I have a checkbox that does not render as a checkbox and would be displayed as something similar to a button. However, it behaves like a checkbox where I can select it and the handler works with the firing event. Here is my checkbox. I also tried it outside the or , but it has the same behavior. There is no CSS related to checkbox or the part that I am working on. I am using Flex 4.5 though.
1- Has anybody encounter such a problem?
2- Is there any way to enforce the layout inside a container and item renderer?

The problem that I'm having is that the images don't shrink the image into their quadrants, but rather, zooms in on the top left corner of the image.
Can anyone tell me what I have to change in the following code to make the images display at a set width (so that they fit in the quadrants proportionally).
Here is what the SWF looks like now. As you can see the images become distorted because they are being stretched. What should happen is that the images be displayed at a fixed width and variable height. [URL]

I have a main movie that contains some combo boxes. Some of them may be disabled.By pressing a button I load another movie using loadMovie. The loaded movie also contains combo boxes.When the button is pressed, the clip that shows the combo boxes is removed from the stage and the loaded movie is displayed. By pressing another button, the loaded movie is unloaded and the clip with the combo boxes is displayed again.Well, once the other movie has been loaded, when I go back to the clip with combo boxes, the disabled combo boxes have a small gray button covering the black down arrow.I have determined that so long as the loaded movie contains combo box in the library, the problem occurrs, even if there is no actual instance of it.The combo boxes that are not disabled are not affected. The combo boxes are disabled by setting "cb_name.enabled=false".If the combo box is enabled, it displays correctly, but if disabled again, it goes wrong again.My project is targeting Flash 8, so it uses AS2.I'm using Flash CS4.

The reason i ask is my current project has a rotating + enlarging effect which is largely dynamic so sometimes an object may clip the edge of the stage areathis looks messy but i dont want to increase the stage area to cover the largest possible area any object could enter because most of the time the objects are at the center and small so i would end up with a lot of white space
I have a list containing display objects from throughout the application (insertion order). I want to process the list either top-down (parent, child) or bottom up (child, parent). The only requirement is that either a parent is processed before any child or vice versa a child before its parent. What is a good approach? This question is not about sorting a list. It's about retrieving the depth of a particular display object.
Example
Display list:
A (root)
B1
C1
C2
D1
B2
......
My list:
list = [E1, F4, A, B2, B1, C3, ..., N9, N8]
Bottom-up:
N9, N8, F4, E1, C3, B2, B1, A
Top-down:
A, B2, B1, C3, E1, F4, N9, N8
Does not matter if N9 before N8 or N8 before N9. Important is that any N is before M (first run) or any M before its children N* (second run).

It's my understanding that a display object cannot be in the display list more that once.So if I add something to the stage shouldn't a second addition of the same object replace the first? for instance:

I'm working on redoing some very old HTML/Javascript effects on a client's website using Flash for better browser compatibility. On one of the pages, there is a SWF on/off audio button that when the page loads immediately starts playing audio (I didn't make this myself, it's already on the site). When you click the button, the sound goes off, and on again when you click a second time.
I downloaded the SWF and whenever I open it up in Flash player it functions fine, as it should. However, when I try to load it into an empty movie clip on the FLA I'm working on, it doesn't work. You have to click the button to get the audio to play, and then it won't turn off again. It's very odd.I'm using CS4 and AS2. Here's the code I'm using to load the SWF. "Sound" is the empty movie clip. It loads, but just doesn't function properly and I can't seem to fix it. I don't understand why the SWF isn't functioning as it does when you open it in Flash player.

I have created a dynamic text box which is used to put the length of a sound clip (which is worked out using AS2).
I want to use a font which isn't standard - VAGRounded, so I need to embed the characters.
If I select Family : VAGRounded and Style : thin then all is well. Ditto if I pick style:light but if I pick Style:bold or Style:black then the nothing displays
In my windows font folder all 4 appear to exist.
I notice that exactly the same appears to happen with the times font too (except some of the family options are different)
When I open the font-mapping box it tells me that there aer some fonts that I can't use but there is not list of what they are.
I'm loading XML, but I'm having trouble making a for loop so that I can output into text fields my xml info.I use this to load and put into the output window. Eventually I will put it into a text field.What I want really to do is for flash to output a list. This is what I want it to look like.

I have a page with buttons and i want the buttons to grow on click, get bright on mouse over, get brighter on click, go back to original on mouse out (Unless clicked).
