I have a common problem. Because I am sitting on broadband, I dont have possibility to se how my productions are going to behave on for example 56K, ISDN or similar connection. Is there any application or site that can actually squeeze connection speed for those purposes?
I need a meter that shows the current bandwidth rate as a percentage. For example: The maximum bandwidth rate is 4mbps, the current bandwidth is 3mbps, so the bar would be 75% full. This bar would change dynamically as the bandwidth rate changes.
I need to create a internet speed test application in Actionscript 3.0, like Speed Test. I need to calculate: 1. Download speed 2. Upload speed 3. Latency (Round Trip Time) 4. Jitter 5. Packet loss 6. Network availability
I have two versions of video - low and high bandwidth. I want to detect client's internet connection speed to show low or high version of videos. Is it possible to detect Internet Connection Speed in AS2

I have 4 animations and based on the speed of the internet i want it to change between each depending on the speed.
e.g...
0 - 10kb/ps - 1st MC 11 - 30kb/ps - 2nd MC 31 - 50kb/ps - 3rd MC 50+ - 4th MC
My idea is to have like a glass of water... and for the 1st MC the water filling it up is only a drip... and then 2nd MC is a slow stream of water etc etc and then final MC is water gushing in filling the cup up faster until it's full...
I think this might be a bit hard for me... as i can't even make a preloader... everytime i try the SWF file just stays blank until it's fully loaded... haha... but i'll read tutorials and stuff... i'm rather basic with Flash and just learn what i need to learn as i get to it... I also need the transition between each change (say from 1-10kbps - 51+) to be smooth rather than just having it going from a drip to gushing water... but i think i'll just have to make animations for each and then IF statements to deal with that issue..
I'm interested in building a thick client application for my existing web services that will run on the IPhone. Flash finally seems to be an option, so I thought about using Flex for client side development.
However, since flash apps are not natively supported by the IPhone, but only through a wrapper, I was wondering if these apps can persist any data. Data entered by the user should eventually be transmitted to the web service, but until then I want it to persist even if the Iphone should run out of power.
Is this possible? Or does the Iphone flash wrapper make it impossible to access the hard disk?
I have been asked to get a website up and running. It is a Flash site, which works fine in Firefox and Safari, but its just a white screen in IE. Does anyone know why?the website isand the scrip is : -
<head> <script> if ((navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPhone') != -1) ||
The following site only works if you are offline.[URL].. So how do they do this. I have even seen YouTube do something similar. just open YouTube and disconnect net and refresh. You will see the page below.
At the end of the movie I would like to check if the user is still connected to the Internet (they maybe on an unstable dial-up connection and lost connection). Is there anyway to do that? I mean, is there a way to check if a user is connected to the Internet using ActionScript?
I am trying to prevent users from viewing my site and then simply going into their "temporary internet files" and stealing my swfs and XML files. I have been using a great .PHP code to stop this but now I am working on a server server that only uses .aspx files. Does anybody know of a way that I can stop files from being stored in the "temporary internet files" folder. I have encrypted the files but this is not good enough.
I want to add an animated .gif file to my movie. So I created a new symbol and then imported the .gif file to the stage. This created the symbol containing the animated .gif.I dragged the symbol onto the scene where I want it. However, the animation seems to play at a different speed (fps) than normal. So I changed the fps of the symbol (at bottom of Timeline where it says "fps"). But for some reason this changes the fps of the rest of the entire movie.
I'm tweening a movieclip from startX to finishX. The value of startX varies but finishX is a constant. But as the startX increases in value the animation appears to be quicker. How do I adjust the speed of the tween to ensure a consistant speed regardless of the value of startX?
I have a movie clip on my scene which has a speed applied to it making it move across the screen. This is duplicated when it reaches the other end of the screen.On my scene I have some action script which is acting as a timer. After a set time I want it to increase the speed of the movie clips, making the game become "harder". I seem to be able to manipulate the alpha of my movie clips but can't seem to trigger the speed increase.If i use a setInterval it seems to trigger the speed increase but it does it each time the movie clip is duplicated (so the delay resets, it does not change once and apply throughout)However, where I am changing the alpha I cannot seem to change the speed.
How can i detect mouse speed with AS 3.0, and then put speed limit? Also can i use speed var for anything else? *sorry for my bad English, i live in non-english-speaking country*
I have this video chat(video, text and audio) program written in actionscript and using FMS as the media server, that I would like to test out with diff comps. I don't have enough webcams to go around and also not all have a built-in webcam. Is there anyway I can use some software to record the screen activity as a video and than stream it over? I am aware that there are softwares that can record the screen activity, but how do I stream it over after that, while still in my video chat applicaton?
Here's the thing, I'm making a flash game that uses some pixel techniques like copypixels, bitmapdata, etc.
Im planning to offer the game to FGL (Flash Game License) and I read that they doesn't not allow wmode, and many other portals do the same.
is my game taking advantage of wmode=gpu?.. how can I run my swf file and disable wmode for sure?, I just want to know if my game will run smothly without that wmode enabled.
I have to use Flash CS3, so I can't use the properties rotationX, roationY and rotationZ.I have a movieclip, that looks like this. It is now flat, no 3D rotation or shearing But what I want is that this movieclip has a rotationX, or that it is a bit in perspective like this: As I said, I can't use rotationX, so I have been playing around with Matrix. But I can not get it right.Here is how I try to do it
myMC.transform.matrix = new Matrix(1,0.15,0.35, 1, 0, 0);
And this is the result get the matrix right, or is there another way?
I'm building a system that will record a user's experience in Flash (where they click and at what time it was). Is it possible to simulate a click? I would use this to replay the user's experience. If not, I guess I'll have to record what button object they clicked on and pass everything through the event handler.
I'm wondering if there is an action script under 1.0 or 2.0 (sorry still trying to learn everything with 3.0) that will allow me to simulate having an image roll out as if it were unrolling on your screen.
I made a preloader for this movie: [URL]. But when I simulate a download, it goes straight from 0% to 100% and the bar goes from nothing to filling only half of the screen. I'm using Flash CS3. Here's the code for the Preloader.fla file:
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("movie.swf"); var loader:Loader = new Loader(); var nPercent:Number; loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, preLoad); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, fileLoaded); [Code] .....
The graphic for the preloader is made up of two parts. background_mc is the light blue background for the progress bar and bar_mc is the dark bar that's supposed to fill it up.
Currently, I have a handle on the basic elements of the game, like drawing cards and shuffling. However, I am lost on how to implement the functionalities unique to certain cards.To simplify things, I have a deck class and a card class. The card class includes variables like a card's name and type, and it gets their values by extracting them from a database. But say, if I'm trying to create a Base Set Charizard, how would I store and call his poke-power (read:ability), as it has effects beyond the normal rules of the game and needs its own code.
He's making an interface design for the iPad, and he wants to simulate the finger-swipe that you can use on iPhones and iPads. How would he do this with a mouse in Flash? When the mouse is clicked and dragged in a certain direction, it must gotoAndPlay() a certain frame
how to imitate a reflection of a movie clip in a "mirror." I don't know if I should have the initial movie clip on custom cursor or have it set to drag... but either way I don't know how to make the second clip the "reflection follow along. Obviously it would need to follow at a slightly offset pattern so that you would be able to see both clips (or majority of them) at the same time.
How would you go about coding something like the waves in the header on this page? [URL] I'm hoping to write something that will look a bit like eels swimming upstream but wasn't quite sure where to start
I am just starting with 3d flash concepts and I was checking this tutorial:[URL]I wonder if there is a tutorial showing the same movement but with a solid cube. I fact, what I want to achieve is this effect:[URL]
