Javascript :: Dynamic And Gapless Playlist Of Videos?

I would like to show a video on a website made of a dynamic list of smaller videos.For instance, the video would consist of 10 smaller videos (1, 2, 3, 4...), and each of them could be different (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D... 2A, 2B, 2C... 3A). So the result would be 1C-2B-3F-4A...As you imagine, pregenerating all possible combinations would involve creating thousands of them so the idea is keeping it dynamic.It is important that there are no gaps between them so they feel as one.Options I'm considering:
- Preloaded movies on Flash (AS3)
- Preloaded video elements on HTML5 (and some JS)
- Using Youtube's API (to use their bandwidth)
- Any of the above with some speed-aware caching

hi, im trying to make a playlist of videos in as3 that stream from youtube.i found some code that makes a playlist of flv's but when i tried adding the whole netconnection netstream code in i cant get the videos to play This is the code as it stands with my modifications. IT DOES NOT WORK.

As stated above, I wanted to know if I can take a video playlist, say with 4 clips, and have FMIS create a separate file out of the 4 individual clips. Specifically, a user selects 4 (or any number) of clips to create their playlist, then at the end, a 'full length' file is created. If this isn't clear, let me know and I'll try to elaborate.

So I've built a player to play playlists and it uses my own DynamicStream class (not the abobe one). I've ran into an issue with playing the same video multiple times. In this app there will be many occassions when a video may be repeated in the playlist up to 3 times. Here's an example of the problem:
Lets say I have 2 videos in a playlist and they are the exact same video. They both are the low birate version. The fist video dynamically swiches to different bitrates seamlesly as planned. If I fast forward the stream to the begining of the second video it starts playing and if my bandwith is ok it wants to switch to a better bitrate. It swiches but instead of being seemless it plays the second video from the begining again. So, I'm thinking this is where oldStreamName comes in. So I add the oldSteamName and make sure its correct, but the problem with that is if the same video is in playlist more than once then the transition never even happens.

There are cases where shipping javascript code with your flash video is not an option. One of these cases is when you've bought space on a website to place your ad banner. In those cases I want to use the 1x1 pixel image tracking method on Google Analytics or Yahoo Web Analytics to track the amount of views on my banner.I have heard that flash blocks any attempt to load data from a third party host (frankly I don't see why they would do that) which presents a problem. I would love a solution.I can picture several methods and their downsides.I could host the banner on my own server, counting the downloads. Unfortunately this would prove to be a tremendous load on my server when possibly millions of downloads would happen per day.
I could write a PHP script, hosting it on my own server, that when requested tracks a page view in GA or YWA. I could place a crossdomain.xml file on my server allowing the flash banner to request my script using a Loader. Unfortunately, the problem of server load still exists as my private server probably can't handle millions of requests per day.Possible solutions are other tracking hosts that allow for flash cross domain file requests, or perhaps a method I haven't thought of.The challenge here is to be able to track the number of views on a flash video without using any javascript. The problem is the sheer amount of load this would put on my own servers if I were to track using my server as a proxy. The best solution would be a tracking service using crossdomain.xml

YouTube achieved quite a feat when they made youtube videos work with cache. However, this is causing a problem on my ajax site and would like to know if there is a way to disable youtube videos being cached. Especially in Internet Explorer.
I cannot disable caching for the whole page as I need caching to work for images and other content for speed reasons.

I'm trying to brainstorm ideas on a site I'm managing. [URL]. (Once the page loads, click on "The Fixx" menu option). On this page, I have a list of radio shows that this DJ has produced. It's a compilation of songs that he posts up twice a week roughly. Currently the way it's setup... is you can click the button and it opens a pop up window with a player that plays the corresponding file. However... I want to be able to have a window open up that has a playlist of the songs contained in that mixshow in the bottom (Not something they will be able to click on to go to a particular song, just something that tells them what is on this show) and the player at the top. I also would like the capability of dragging through the song so they don't have to listen to the whole thing. Currently it's abit cumbersome, and I know it'll drive more viewers if I add playlist functionality.

I need to create a dynamic movie player in the flash website, i tried Import Video... (File > Import >) , then i put a relative URL of xml file (e.g. xspf.xml) under the "Already deployed on web server..." option. but the video doesn't show nothing at all.

I've watched the tutorial on how to build an XML Video Playlist using the UI List Component. I'm wondering if there's a way instead to use a dynamic text box, or some other solution that doesn't require a component. I have a video object and a dynamic text box that successfully loads a videolist.xml file, and displays the contents (title, location, date) for each <video> node, separated by line breaks. Now I'd like to make the contents of each <video> node a link, which loads a new movie into the player. If this can't be done with a dynamic text box, can it be done some other way, not involving the use of a component?

I am trying to create a dynamic xml driven video playlist, that will display the thumbnail, title and time duration of the video (quite similar to the one on youtube). But I don't know where to begin and I have been googling for some helpful tutorials but cant find anything resourceful.if I shall use the Flash component for scrolling purpose or I shall learn to develop my own scroller with scrollbar.

I have got a dynamic video playlist using xml that was built using url...and it works great.I want to add a simple login page to frame 1 using simple text variables and have used url... I currently have a onClick event that resets my videos, but this 'reloads' them, is there a way to pause them or stop them without resetting them? <a href="#" onClick='resetVideo("vid1");resetVideo("vid3");return false;'> I currently have this event firing on a navigation button, but it fires every time its clicked (obviously), I really only want to stop a video if its playing - is that possible?

I've discovered that you can disable annotations on embedded YouTube videos by adding the parameter &iv_load_policy=3 to the url in the embed code.
Example:

I'm doing a project like youtube. After some try, I can run FMS, dynamic playlist and flowplayer (I think this is what I need, am I right?) However, when I try to combine them, I discover a lot of problems. I follow this [URL] beginner_dynstre am_fms.html to learn about FMS, this [URL] to learn about dynamic playlist, this [URL] to learn about flowplayer. In the tutorial, the dynamic playlist cant run with FMS (even the tutorial says can, but when I try it, it cant!), and it is using Flash and as(AS3), the flowplayer is using html and js, I really cont know how to combine these 3 things together.

I had problems covering videos on Youtube itself but solved that with a design change (don't need to cover them any more).
So I have a script the user can run and it calls a javascript file to do other stuff on the current webpage. One thing it does is bring up a lightbox that covers the page. Of course it won't cover embedded Youtube videos and so I need to do a few changes. I did the necessary changes and it didn't work. I kept trying and trying and eventually made a page with just an embedded video and a .jpg (my script won't run if there are no images).
I looked to see what the Pinterest script added to the embedded video portion and while it was almost identical they did have an autoplay=0 in there so I added it just so I could see for myself that it is exactly the same. If I run the Pinterest script and close it, then run mine, mine works fine. If I run mine, then the Pinterest script, then mine again, mine works. So I believe this means I'm not adding anything that tells the page "Go ahead and put the video on top anyway."

I want to create a custom video player to modify the skin of the play controls etc but still host the videos on youtube.The youtube api allows for minor colour adjustments but not full customisation. I know it would be possible if I download the FLVs but i want the video to remain hosted on youtube.

I am developing an animated homepage for a Flash-HTML hybrid website, and for the sake of standards, my solution is proving difficult.
Here is the run-down:
For Flash users, HTML page loads a variable-height AS3 Flash movie that will start at 556 pixels high, and after finishing its animation sequence, tween via Actionscript + JavaScript to 250 pixels high.
To kick off this movie sequence -- (below-left) -- I am attempting to set the initial height of the Flash movie via MooTools, so if users do not have Flash or Javascript enabled, they will see the shorter-height image area with alternative image content and HTML content revealed (below-right).
Element.setStyle sets the height just fine until swfObject runs, at which point the movie collapses since I am not specifying a height via CSS. If users do not have Flash, it defaults to the height of a static image.
So here is my question: Does anyone know how to dynamically pass a height variable to swfobject when it is set up to width/height @ 100%? Am I killing myself for no reason trying to work with two page heights?

I am trying to make a dynamic text box with a javascript popup menu command on bits of the text. I have looked through many tutorials and searched this forum and have not found what I am looking for so I had to ask... at the moment my code for the text in flash is:

I get actionscript errors on the tempURL becuase there are too many quoteation marks, not sure how to overcome this problem...i dont even know if what i am doing is possible. I have made the text box on the stage do HTML tags but i cant set the tempURL up right. I have a workaround which just involes me putting the text directly on the screen it's just that I wont always be able to do that...basically if it can be done this way it'd be grand!

There will be a "pool" of SWF files- I would like to create a "shell" swf that will load an external XML file that will determine which of the files in the "pool" the shell will play. I guess this would be called an XML-driven SWF playlist.Forgive me if my terminology is rather primitive- again, I'm new to XML (I'm an animator by trade.)
