I have four buttons each of them are an instance of my generic_btn. They are empty buttons with just a hit area.
then I have static text that I would like to have the color change when the user navigates over it how can I do this? Do i need to combine the text and generic button into a movieclip for each button?
I'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven tooI am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?

Similar to this: http:[url]...In this example, select a font then click create text item.At this point you can slide the meter to change the arc of the text. This is exactly what I need to do.My understanding of what needs to be done is I need to first break the letters of the text field into separate text fields, loop thru them then position and rotate each char to the desired arc. The problem is my trigonometry really bites. I have tried many tutorials and I have gotten similar results, mainly arcing text into a complete circle at different radiuses. But all I need to do is whats in the example, which is allowing the user to gradually arch the text.

I have a function that takes in a textfield, resizes the font to fit the text box, works fine on my local machine, does NOT work on other machines.

First let me warn you that I'm "old school" i.e. code is on my timeline and the only classes used were those automatically created when I added several new fonts to Script1.swf which is my movieclip for embedded fonts.
On the first frame of my main movieclip which is named Round.fla, I have loaded Script1.swf that contains the fonts using the loader object. I'm using a trace statement that shows that Script1_lb.swf is loaded.
I am using a listbox (script1_lb) with movieclip icons (jpg picture of the sample font) and the data is the name of the font class, like this: script1_lb.dataProvider.addItem( {icon:akaDora_mc, data:"akaDora"} );

I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.URL...It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font> This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts at stays true to the font? To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe "Gotham" to be exact.URL,,,

I want create 3 dynamic text fields with createTextField function and i want apply a TextFormat on all three text fields.

but the problem is, that only one text field is created - text2, and also TexTFormat cant be apply to this text field.
I have attached and sample file with problem that show when you hover over the red link it shift the text. It only happens when I use antiAliasType = advance or my text field set to readability in combination to external or internal StyleSheet.

I haven't used flash for a bit but I'm really stuck on something that should be simple.
I want to add buttons or MoiveClip to make a navigation.
Each button will have different text on it and they need a hover state that changes the color of the text.
I have done this to add the buttons with text. This works but I do get an error message.
How can I change the color of the text when I hover over the button ? How can I stop the error message ?

I am trying to modify the hover caption tutorial from here at Kirupa to load the text in the caption from an external text file. Could anyone give me a hand trying to figure this out?I tried the simple way of loading external text but because the text is loaded in a MovieClip this does not work. Here is my code for the hover menu that currently loads the text dynamically through ActionScript:

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
View 2 RepliesThe navigation buttons in my .fla file are set to the font, Arial MT in Bold. It displays no problem on my desktop computer. However, when I view the website on my laptops, the font changes to what looks to be something like Times New Roman. The same thing happens with my "Read More" button text. It's also originally in Arial MT Bold. On my desktop it appears fine but on my 2 laptops it appears to be in Times New Roman. This is more of an issue because I have these buttons underlined. When viewing in my laptops, these underlines appear to be too long. If I shorten it, it'll probably appear to be too short when I view on my desktop. How can I get the font to be one consistent font for all computers?

Im using a standard font (Gotham rounded) within a dynamic text field. As soon as I embed the numerals within this text field the text lowers within the text field.Double clicking the field then renders the text higher up! It seems that the height it shows when I double click is the height it compiles atThe other strange and annoying thing is that my colleague working on the same project is using the exact same font and same file but this doesnt happen to him and so the font redners out differently when he compiles
View 1 RepliesSo, I have some basic actionscript code. It's a legacy site, so I'm using AS2. The line of code simply does this:
myField.text = "some text"
So, I select the text field on the stage, then ensure the font is embedded. All the glyphs I want are checked, but then when I compile and test, the fonts don't show up when the code is executed. Instead, the textfield is blank! What happened?! Where did the text go?
I should mention that the .swf which I compile is loaded into another parent .swf during runtime. If that parent .swf does not contain embedded fonts, is that why it's broken?

View 3 RepliesIt's what this image describes:For some reason, I cannot use bold tags to set the TLF text to bold, even though both the regular and bold fonts are embedded.so that the webpage that embeds this movie can call its function (otherwise the movie itself will be wrapped by TLF).his is not exactly a question since there is an obvious solution to this. Currently i have one input box named input_1 with a variable attached to it named "choc_1".
Also, i have a dynamic text box named dynamic_1 with variable "choc_1".
When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.
auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.
The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.
