I have a list inside a VDividedBox. When the box is resized so the vertical scrollbar shows on the list, it covers some of the itemrenderers. How do I get the list to resize horizontally so that the scrollbar does not cover the renderers?

I have an AdvancedDataGrid that uses HierarchicalData to display data in a tree format. For one of the columns, I'm using an AdvancedDataGridRendererProvider to conditionally display an image if certain conditions are met. I'm currently using the ToolTipManager to display additional information if the user mouses over the image.Here's what I would like to do:Instead of showing the toolTip when the user places their mouse over the image, I would like to automatically display the toolTip whenever the image is visible in the AdvancedDataGrid. If the user scrolls through the AdvancedDataGrid, the toolTip should move and follow along with its image accordingly.

Most items in _systems use myItemRenderer. But if element 3 of _systems is "specialSystem" the renderer would be "specialItemRenderer".
I'm creating a list of scores for a game. now most of the list i need to have the same ItemRenderer. but in one specific row of the list where the user who's playing is listed, it should show different information and with different background color. how can i achieve this ?
I already tried to resolve the issue with states, i created 2 states, one state called 'mine' and the 2nd state called 'others'.
the problems that i got is that when users click on one of the list rows that state changes to i donno clicked or something and that's why i assumed that states are not the right action for me.
When I change the: list.selectedItem.name = 'name2'
then in my item renderer
the dataChange event is not fired! and I can't update the label with the name property...

View 2 RepliesI have a List with textInput as itemrenderer. Initially the list is loaded with data from a data provider. However since the items are rendered in textInputs, I have the ability to change the value of a particular item.
But when trying to access the value of the changed item using the function below, I still get the old value in my trace:

i am using an itemRenderer in mx:list, it has many text fields and combos, i use this item renderer to edit items in array collection, each item in the arrayCollection is of type Action which comes from BlazeDS remoting as a valueObject.my problem is when i add new item of type Action to the list dataProvider (ArrayCollection) by this code
myList.dataProvider.addItem(new Action());
the new item tooks the same data from its previous item.
Is there a direct way to get the item index of the data inside an itemRenderer? I need to display the item number against each item. I am currently doing a workaround and won't allow reuse of my itemRenderer component.

When I load the data from a file, each list item shows the person's name (last, first -- labelFunction), and the checkbox's selected property shows the person's included property. I.e.,Smith, Doug - [x]Williams, Bob - [ ]orris, Anne - [x]However, each person also has an active property. I want to disable the checkbox for people who are inactive (meaning, "you can't include inactive people").to do the same thing in a datagrid. I've wrote a custom itemrenderer for a List component (Flex 3.5) which is a VBox with a Label and a TextArea wrapped inside. All works fine so far but I want the TextArea in the first itemrenderer to receive focus so that it instantly becomes editable when tabbing onto the List. Is that possible and if how would I achieve this?

I am using a spark list control with an itemrenderer. Whenever I set an itemrenderer's currentState, the moment I mouse out of the itemrenderer, it gets reset to its default state. How can I make an itemrenderer keep its currentState unless I explicitly tell it to change?

The thing is, if I scroll the list, and click on an item, it does not trace 'arthur' ! Why is this so ? I must trace that all the time that someone clicks in the list!
EDIT: If I remove change="model.selectSet( productSetList )" in the list, it works!! but I cannot remove that, some suggestions ? How can I switch that to another function?

I have a basic Tree built in Flex. The Tree works fine. I'm attempting to get a list of all of the visible nodes. I know there is a Tree.openItems, but that does not suffice because (for example) if you open all the items in your tree and then close the root, the invisible opened items are still counted.

an ArrayCollection of Numbers;
a List using the above ArrayCollection as it's dataprovider, and virtualLayout=true;
a custom ItemRenderer that shows a label with:
a) the number
b) an y position depending on the number AND the highest number visible
In another words, if I have 10 numbers in the AC, and only 5 appear on the screen, the y position of those 5 will depend on the value of the maximum number for those 5. When the user scrolls, of course those 5 elements change so the position of the label in item renderers will change.
1) How can I get the list of items that are "currently" visible?
2) Which event/method to override will help me know that the List was scrolled/the visible items changed?
In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:

And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.

I'm trying to set a specific list item in a mx combobox to have a custom item renderer, the problem is that I cannot do this via mxml, it needs to be done via actionscript at a later stage, eg: combobox gets created, combobox gets populated, user does other tasks, combobox needs to set one or more items in the combobox to have icons (via item renderer)..
I can do this via the onChange event, but it only applies the icon when the combobox is opened and there is a slight delay so you can see the icon being added.
How do you change the html scrollbar (the one that you see in the far right of your browser) with your own images? I know it's possible because i've seen it before.
P.S.: I am aware of and I know how to change the color of the scrollbar. That is not what's expected. Also i think it's made possible by Javascript.
I'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
