View 5 Repliesi.m trying to create a 3d rotation much like the widely used carousel only the rotation i desire consist of four upright(90 degrees) movieclips resting on a slanted, 30 degree plane which rotate onEnterFrame or following a tween on a oval like path - then pause for a given number of seconds at the four movieclips positions equal in distance on the plane
function around() {
this._x = Math.cos(this.angle) * radiusX + centerX;
this._y = Math.sin(this.angle) * radiusY + centerY;
var s = this._y /(centerY+radiusY);
[code]....
When you roll over the image there is frontSide to backside animation.It looks like original animation have 'constant rotation perspective' regargless of image position the rotation look exactly the same.I tried to replicate this effect but when I am using standard rotationY image rotation (or rather rotation respective) varies depending on image position
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to kind of create an effect of 3d with a movie clip that rotates round its centre on all three axis. Is there any way of using just xscale, yscale, and _rotation properties of an image to give this effect (once you know rotation round z axis, y axis and x axis). I know it can be done I just can't get my head round the flipping over. Its ok when its at only one angle like imagine a photo spinning like some spinning doors but as soon as the angle changes is where I'm having problems. This is as far as I've got but its clearly wrong, it shrinks to zero size. Use right up and down arrow keys [URL].
View 4 RepliesI am trying to create a effect using AS3. The effect is that several arms should rotate towards the mouse, and rotate less when their further away from the mouse cursor.using Math.atan2 to find how much the arm nedd to rotate to point against the mouse, and then substract the distance from the mouse.(look at the following picture) For example, if Math.atan2 returns 100 and the distance from the mouse is 40, the arm would rotate 60. Thats what i thought.But i cant get it to work. I attached the source files if you want to help Note:A blue ring in the source file indicates the distance.
View 2 Repliesim not exactly sure where to start right now im using a script for dhtml to rotate imaged randomly what i hope to accomplish is background , that will have some type of transition effect and randomly show my images
i have 32 images atm i would like to rotate through i found this and have tried to use it , but not exactly what i want , i need a transitional effect of somekind, and want it to rotate at a given amount of time , say maybe 12seconds[URL]...
is there a way to change the code and create attraction effect instead of push effect?i tried but without success...!
View 1 RepliesSo I'm working on a project where I'm building a flash loop to play on a display in an office lobby. I'm making it so there are static elements in the animation as well as dynamic elements. I'm thinking it will pull in all the data from an XML document - I've got that worked out. Here's where I'm stuck.
I know how to use Actionscript to dynamically create a text component, and I'm using TweenLite to animate that text component -- but how would I go about setting up a class that looks at the total number of dynamic screens that need to be created and animate all the text in a sequential order...one slide at a time.
i create stage Mouse Rotation Y is complete and i want to put some easing on movieclip this is my code
Code:
import flash.events.Event;
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onEnterFrame);
function onEnterFrame(event:Event):void
{

I have a movie clip which has two frames. On the first frame I have the front side and on the second I have the back. I am rotating the MovieClip by rotationX, rotationY, rotationZ properties.I want to display the frame 2 when the MovieClip rotates. Please help. I dont want to use PaperVision class. Also, please consider the Perspective View of the scene.Sometimes, the MovieClip might not only be dependent on rotation. It is also equally dependent on the position (only in Perspective View).
View 3 RepliesI have to create an animation involving a big fast zoom with a little rotation and animating it on the timeline just doesn't cut it.I start with state 1 (see attached file state11.jpg) where there is an animation and then I want a fast smooth zoom until I reach State 2 (see attached file state2.jpg). In the first state the "map" occupies the entire screen, but when it reaches state 2 the map is inside a mask and the other elements will start appearing.how to create this zoom smoothly with actionscript? I am really lost here and I know somethings about actionscript but I just cannot do this and my timing is today...

I have a movieclip and when I do 3D rotation from Transform panel, It rotates perfect, center is in the middle of image, and when I apply mc.rotationY, rotation center is in left of the image, aren't 3D rotation from Transform panel and mc.rotationY from AS same? what's up?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to do some augmented reality projects with flartoolkit . I can now put simple 3d objects on my marker and it works fine , but I wanna give my project some events that the user can interact with. I'm trying to trace the rotation of the marker. there's a container:DisplayObject3D which my application uses to add the 3d objects , I traced this :"trace(container.rotationZ)" but it's just returning 0 . I studied another AR application's source code and it was using the rotation of it's container object without problem .and I think I should mention that I'm using the exercise file of seb lee delisle papervision3d course from [URL]. anyone has any experience with flartoolkit? the main functions of my my code is as below:

Is it possible to have the child movieclip rotate separate of the rotation properties assigned to the parent? so ultimately giving the child element it's own axis?I've customized Lee Brimelows (gotoandlearn.com) 3D carousel to spin on the x axis to make it a vertical carousel. I've also rotated that by 45 degrees on the y axis to see all the items, and wrote a snippet of code to hide the left portion of the carousel. The entire carousel is contained within the 'container' movieclip, and inside of that are my carousel items (as seen below), with the larger item being the item in focus.
On rollover of the item in focus, I want to rotate it so it faces the viewer (as seen below),basically removing the 45 degree rotation applied to the container.The problem i'm running into is when you rotate the container (changing the rotationX of the container), the axis basically rotates with it, so when i rollover the next item 'in focus', the following happens..(in the example where it appears how it want it to, the carousel is at a rotationX of 0, so it works fine)
Program A has a cannon that aims to line up with where-ever the mouse is pointing, in 360 degrees, and fires when the mouse is is clicked. Program B has an eye instead of a cannon that should in theory do similar functions when the capslock key is toggled, but instead only has a 90 degree range of motion from the Right of the eye toward the bottom (quadrant 4 only). Where did the ther 270 degrees of rotation disappear to?

Why isn't there the Z, rotation X and rotation Y fields in my motion editor panel?

View 4 RepliesI've had an idea for an e-invite I'm doing for my site launch ... so I need to learn how to create a 3d effect I guess (although I have no 3d programs) that give the illusion the user to going through rooms ... it's not actually rooms I want but that's easier to describe ... you get what I mean right?

View 1 Repliesbest way to create an effect as if text was being 'typed' onto the screen (i.e. text appears 1 letter at a time, not as a single block)?I was considering creating an array containing each letter that needed to be typed, then using a timer to display each letter in turn... but this seems rather inefficient, is there a better way to go about this?
View 4 RepliesI was just wondering what the best way to distort an object using AS3 is? I am creating a game which involves a ball-like object bouncing off several hard surfaces, ideally I'd like the ball to squash on impact (think of a soft rubber ball 'squashing' as it hits off something) and I wasn't sure what the best way to do this was? It may hit off of surfaces at any angle, so it won't simply be hitting off a horizontal plane from above otherwise I'd just use the scale function.
View 1 RepliesI would like to create a scrolling effect on one of my MovieClips. In Javascript I'd simply create two divs, one positioned absolutely in the other, and have the surrounding one have the style 'overflow: none'. Now I want to achieve the same in ActionScript, as shown in the following picture:
When I try to set the size of the surrounding MovieClip the contents just get 'squashed'. I want it to stay the same and the parts outside of the 'rectangle to be hidden outside of the MovieClip.

View 3 RepliesI am still learning AS3 and am currently building an oline portfolio. I want to create this roll over effect: when the cursor is over an image, a rectangle of information slides to the left, and slides back to the right (and hides back under the image) when cursor rolls out.
View 1 RepliesI need to create a sort of 'flex' effect for a box, with a circle at each end. If on one side of the movie clip I want the end to go upwards or downwards towards the mouse. Sort of like rubber, and I need it to be anchored at the center, sort of like a piece of rubber that is held at the center.
