I need a meter that shows the current bandwidth rate as a percentage. For example: The maximum bandwidth rate is 4mbps, the current bandwidth is 3mbps, so the bar would be 75% full. This bar would change dynamically as the bandwidth rate changes.

I think this might be a bit hard for me... as i can't even make a preloader... everytime i try the SWF file just stays blank until it's fully loaded... haha... but i'll read tutorials and stuff... i'm rather basic with Flash and just learn what i need to learn as i get to it... I also need the transition between each change (say from 1-10kbps - 51+) to be smooth rather than just having it going from a drip to gushing water... but i think i'll just have to make animations for each and then IF statements to deal with that issue..

View 4 RepliesI want to add an animated .gif file to my movie. So I created a new symbol and then imported the .gif file to the stage. This created the symbol containing the animated .gif.I dragged the symbol onto the scene where I want it. However, the animation seems to play at a different speed (fps) than normal. So I changed the fps of the symbol (at bottom of Timeline where it says "fps"). But for some reason this changes the fps of the rest of the entire movie.

After a set time I want it to increase the speed of the movie clips, making the game become "harder". I am trying to branch out into web development, and as a hobby project trying to put a web application together. I have been reading quite alot of information, but I still can't seem to decide on the path to take and would really like some advice. Basically, I want to build something like this:

Jpolite seems to do everything with javascript, which seems kind of cool, but I if I want to make a chart inside a widget that connects to a database, do I need something more? Is this where ASP.NET comes in? I am familiar with .NET, but if I use ASP.NET for my website, do I have to host it on IIS and windows server as opposed to Apache since mono is still being ironed out? I am seeing a 25% decrease in framerate under IE7 using Flash10b.ocx(10.0.22) and 50% decrease in framerate using Flash10c.ocx(10.0.32). PLugins under FireFox, Safari and in Mac OSX don't exhibit the same slowdown.
I would like to get help/confirmation on a performance problem that I see in Internet Explorer. The Adobe and Flash community is great on the Internet but I have been surprised to see no information on this, just a few reports about movie playback on 10.0.32 vs. 10.0.22.
My guess is that in IE flash plugin is passing draw calls to Win32 and that this is slow.
Instead of drawing each time on the bitmap using draw, cache the draw calls to a bitmap and use CopyPixels. When I do this the performance is the same across browsers, within 10%.

I have a website with a Flash banner. This has worked fine in all major browsers (IE7/8,Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera) for some time, but when I upgraded to IE9, the banner is displayed with a 1 pixel shim on the right-hand edge, which is throwing the layout off.know past versions of IE would display line breaks as white space and I wonder if that's what's going on here. I'm using the AC_FL_RunContent() function to display the Flash file.I'm not sure where to look to debug this, but I'd like to fix it sooner rather than later

From what i can tell, it's logging in fine and returning the user id but when i do a lookup on that user with Facebook.api(_user, handleUserRequest); I get an error.
Is there any known problems with the Facebook Actionscript graph api that affects IE only?

I have a video in flash in the size of 19 MB (5 minutes) and I want the user to see what that has been loaded so far, or even get an indication of what has been loaded - so he won't be stuck in a blank screen until the video loads. The quality of the video is important so I won't resize it - but how can I: stream it so the user can see what that has been loaded so far give him an indication of how long he will need to wait until it loads.
