View 1 RepliesSo I'm trying to do something like this....<param name="movie" value="comp.swf?rootDomain=3" />where I have a variable called 'rootDomain' in my html, as a parameter.I want to be able to call that from my flash, but whenever I try it comes up as undefined.I'm using this code in my flash..
on(release){getURL (_root.rootDomain + '/news/'), "_self"
}
I don't know if I'm just wrong, if it's syntax or what, but how do I reference that variable in the html with my code?
i'm trying to access an mxml component from my external as file. e.g
main.mxml:
[mx:text id="myText" />]
file.as:
var mainM:main = new main();
mainM.text.visible = true;
i get the following error:
[TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference]
is ist still possible to use external parameters in defining an swf object in html?
[Code]...
I have an HTTPRequest in mxml that has an mx:request defined inside it. I use the info in the mxml request 99% of the time (I thought it was 100% until I found this bug). So I need to send the HTTPRequest with one of the items in the request different. I tried using the send() method and sending my own object, much like you would if no request was defined in the mxml, but it doesn't seem to override it.
Any ideas how I can accomplish this without re-writing every call to send this httpRequest?
I tried using var params: Object = ((this.stage.loaderInfo) as LoaderInfo).parameters; to get the parameters, but it returns an Object with no properties. That LoaderInfo will give me the correct URL without the parameters though if I use LoaderInfo.url. I'm using the request: http://localhost/foo.swf?start=foobar. params.hasOwnProperty("start") returns nothing, and using a for loop shows that "params" has no properties. How do I receive the start/foobar pair in my code? I would much prefer to not use FlashVars due to our setup.
View 2 RepliesI need to send a HTTP request (and get XML response) from Flash that looks similar to following:
http://example.com/somepath?data=1&data=2&data=3
I.e. having several parameters that share same name, but have different values.
Until now I used following code to make HTTP requests:
var resp:XML = new XML();
resp.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {/*...*/};
resp.ignoreWhite = true;
[Code].....
But in that case I am loosing ability to do POST requests.
Make a POST request with parameters and an attached file

View 1 Repliesi want to create instance of mxml (in my case EventList) and pass parameters. My Event List is a list of panels so I want to pass parameters and generate dynamically n number of panels (n-parameter to pass). I have the main app where I have toggle button bar when I click on the first I want for example to generate 3 panels (n=3) on the second button 20 panels (n=20) etc.How can I do this? How can I pass n and what is the best way to show the list? I whant to generate the list when I click on the toggle button!
View 1 RepliesI would like to send variables or parameters from Component to Main (MXML) Application. Like my component is FileUpload.mxml and would like to forward the uploaded file details from FileUpload.mxml to Main.mxml.
I tried the following procedure :
com:FileUpload id="fp"
to get the reference for the FileUpload component, however, I am unable to get the variables from the FileUpload.mxml file.
This is a project I'm working on for a simple demo tutorial application in Flex. I am using mxml pages. You can see to the left that I will have my main application and then other mxml files (In the Examples Package) as the examples that will be loaded into the main application mxml. How can I dynamically pull the value from the object in the list to load the child mxml file into the container that I have further down in the application?
View 1 RepliesI was reading about Flex- JavaScript communication via ExternalInterface.But I had a doubt, it said that the javascript code should be written in the HTML file of the application ? Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?
View 3 RepliesI have a parent swf called Main.swf that loads a child Registration.swf via a regular loader class then adds it to the stage. This child has a webcam function that captures an image but before that happens it prompts the user for permission to allow the webcam to be turned on. The problem I'm having is that in my IDE the prompt works like a charm and continues through to capturing image data. When I plop the files on a live server it fails. A friend recommended that it's most likely an issue with how I'm requesting permission from the child, so instead I'm calling an event to the parent telling IT to prompt and still no luck. Having the same issues. Note: The parent .swf was published as Player 9 and the child is in Player 10. I had to do it this way because each package has dependencies that require it.
View 1 RepliesI have the following JAX-RS service.[code]...
The JAX-RS service receives the request and respond successfully with some dummy response, but I have no access to the request.data field.
How do I access the data of the request message (which is {"type":"get_configuration","data":"some data"} in this particular example)? I think that I'm supposed to add some parameters to the handleMessage method like
public SomeResponse handleMessage(Object message) {...
but this does not work at all. The request got 415 response.
Is there a way to access the DOM-Elements of a mxml file in a way that you can in JS (e.g. using Prototype or jQuery)?
I need to know if a top-level element has a child (sub-sub-...-childs) with a certain id.
In JS (using prototype) it would be something like:
$('tabs').select('[id="something"]');
I have two mxml files. one is main that is application tag mxml file and another is my mxml component file. I have a viewstack in my main mxml whose id is, say, "mainViewStack". Now I want to set selectedChild property of "mainViewStack" from my mxml component file. [code]...

<mx:DataGrid id="taskDataGrid" dataProvider="{initDG}" variableRowHeight="true"
editable="true" width="100%" paddingBottom="1" paddingTop="1" height="55" >
<mx:columns>
[code].....
If I Have an XML variable that equals this:
var X:XML=XML("<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical" xmlns:ns1="Tools.*" minWidth="684" minHeight="484" creationComplete="Init();" xmlns:ns3="Components.*" initialize="I()"/>");
And I try to list the attributes via:
var AList:XMList=X.attributes();
The three namespaces, "xmlns:mx","xmlns:ns1", and "xmlns:ns3" aren't listed among the attributes! How can I access this information programmatically?
The rumors are true - you can now code Flash directly in your HTML page - no SWF required.[URL]..There are many similarities with both Flash Text Markup Language (FTML) and HTML and just as many differences as well. Both languages are XML based and are rendered from an .html file.Both render directly in your browser window, but HTML is non interactive while FTML is fully interactive.
Any web developer knows the hassle of dealing with HTML code. Although HTML is light weight and renders in the brower, the [View Source] of every browser will break in its parcing of HTML, because it is not fully XML compliant. This is not the case with FTML as you can see that all browsers denote FTML as fully XML compliant, viewable in its markup and syntax highliting provided by the browser.
How can I get access to the parameters that are passed into the swf, such as My.swf?xyz=123 ? How can I get the value of xyz?

View 2 RepliesIs it possible to access a declared component as an IFactory within an MXML class? I've used this style of declaring factories many times for Skin Parts, but I've never figured out how to access those factories from within the MXML.
Here's an example of what I would expect to work:
<fx:Declarations>
<fx:Component id="labelDisplay">
<s:Label fontSize="12" fontWeight="bold"/>

I know Flex MXML / AS3 very well. I also have good knowledge in C#,XAML and ASP.NET. I will be forced in the next years to do more HTML (Webapps) work. I could take ASP.NET but i dont like it really as i have to care about all that browser specific things and coding Javascript ist just horrible when you come from C# and AS3. Also ASP.NET isnt just as smooth in writing and using Components as it is in MXML or XAML. MXML (with FDT not FlashBuilder) and XAML also have awesome tooling for their Markuplanguage and their business language which i need. I know some Java too and willing to learn a new language if gives me what i need. I took a look at Vaadin and GWT but both seem to lack a Markuplanguage.
View 2 RepliesI've created a very simple video player that I want to use with many different FLV files on my site. Rather than packaging SWF files with each FLV, I'd like to just design one SWF file and have the corresponding HTML file pass the URL of the FLV as a parameter to the SWF. I've read a lot about passing in parameters from HTML to SWF using AS3, and it seems pretty straightforward. Here's an example of the code I created using Flash CS3 and ActionScript 3.0:
this.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,loaderComplete);
function loaderComplete(evt:Event):void {
//traceText.text = "Loaded";
[Code]....
Note that I'm using the variable "userName" to pass the parameter. Eventually I'd use a variable like "movieURL" to convey the actual URL of the FLV file. In any case, when I run the code, I get ... nothing! Nothing but a blank text box. Both the HTML and SWF files are on my local machine.
If I uncomment the "//traceText.text = Loaded" line, the text box says "Loaded", which would indicate that the event listener is functioning properly.
Is it possible to send params to swf using SWFLoader or something like it?So.. I want to create swf loader (swf) which would be able to send some Application.application.parameters to swf swf I'm triing to load (which are usualy sent to an application from html.)
View 2 RepliesI am using fancybox within a html page and I am calling an flv file via a swf file, plays fine locally and works via the web, the problem is that I need to link all of my assets with remote urls as I need to host the html elsewhere. So html hosted on server A and assets on server B. So my thoughts turn to adding the flash parameter to the query.fancybox-1.3.4.pack.js file and this is where I get stuck.url...I've located the object tag in the query.fancybox-1.3.4.pack.js file I just need to add the allowScriptAccess parameter.[code]
