We have a Flex-BlazeDS-Spring-JMS application. The issue is sometimes we get a Blazeds error: NoSuchMethodException. It is not able to find the Java service. The weird issue with this it does not happen all the item...1 time it goes through and returns the result, the 2nd time it fails, 3rd time fails and so on. Also not all methods fail, only 2 method calls fail.

I am developing a IT Monitoring Dashboard for the company I work at. The system will primarily perform monitoring of files, databases and servers. There will be a small part of the system which will allow the users to configure static data about the system eg: file locations, server names etc...
So as the app. will be a dashboard a lot of the application will consist of publishing data to the flex client to update all the monitoring views. So there will be limited database activity ie: insert/update/deletes.

I have a Spring MVC web application which provides RESTful web services via a controller class (annotated with @Controller) which has methods mapped to specific request types and signatures via @RequestMapping annotations.I have attempted to integrate a BlazeDS service destination into the mix by 1) adding the HttpFlexSession listener to the web.xml, 2) adding the flex:message-broker and flex:remoting-destination declarations to my Spring application context configuration file, and 3) adding a generic /WEB-INF/flex/services-config.xml.
The above BlazeDS integration steps appear to have hosed my RESTful web services, in that it appears that requests are no longer being routed to the controller methods. Is it even possible to do this, i.e, to have a single web application which 1) services HTTP requests via request mapped controller methods and 2) services remote object method calls (i.e. from a Flex client) via a BlazeDS service? If so then can anyone tell me what it may be that I'm doing wrong?
Is it possible to deploy my Spring/BlazeDS/Java application to elastic beanstalk? I'm using MyEclipse and built a Java Web Project with the required jar files etc. Do you need to specifically create an AWS Java Web Project - reason I ask is the options to include the BlazeDS files aren't there - so I'm wondering if Spring / BlazeDS is even supported? By default the turnkey blazeds runs through Port 8400 - so I imagine there are some additional tasks required to configure the endpoints to work through port 80?

From the API documentation I can see that the framework itself uses interceptors for Spring Security integration. We were thinking of using these interceptors as a way of enforcing our own special kind of security (we track our users using our own services in the application context), where a condition is evaluated every time a message is sent across the wire.
I have a spring BlazeDS integration application. I would like to log all the request.I planned to use Filter. In my filter when I check the request parameter. It does not contain anything related to the client request. If I change the order of my filter(I have spring Security), then it prints some thing related to spring security.I am unable to log the user request.

View 14 RepliesI'm trying to implement a simple application which uses Flex on the front end and a Spring/Hibernate application on the back end, with communication between the two going over a BlazeDS channel.
I'm seeking direction as to the best and/or simplest way to approach this. I have the UI set up in such a way that the user is presented with a file chooser in which they pick the image file they want to upload. When this is chosen and submitted (as a form submission) then the server side should receive the image file data as well as some related metadata such as a description and date, then populate a Hibernate entity/POJO with the image file data and related metadata, and then persist the entity/POJO into the database.
I have found some examples of how you would do a file upload and download using servlets here and the FileReference class (here and here) but these don't appear to address the problem in a way which leverages BlazeDS and/or Spring/Hibernate. I want to put the image file data and related metadata (description, capture date, etc.) into a value object within the Flex application and then send this over BlazeDS to a service provided by my Spring/Hibernate application running on Tomcat. In this service I want to extract the image data (both the actual JPG/PNG/GIF data and the related metadata such as description, etc.) from the value object sent from the Flex app into an entity/POJO which is then persisted via Hibernate in my database.
Can this be done, and if so what's the best way to go about it? Am I mistaken in assuming that if I use BlazeDS then I am somehow bypassing the need to provide HTTP-based services such as servlets on the server side and instead I can use my Java services as "RemoteObjects"? Is there necessarily a one-to-one mapping between Java POJO/entity class and the Flex value object class when making this sort of transfer? If so is there a tool which creates corresponding Flex value objects from Java POJOs or vice versa.

When I set a breakpoint in the method above and look at the image variable it looks to be empty, so I'm assuming that the transformation from the Flex value object to the Java POJO did not go as expected and that there's more to it than just adding a RemoteClass alias in the Flex value object class.
I have a flex UI which communicates with server using spring blazeds. I have a very typical requirement of Live data streaming on a panel in UI. Requirement is like this, We have an object say, Person and server keeps pushing its data on blazeds message destination where UI panel consumer has subscribed and hence user can see this live data in a panel. User can open multiple panels in same browser to view data for different Persons at the same time (e.g id=1,2,3 respectively). There can be multiple UI users who may be viewing the same data for person id=1 at a given time, lets say.
Basically I want to separate data between UI panels. UI panel opened for person id=1 must not display data of that for person id=2. I am doing this using headers-selectors, but apparently I found out that the differentiation to select and display what data happens on UI which is causing performance issues. I learned that using subtopics may improve performance. But, before proceeding for it, I want to know, will UI browser end up in receiving data irrespective of subtopic assigned to data and then consumer will decide to accept it or not?
I'm working on a project where we use Flex, Spring, Hibernate and Blazeds,all working on a Weblogic server.Everything works fine and we call services at the server side from the flex app without problems,but now we need to limit the time who spent the execution of the services to 2 seconds, if any service takes more than 2 seconds the server must return a timeout to the flex app.I've been searching for a way to do this with the blazeds configuration, but it looks that it's not possible.Is there any way to achieve this? I've thought in add a filter to the blazeds requests so it can control the timeout... But I can't find any example and I don't have enough knowledge of filter.

i am working on a flex+java combined project.My IDE and computer configuration is as follows:

When i make a small change in Flex code (eg, reposition of a button...anything), and run the project on server, it does make any change on output. Actually it depends on my luck... because it makes change in output randomly.what is is happening? tried rebuild, republish, clean , restart server, restarting the IDE, restarting the computer all available feature i could think. Also, i created a simple flex project on IDE and compiled it..... everything is compiled and displayed on output.

Then i got a Flex service class calling BlazeDS and executing the getCategories java method. Since Flash dosn't seem to understand typed arrays, the result from that method which i get back in flex is a simple array of untyped objects (the mapping dosn't seem to work here, even tought the class category exists in flex and has the same properties).
thats the first thing. but however, i'm converting the untyped objects manually into objects of the category.as class. the second thing is that categories have child-categories within the java object, which are also ArrayLists of the type category.java. the problem about that: my result event object only contains the first level of categories, looking into them the children are allways null. i dunno why they are empty, since they ARE part of the java object category.
and the third thing (the strangest by fast), you maybe noticed i named the properties of the category.java class strange, like idCat and nameTest instead of simply id and name. why that? because the property names of my flex result objects dont seem to change when i change the java objects properties names (result object properties are named "id" and "name" but the java class object properties are named "idCAT" and "nameTEST"). that it REALLY strange, since if i set the properties, like you see at nameTEST = "TESTNAME" it IS recogniced by flex, only the proertyNAMES dont seem to be recognized at all.

I'm coding a web app in flex blazeds and Java. I installed the Eclipse plugins for using WTP mixed project. I'm using flex's server that uses an emulate of tomcat when i ran my flex service the web app got the datas, everythings is ok. the problem is when i copy the project with all files generated by flex in my tomcat or the blazeds's tomcat, it doesn't work, this is becasue i want to implement my app on a server the error is:[code]
i don't know why tomcat doesn't find the class of flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint that is used for my-amf 'URL...'. all works well in the emulated server that flex has.
Some background: I have a Flex app embedded in an HTML page and am using Flex to send a soap request to my Java backend that does some authentication depending on the username and password entered in the Flex form. If I enter the correct login everything works fine and the Flex app can continue making further requests. But with an incorrect username/password, an "Authentication Required" dialog box pops up in my Browser and my Flex app won't respond with its proper handler until I click cancel. I'd like to get rid of the dialog box somehow,

This samples project is set up to be built with Maven and then imported into Eclipse for running the application via WTP.
The samples in question, must either be spring-flex-testdrive-spring3.zip which is linked to in the document or spring-flex-testdrive-spring3.zip based on the notion that this is release 1.5.0.M1 (docs and samples).After I configure maven as described with the proper environment variable:

I have managed to get a "Spring BlazeDS" application working (with Flex), but now I'm at the point where I need to implement security, and if the samples would compile and run correctly.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to leverage a vanilla HttpServlet from a Spring-Flex (with BlazeDS) project I'm working on. My team has an HttpServlet that they've used in the past (that some other team built) that processes a request given some key/value pairs passed over HTTP GET. I want to use this HttpServlet class to do the same work, but I want to call it in Java, when my Flex client invokes a method on a Service. Ideally, the class invoking the HttpServlet can use the standard @Service and @RemotingDestination annotations (see here).
So, this is the HttpServlet:

How to write my @Service class. I've tried going down a few different roads, but haven't had much luck. So far, I've considered and come up with secondary questions on the matter (but I've yet to work out the solution):
Do I need a @Controller for this sort of work?
Do I need a Servlet Factory?
Can the HttpServlet be a Spring managed bean, and call the ASP page another way?
(I like this idea least) Should I call the HttpServlet from Flex, and leverage logging and data the Servlet needs with a Remote Object?
The reason for my stubbornness in wanting to do this from Java is that I want to do some logging, and maybe leverage some other Singleton beans in the scope of the @Service class. However I work this out, I want to be as close to "Best Practices" as possible.

And behind the scene what it is asking that you instantiate a class as such: new Source("blooper", new Exp(4), new Erlang(4,6); The problem lies in the fact that you don't know what class you will need to processing, and you will be sent a list of these class definitions with instructions on how they can be linked to each other. I've heard that using a BeanFactoryPostProcessor might be helpful, or a property editor/convertor. However I am at a loss as to how best to use them to solve my problem.

I'm starting a flex+blazeds project. First I coded some server classes, and modified xmls (in WEB-INF). Now I want to test it with client. There (in Flash Builder) it's needed to specify path to folder where server lives. The problem is that I cannot find it. In the same time [URL] is found in browser.
View 1 RepliesI using messaging in Flex-BlazeDS. When the AIR client starts it connects to a destination and a specific subtopic. During runtime, the user can use a combo box to subscribe to different sets of live data coming in, this combo box change event changes the subtopic by:
messagingConsumer.subtopic = subtopicComboBox.selectedLabel;
messagingProducer.subtopic = subtopicComboBox.selectedLabel;
messagingConsumer.subscribe();
A message is then sent to the server with the new subtopic name as well so the server knows to send to a new subtopic. This whole mechanism seems very glitchy and I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this and succeeded? Most times it works the first time and the after that either the messages dont get sent or I get server errors like:
[BlazeDS]Endpoint with id 'my-streaming-amf' cannot service the streaming request as either the supplied FlexClient id 'B07F3285-A408-816E-4697-F13F9B17E32C is not valid, or the FlexClient with that id is not valid.
Also sometimes when I change subtopics it will cause the FlexSession and FlexClient to be destroyed instead of just the MessageClient. Once that FlexSession gets destroyed it messes up all kinds of things including logging out the user.
Perhaps I'm over complicating things by changing subtopics to listen to different sets of live data, if anyone has any other ideas on how to accomplish dynamic changing of destinations or subtopics please list those as well.
When I pass a Actionscript Value Object that contains a Date variable using BlazeDS it is not getting transferring as a java.util.Date object correctly. When the setBaseDatefunction gets called on the Java side the baseDate value is NULL. The weird thing is if I rename the variable on the Java side to private Date date; and create a public void setDate( Date date) function it works. The problem is I need to pass 2 different dates so I can't uses this work around.

I've googled it an several solutions came up.UPDATE after question from jsight:Flex would login, so on the RemoteObject I'll set Credentials I don't know if there comes authentication and authorization with BlazeDS (WebORB for instance does and WebORB looked at BlazeDS for their product) SSL not needed 've seen some links on the internet talking about spring security, so I'll check that out.
