Get Flash To Communicate With A Database?

I have written a flash program using AS3 which allows the user to build a picture of a product using a variety of options displayed in checkboxes. Very simply these checkboxes either make a layer visible or invisible in my flash movie and certain choices may change the list of options. This information is currently being supplied by XML. Once the user has built his product, I would like to be able to save his choices in a SQL Server database and also be able to download his options again at a later date and view these choices at the manufacturing plant.
So far I have tried using asp.net to write to the database and have got the information to the asp.net program by using the querystring, however there may be up to 50 options which does make a querystring rather unwieldy. Also I cannot seem to send back information from the asp.net page to my actionscript.Can anyone tell me how to do this or give me an example? I am supposing that I use the response.write function in asp.net but what command in AS3?I looked into the possibility of using a webservice but see that AS3 no longer supports this as all the functionality is in Flex. I'm a beginner with Flex Builder. I need to get application to communicate with an Access Database. I'm in the planning phase of implementing a Call Log for myself. I'd like my app to run on my desktop (AIR) and as a web app. Basically, I need to document my incoming service calls. My customers will give me an ID number, with this number I can post new service call info, or pull up past service calls and/or display their system info all different tables. How Flex communicates with databases? I know it uses XML, PHP, AMF, etc. Do I have to use PHP to return the XML coding for Flex to read? I'm familiar with PHP and MySQL within Flash; however, it seems that I have to use MS Access for this app.

i want to intertwine php, MySql and flash. so i can make a flash movie display text that is in the sql database and a php script to change the database, php > sql = i can do but sql > flash = i can't do..i want it so the sql data show's in a text box in the flash movie...

Is it possible to create a database driven website using these alone? Or do i need to learn any other technology? If i do then what should i learn? I know j2se for the desktop and oracle SQL/MySQL i finally got the feeling that i need to learn PHP anyway along with css and javascript. So it is fine. Also another query. Which CMS should i consider? Wordpress or Joomla?

I have a database on a server and I transfer the data from it to a web site. So I need to build a flash grid on this site and to load the data on it. But the problem is that I do not know how to do it. So my question is how to build a dynamic flash grid wich is fill with data from a database? Is there a way to do it with action script only or I must do it another way?

Is there any way I can have an integration between Flash AS and C++? Let's say I have created a socket using C++ and multi-casting it to several ip addresses.
On one of the IPs I am running a Flash client. Can I receive the Multicast message (sent by MFC/C++ application) through my Flash application.
Or at least can I develop a Flash plugin (menu item) using C++?

I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website.Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this?
Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.

I have researched this issue all over and most people say use the .refresh() method to update a datagrid after updating or adding a new record. This does not do anything. So, my issue is this. I have a mySQL database hosted I am connecting via PHP, I have 1 mxml file and 2 php files (I know I can use just 1 but I am learning and this was easier for me to use for troubleshooting). The issue is no matter what I change on the datagrid the update does not show on the datagrid unless I close out of IE and reopen it. I can refresh or open the page in another window and the update does not show. I have to exit entirely and restart in order for any updates or additions to show.Here is my licenseTracker.mxml

I am working on a function to generate a form at runtime in Flex based on a call to the DB. The call to the DB returns the field types, id, tooltips etc as an arraycollection, the arraycollection is then parsed in order to ascertain what control to display based on the type field in the array - this bit works fine.However, i am stuck on trying to save the form fields back to the database using a CFC.my form rendering code is as follows but how do i save values entered back to the database? rendering code..

I have updated the mxml code to only show the needed code for the program to run the update.
I am new to Flex and have an issue I hope you all can help me out with.

I am trying to make myself a simple metacafe uploader, and I am using the webbrowser to do that. Everything was working great with loggin in, navigating to upload page etc... I used the HtmlElement and setAttribute/Invoke to click and set the text fields:

Now I have a problem. To upload a video to metacafe, you first need to click on a flash button caleld Upload. There, a window appears to select a file, and after you press OK, the upload begins and you can enter the form information. My question is this: How can I enter the video file without seeing a popup window? Knowing that it's flash . Here is how the flash object looks: [URL] Above I copied only the part from the upload page that it's important to me. As you can see, a simple flash file appears. Now I want to simulate the click/enter of file without showing the file window.

My index.php file loads the Facebook JavaScript SDK and the FBJS bridge:[code]When I run this file on my server, I can communicate with Facebooks JavaScript SDK either indirectly through ExternalInterface calls, launching various Facebook UI dialogs etc. And I can also use the facebook-actionscript-api to launch the same dialogs directly from ActionScript.When I however use this index file as my Facebook canvas url and load the swf in a Facebook iFrame, the communication crashes the application. I'm not sure how to debug this but I think it might have to do with crossdomain security. Any ideas on debugging and/or solutions are welcome.

I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data.I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time.It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety,but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. Moreover, some type of encryption would definitely be welcome, and speed is a large concern
Synchronization: Primarily updates/additions/deletions will be done on the offline database, but ideally I want to have a web interface that will allow the same updates/additions/deletions and will be synced (beyond that I'm not sure exactly how to do it as I can model that based on what is most achievable).I'm wondering if there's any prebuilt engine that could handle the synchronization of 2 databases. I may end up having the web interface only be for additions, which would be significantly easier to sync.. and I may start that way, but i want to build with technologies that will best allow me to implement full online crud at some point.

Here is the issue: a client wants his entire equipment inventory accessible by persons navigating to his jquery mobile site. The inventory that exists on the desktop site was, as I understood, built with Flex. Is it possible to access this database for the jquery mobile site? I believe it is. Cen i communicate to FMS from browser not with swf. For example - by javascript from user side or by C# from IIS server side.
I need to built a live chat application where the swf only get the live stream and show it to the user but all the other logic code that communicate to FMS will be not in the swf and not in some *.exe file.
I need this because this live chat appliction will have to work on apple ipad and iphone soon when FMS will be able to stream to those devices and i will have to abandon the swf anyway.

I'm developing an interactive system where two client flash apps will talk to a third server app. The clients will be sending some status information to the server. I think I need two way communication...haven't decided whether the server needs to send back any acknowledgements yet.
These will be applications and not .swfs that run in a browser.So far the only method that I see are to make the server an AIR app (b/c AIR has a Server Socket class) and make the clients Flash projectors (b/c Flash has a Sockets class).
Are there other methods that I can use connect my apps together? These 3 machines will basically be living a few feet from each other and they will be on their own dedicated network.The machines will live within their own little private network. They won't be accessing the outside world.

Does anybody know a way for a swf file to communicate with the site its placed in. What I mean is I have a flash file with a start up screen in it, which has a tick box saying "Don't show this screen again" which skips to the sites content when tick, the same as what some adobe applications have when first started up. I think this might be able to be done using sharedObjects? But what I can't do is re-activate the start up screen from outside of the flash file. Is sharedObjects the way to go?

With normal Flash SWF's I use URLRequest to communicate with external servers/sites to send/retreive data from a database - pretty standard stuff. But can iPhone apps published from the CS5 environment communicate with external servers/sites?I'm still organising my development license for the iphone, so want to check before I fork out the money for the registration.
