View 1 RepliesI'm wondering how I can display an Open File dialog box, select a text file, put the contents of the text file into a textarea component via a button... I'm not really used to Flex so I don't know where to start or exactly how I'd go about doing it? I'm doing this for an Air application.
View 1 RepliesIn my flex application I have several pop ups, when a pop up is opened the application is disabled and enabled back when the pop up is closed.Is there way to get application's enabled / disabled event and perform some activity like hiding a display object.I know, I can get open and close event of the pop up but I don't want to write it for all the pop ups and pay for maintainability.
PS: I am using PopUpManager to create pop ups.
However I'm trying to open attachments in flex application. Is it possible?
View 3 RepliesI have a main contents page and what I want to do is when the user click the button for a section then the relevant swf will load whilst the contents page closes. If this can't be done then is there a way to just get the relevant swf to open up in a new flash window?
I have done the following:
PercentageOfAQuantityBtn.addEventListener(MouseEve nt.CLICK, GoPercentageOfAQuantity);
function GoPercentageOfAQuantity(evt:MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL (new URLRequest ("02 Percentages.swf"));
}
This code however loads the swf file in my internet browser instead of a new flash window.
I'd really prefer my actionscript 3 project to launch in a debugger window outside of a browser, but it always opens into a browser. I browsed through the preferences
View 2 Repliesmy organization is in the process of building a touchscreen interactive kiosk. We've designed a flash application to run on the kiosk to display information about our business, our publications, etc. We'd also like to be able to access our website through the flash application. We're having trouble figuring out how to do that effectively. The best we can do is to have the application launch Internet Explorer in a seperate window. This isn't so bad if we run IE in kiosk mode, however it becomes difficult/impossible to navigate back to the flash application (or to close the browser) without a mouse and keyboard (which users won't have access to).Wondering if there's a way to open or access a browser inside of the actual flash application, so users can access the flash menu, home buttons, etc and easily navigate back to the information contained in the rest of the flash application.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?
View 1 RepliesI am working on an Adobe AIR Application. The size on Application window is 800X600 and is contains border container and border container contains many controls. What I want is to if user re-sizes the application then that container should also be re-sized according to scale. i.e If user maximizes or minimizes the window then that border container should also be maximized or minimized respectively.

In my application when i first time run my application, application copy some data from application directory to application storage directory. now i want to delete all data and application directory folder also while uninstalling application.

I'm new to flex. Now I'm writing an flex application. I plan to split my application into some MXML files(Application as the root tag). How can I switch from one mxml to another?BTW, what is the best practice for design large flex application? Just one MXML Application and many MXML component or many MXML Application?
View 1 RepliesI want to read xml data to a mxml application from a xml file on my filesystem. The example I found was for AIR,link2, link3. But I want to target the Flash Player runtime. If I use the the tag, I can do it; however the xml compiles into my swf. How can I retain the xml file in my release build?

View 1 RepliesI have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.
View 1 RepliesI have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.
I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.
private static var _air:Object;
private static var _loader:Loader;
private static var appID:String = "someOtherAirApplication";[code].....
I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
I want to load a flex application in mobile flex application and also i want it to interact with the parent application. Right now I am trying to load the swf with swfLoader in mobile app, but it gives me security error. And also should I want the parent application to be generic in terms of child application as in down the line if someone wants he can have another child application with same name run.

I've created a client with login acces in Flex. After the succesful login i have to show a table based on a mySQL server. The database is composed by some tables, and I have created 6 flex mxml components with each own scripts for each of those tables. How can i load sub-applications, for example with a PopUpButton or a TabBar in the main application?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to open a custom IE window (i.e no status bar or address bar etc) from within flex? Or if I call a php file or html file can the page customize itself when loaded?
View 2 RepliesAll I need to open a new IE Window from within Flex code on click of a link.P.S I dont want to open a new Browser. I want to open a browser window only that can open a new URL.Something like clicking on a link in Flex and then openin a Pop up window.
View 2 RepliesIn javascript, I have a variable which holds a pdf in base64 (the pdf is generated in flex and passed to js). I want to open it in the browser (ie I want the browser to display the open/save dialog box letting the user open or save the pdf).
I am using Data URI which works fine in some browsers, but is not supported in IE 6/7:
function getPdf(pdf) {
window.open("data:application/pdf;base64," +pdf);
}
How can I get this PDF to open in IE6 and 7? I've read about MHTML as an alternative to data uri but I don't think it can do what I need, or can it? For now I just need to open pdfs but in the future I will probably need to add support for xls (MS Excel) files too. Currently I'm using Flash's Filereference.save to let the user save the pdf to the disk then he can open it, but the client is insisting on giving the user a choice to open it automatically rather than forcing him to save it first.
We are creating an ios app, In which we want to use certain interactive functionality which is created in flex. Though flex 4.5 does gives an option to create an ipa file and lauch it in app store as a app. But we want only a certain functionality in flex and want to develop other functionality using Objective C only. Is that possible? Can we use a module developed in flex inside an objective C app?
I have searched and found out that we can make .ane packages through flex. These packages use .a file to access the native ios functionality. To know about Adobe Native extensions (ane) click here
To see the sample provided by adobe click here. All I want to know is Can we include this ane in ios app, being developed using objective C using xcode 4? Is there any way I can use a module developed in flex under my cocoa app?
In our flex application we have tabs at the main level and under it we have subview.e.g
Home / Tasks / Admin etc...
In one condition we have to click on a button and open a new tab, on this tab we have to add an existing mxml component and show it in the tab.We are using parsley as the framework. Inside the mxml component test.mxml(that is shown in the tab) i am configuring it with parsley using the tag.Now when i add the instance of this test.mxml i am getting an exception. I am deriving this test.mxml instance using teh parsley context
as
context.getObject(id of component) as DisplayObject and adding it to the tabNavigator...
But i am getting exception when i try to grab an instance of a view using parsley context. How do i get an instance of a view or component that is configure through parsley using the parslye context.Also the problem is occuring becuase of the view injection..because i get a parsley excepiton on startup of the application stating that there is some problem in the context.
I need to import a flex project into FlashDevelop. However I am unable to find the .actionScriptProperties file. How would I be able to import the project?
It would be great if someone could help me out with it.
I need to convert complete .air project to flex project which can run in flash player in browser.
View 3 RepliesI have a program consisting of multiple SWF's. An AS2-SWF loads a bunch of AS1-SWFs.It's a crappy program.I'd like to specify the GUI in MXML and perhaps refactor some code to AS3. However, converting all of the 300+ symbols to AS3 or whatever is undoable.What are my options in converting to AS3/Flex/MXML? The app is very simple, only also quite large. It consists only of buttons, backgrounds and attention-texts. All the button texts are in XML files.I want to turn this into pretty code ASAP but also controlled so the code becomes:[code]Of course doing this is on my own initiative, if it'll take more than a week, I won't be able to find the time.
View 2 RepliesCan I import files from other apps into my app? If I for instance on iOS, I email myself a xml-file, I click the attachment in the mail-app. Now I want the "open in" option to show up, send that file to my app, and process that data there. Is this possible in flex/as3?
View 1 RepliesI have two flex applications Main.mxml(where I have a button called loadDataViewer) and ViewData.mxml. What I want is when the user press the loadDataViewer button, the application ViewData.mxml will open in a new window. Is there any way to do it in Flex?
SWFLoader class looks interesting but I think it will load the other appliation inside the Main application which I don't want.I also saw that there is ExternalInterfaceAPI which can be used to open a url browser but not sure if I can reference the swf file of VewData application.As suggested here( http:url... ) that LocalCOnnection can be used to reference one flex application in another but that's only when both applications are open I guess?
