Jun 14, 2009need a variable, need to add numbers to the variable when conditions are met, need to display the variable.The display part is giving me fits and to put it simply, every tutorial I've looked at is mega lame.1. How do you create a dynamic textbox/field/whatever ENTIRELY out of code. Now I could just click, drag and make one, but then it would be stuck on the screen all the time, no good for startup menu, etc.
2. How do I update the Dynamic text box, now I could use an eventListener ENTER_FRAME, but that seems a tad intensive, their must be a way to only update when new value is passed to it?I've got this code that creates a whole bunch of moving objects in the background, when the level ends I want to remove them all. HOW do I remove this heaping load of objects?

Jul 31, 2009I'm using C3S Flash and working in a button. The text on the button is set to 'dynamic' and I'm trying to display an array value in the 'var' field.
Is there any way I can use an array value in a dynamic text field? I can display the entire array by putting the 'menuarray' name into the text 'var' field, but if I try to display a subset of the array like 'menuarray[0][1]' it displays nothing, even though this subset holds a value (it shows up fine in the trace window).
Is there any way to get around creating dozens of variables just to display array items?

EDIT: What do I need to write in AS3 to make a dynamic text field increase in increments of 1 if the user hovers at the upper half of the screen, and decrease in increments of 1 if the user hovers at the lower half of the screen?Purpose, it isn't a game.
What I have right now isn't actually doing any of those things, I've just been mucking about trying to get all the masks working and they finally are.
I've included the code to offer as much information as possible about my specific project. There is also a few more lines that changes the colour of the dial when the user rolls over the specific coloured bars. I can post that as well if it helps.
To clarify the scene, the arrow part of the dial tracks the user's mouse. Always pointing towards it. The bars, when rolled over changes the colour of said dial. The "73M" is static, as well is "POINTS" but the 380 value is dynamic. It is that string I need to affect.
If anything is unclear please feel free to ask, I've been at this all night so there is a chance I'm so into it that I can't see straight.

Feb 27, 2007I would like to be able to dynamically populate a dynamictext field (assuming that's the best component to use) with anarray of data from PHP.I have attached my PHP code and my Flash Code.The PHP code is working fine and generating the array.The first part of the AS code is working as I can see thepop-up window with the PHP array in it. However, I can't figure outhow to get the array to display in the dynamic text box.I have created a dynamic text box in flash with nothing inthe 'instance name' box and 'events' in the var box.

I have tried everything I know but can not get pahting to work prpoerly. Dec 8, 2010I'm creating an XML-driven pie chart in AS3 with 2 text boxes in each pie slice. Both text fields are dynamic in the sense that they are populated by the XML doc and then told where to place themselves in the AS3. I've got them both using the same x and y position to place themselves at the moment (which of course puts them right one top of each other), but I'd like to make one of the fields (which acts like a label or a title to the larger number and % text field) place itself in a particular spot around the other text field. The result I'm looking for is to have the smaller "title" text field appear approximately 5 pixels above and left-justified to the larger "percentage" field.
Anyway, here are two sections of code that I've currently got. The first chunk, for the Tags portion, sets the position for the "percentage" text field using a good old x and y method. The second chunk, for Titles, is setting the position for the smaller "title" text.

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.

Dec 16, 2010What I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.

From what I understand, purepdf is basically iText, and I believe iText has the ability to parse HTML and save formatted text into a PDF. Does purepdf have that same functionality that I can tap into and plug in 'textfield.htmlText' somewhere?

This is just a part of the script, the whole thing will kinda look like a calendar, it will load certain dates from an XML file, cross-check them with the dates, and then it will mark them in a different way in the SWF. However this sample of code should just build arrays of days using the name of the month array, and days in it array.Later Im gonna check if dates from the xml match some dates in those arrays. If they will, it will change theyr apperance.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making A Text Field Ignore The Cursor?
Oct 7, 2008I am creating a dynamic text field in the IDE and putting it on top of a simple one-color square movie clip. I've attached a listener to the movie clip in AS 3, to make it act like a big button. However, since the text field is on top, it blocks the button from reading the cursor, within the text field. I set "selectable" to false in the IDE, on the text field, but that didn't seem to work. Any ideas? Do I have to add a listener to the text field, also?

Jun 8, 2011When I Selection.setFocus(someTextField); the cursor doesn't start blinking in the text field. I've tried it in the flash IDE as well as in a HTML page, I can't seem to get the cursor to start blinking automatically in an input TextField.
I even did an onEnterFrame script to make sure the TextField was loaded and ready before I did the selection. I've also used Selection.setSelection(0,0) , etc. It just never shows up.
If I click the input TextField the cursor shows up as normal though. I just want it to automatically appear as this is a form and I want it to be clear to the user which textfield is currently selected when I change focus.
This is for a touchscreen project with an on-screen keyboard so the user has no mouse.
Even if the user types some letters and sees them appear in the input box properly the cursor STILL doesn't appear. Only when I click the input does the cursor appear.
