I have a tab navigator which contains the 4 tabs Account, Configuration, System and Dashboard. In the Configuration tab there is a button labeled add new config. If the user clicks this button the system tab should open - how to do this?

View 3 RepliesI have an AIR application with 2-3 DropDownLists and a bunch of other controls. The DropDownLists are bound to dataproviders (ArrayCollections) in a central Model singleton. On launch, they all work fine.
However, when I click a button to add new objects to an object in another ArrayCollection in the same Model, the DropDownLists get weird. They still register clicks, and all other controls still work as before, but the dropdowns won't open. Clicking/waiting enough usually opens the dropdown, but if I don't make another selection it still won't open after closing. Making a different selection makes that DropDownList work again, but the others might still refuse to open.
If I open the dropdowns using Ctrl + Down arrow, they work all the time, so it's only the click that doesn't trigger the open correctly. I can work around the problem by calling openDropDown() on the dropdown when clicked, but that doesn't feel right.
I'm using the 4.1 SDK, and the dropdowns are s:DropDownLists. I tried using mx:ComboBoxes instead, but got the same behavior. Edit: Weirdly enough, using s:ComboBoxes they work as they should, but I really don't want to use them since they seemingly can't be made non-editable.
Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

I've got a drop down menu. I want to click a tab to make it drop then, if it's open, click it again to close. I've tried a million variations on the script below:

This works too (once). So the drop down buttons all disapear again, but it won't re-set. The drop down menu stays up from then on.
BTW i'm not set on this method, it just seemed the most obvious i.e. if menu hidden, then show it, set some variable to down (showing), else hide the menu, set var to up (hidden). Not working though.

and aVariable is empty, label2's text is Null (it doesn't give an error, just "Null" in my situation).What I'd like to know is when I later on change the aVariable's value to a string "hasChanged", for example. The label2's text should also change to "hasChanged" without the user having to push a button or anything to make this change.

I created a Button in MXMXL. On button click, I create a Menu as a child of the Button. I am using an XML datasource. The reason for creating it this way, was due to the amount of custom skinning involved. A popupmenubutton was not an option. Anyway, so my question is this: when clicking the button, the menu is displayed. However, if you click the button again, the menu reopens. I want the menu to close if the user clicks the button a second time. Now, I got it to work by setting a var after opening the menu, and then I check that var on each click to make sure that the menu isn't already open. If true, then it will close the menu, instead of reopening it. This works, until the user clicks away, in which the HIDE event gets dispatched and the menu closes. My hack no longer works.

next_button.swf is as2 and created with adobe flash cs4. there is a single button inside it.
if i change type of button symbol to movieclip at next_button.fla, there is no problem at passing CLICK event.
i tried to cast next_btn to mx.controls.Button and fl.controls.Button classes, next_btn is becoming null in that case.
by the way button is reacting mouseover and click events properly just doesn't pass it to upper swf.
is there any trick i can do to pass Button events to my container swf?

And the 3rd tab contains the combobox with values:"basic", "advanced". by default the vaule is displaying "default". When i select the linkbutton on the first tab, the "advanced"should be displayed in the comboBox on the 3rd tab. and the problem is , when click on the first tab link button , at that time the 3rd tab is not initialized.
