's focus rectangle.I haven't found a thing that works, all of the solutions I came across were Flex related.To clarify : this is a pure flash ac3 project.. no flex involved.

View 2 RepliesFirst i made the images with drop shadows in Illustrator and they looked fine there. When i copied them in to Flash they became pixelated.
I then got rid of the drop shadow in Illustrator and re-made it directly in Flash using the Filter/Drop Shadow property. It still is coming out very pixelated, even on "high quality" setting.
I'm using Flash CS5 on Macintosh.Googling has led me to maybe a dozen tutorials on creating a drop shadow in Flash, so I understand how the procedure is supposed to work. Select the object and then look for "Filters" and apply the "Drop shadow" filter. Simple enough.But it seems that you can only apply a filter to an "object." The things I've been trying to create a shadow on are of type "drawing object." Everything else I've tried to create or import has some other name, and none of them have the Filters menu.I'm embarrassed to have to ask about something that should be (and according to all the tutorials is) drop-dead simple, but I just don't see any way to create a drop shadow in Flash.

View 1 RepliesSo, the good news is that I've got this about 90% solved. Anyway, I'm trying to use TweenMax to have a drop shadow fade up on a Mouse Event (on a roll out). Everything works fine except for the shadow color. I've got it set to black (0x000000), but it's making a shadow that's the same color as the menubar sprite it's trying to shadow.
In other words: I've got a bright blue menu button, and it's giving it a bright blue shadow, despite the fact that I've got the color value set to 000000. Basically, I've got some code to put together the parts of the menubar (size, shape, text, shadow, etc.)

Is it possible to add drop shadow to plan views of vehicles (vehicles are png images as MovieClips) such that as the vehicles change direction along roads (also png images) the shadow is always cast to north west ot the vehicle ? Buildings in the base png image have shadows but vehicles also need them so as to belong to the scene and not appear false.
Is there control over opacity and softness ?
If I were to have plan views of humans walking would the shadows follow the leg movements ?
This probably goes for all programming languages. I use Adobe Flash AS3 and for some reason that is boyond this post, I cannot use built-in dropshadow filters. I do, however, have bitmap data available, with color and alpha values. So there should be a way to draw my own dropshadow filter.... right? Any good existing algorithms I should go and check out? Not specifically looking for an AS3 implementation, any other example will probably allow me to convert the code.

Now every piece of type or image I lay over the grey box also has a drop shadow, no matter what I do, they have nothing attached to them in the filter menu....
View 2 RepliesI am trying to make a xml based portfolio in Flash CS5. I want to use a UILoader to load external images, but I want the images to have a drop shadow when displayed. I tried saving the image with a drop shadow in Photoshop with a .png format. When it was uploaded the image didn't show the drop shadow and had jaggy edges. Normally I use a filter in Flash but the option isn't available for the UILoader object. if there is a way my images can be displayed with a drop shadow, otherwise I will do without.

I've dynamically drawn a gradient background on a little widget I've built (pulls in EPA/National Allergy Bureau climate data from a vendor, if you're curious), and I have applied an AS 2.0 drop shadow filter to the background. Standard stuff...except...
...I embedded the SWF using SWFObject and matching the dimensions of the widget stage exactly. And the left/right edges are cutting off. Are there any guidelines for using a background AS 2.0 drop shadow filter and accommodating the filter with the embed? It's a 10px (5px depth, 5px blur) 90-degree filter, and I left room on the stage for the 10px below the background. But the "edge" I expect to see on the embed isn't showing up.
