View 3 Repliesi am trying to use the excellent hover caption effect in my movie. the buttons i want to put the captions on are inside a movie clip named mcRobot. so i tried to modify all the paths to go into the mc...but not working.
here is original code from tutorial and then the one i try. basically i put "mcRobot." before most of the paths where i think it should go.
does anyone have a version already modified to put into an mc?
original code:
b1.onRollOver = function() {
captionFN(true, "E-Mail!", this);
this.onRollOut = function() {
captionFN(false);

I have two datagrids which should do everything synchronic except the data entry. I already managed to make them scroll synchronic by using the scroll event. My question is now how to select a item of a datagrid only programmatically, and how to get the mouseover effect and underlining the corresponding row with a bright blue color?
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to disable the hover effects?I don't want flex to highlight the entire component for both link buttons and menu bar.On the menubar, I applied a backgroundSkin, so having flex highlight the whole menubar when the user hovers their mouse on top quitely destroys the design.
View 1 Repliesis there a way to change the code and create attraction effect instead of push effect?i tried but without success...!
View 1 RepliesI have four buttons each of them are an instance of my generic_btn. They are empty buttons with just a hit area.
then I have static text that I would like to have the color change when the user navigates over it how can I do this? Do i need to combine the text and generic button into a movieclip for each button?
I'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven tooI am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?

View 9 RepliesI've had an idea for an e-invite I'm doing for my site launch ... so I need to learn how to create a 3d effect I guess (although I have no 3d programs) that give the illusion the user to going through rooms ... it's not actually rooms I want but that's easier to describe ... you get what I mean right?

View 1 Repliesbest way to create an effect as if text was being 'typed' onto the screen (i.e. text appears 1 letter at a time, not as a single block)?I was considering creating an array containing each letter that needed to be typed, then using a timer to display each letter in turn... but this seems rather inefficient, is there a better way to go about this?
View 4 RepliesI was just wondering what the best way to distort an object using AS3 is? I am creating a game which involves a ball-like object bouncing off several hard surfaces, ideally I'd like the ball to squash on impact (think of a soft rubber ball 'squashing' as it hits off something) and I wasn't sure what the best way to do this was? It may hit off of surfaces at any angle, so it won't simply be hitting off a horizontal plane from above otherwise I'd just use the scale function.
View 1 RepliesI would like to create a scrolling effect on one of my MovieClips. In Javascript I'd simply create two divs, one positioned absolutely in the other, and have the surrounding one have the style 'overflow: none'. Now I want to achieve the same in ActionScript, as shown in the following picture:
When I try to set the size of the surrounding MovieClip the contents just get 'squashed'. I want it to stay the same and the parts outside of the 'rectangle to be hidden outside of the MovieClip.

View 3 RepliesI am still learning AS3 and am currently building an oline portfolio. I want to create this roll over effect: when the cursor is over an image, a rectangle of information slides to the left, and slides back to the right (and hides back under the image) when cursor rolls out.
View 1 RepliesI need to create a sort of 'flex' effect for a box, with a circle at each end. If on one side of the movie clip I want the end to go upwards or downwards towards the mouse. Sort of like rubber, and I need it to be anchored at the center, sort of like a piece of rubber that is held at the center.
View 14 RepliesI'm in the mist of a flash project and my client really liked how the (www.nike.com) navigation on this site works to get you into their multitude of sites. I don't care about the sliding and following the mouse. I only care about the showing of "submenus" they way they are doing it to the side with the easing and reveal effects.I would like to create the navigation effect with XML and Actionscript 2.0.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a fade effect. When I click on a movie clip, I want the others to gradually fade from _alpha =100 to _alpha = 25. The way I have it now it will instantly take the clip from 100 to 25. This is on the movie clip that I click

I am just learning Flash and ActionScript and I am having a tough time with AS syntax. I am trying to create a rollover navigation effect similar to that of Gnomon School.

I am creating some buttons for a menu, and am using movie clips so that I can have a multi-frame effect on them when you roll over them. The buttons are flowers that bloom on rollover, and I only want them to play once- so the first time you roll over them they bloom, and then they stay in that state as long as you're on the page.
So far I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I can create the animated rollover effect, but the next time I rollover them, it plays again from frame 1. I've tried using a variable that increases by one every time you roll over it, and then if it's greater than 0 it doesn't play, but I don't know how to set it to 0 at the beginning without it setting to 0 every time you roll over it.
