ActionScript 2.0 :: Attach.Movie Causing Text Blurring

[url]... am attaching a movie clip containing pixel fonts. i have a stage listener that places the movieclip at stage.width/2 and stage.height/2.
if i publish the movieclip that gets attached on its own, its perfect, i can resize any way i like but if i resize the browser window when i attach it the text can get blurred. im assuming the movie clip may be placed on a decimal point rather than a whole pixel and this is causing the blurring.
is there any way that you can set the attach movie function to place a movieclip at stage center "to the nearest whole pixel"[code]...
I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.
Mask causing text under it to appear to move...I have a mask that scrolls to the right over text.Before the mask comes on stage the same text is on a different frame before it in the exact same coordinates. But when the mask appears it makes the text under it seem to slightly move to the left. I've realized it is the mask that makes this seem to happen.I'm probably not doing something right with the mask, but I'm not sure.
I've added Helvetica to my Library. I've set it to export for Actionscript. I've given it the name 'Helvetica'. I'm setting the defaultTextFormat. Then I tell it to embedFonts, and the bloody textfield doesn't show up.

I am trying to make scrolling text appear on a few screens, so that when I click on a button to go to the next frame the characters of a sentence will appear one after another as if someone is talking. This works a few times however when I go back to the first frame the following error occurs and the text no longer appears?

I have a FLA file that when I open it and I rollover any title in a palette window all the text in that and every window disappears. For instance the title "Timeline" will vanish. And most of the text in the palette vanishes, for instance all the text in the properties panel disappears like "Position and Size". This does not occur with any of my many other FLA files. I have had some issues with fonts lately. After deleting some bad fonts, my FLA ask me to remap some fonts, which I do. Everything in the FLA appears to be working fine.
I have run into a small graphics glitch in Flash.It seems to be both in FP9 - Exported via Flash CS3, and FP10 Exported via the Flex 4 beta SDK.The glitch /problem manifests itself as embedded text at a small point size "blooming" under certian conditions.It basically looks like the antialiasing becomes fatter at some level of text brightness. I have made a small test case below. (Obviously) You will need to embed the Arial font in your compiled SWF for the below code to work.[code]You can see an example of the problem by rolling over the graphical element here: url..It's not really an option to change to AntiAliasType.NORMAL as it makes the text way less readable at this point size.
I've got a strange problem with the blur tool. I have a movie clip that i have added a motion tween to and applied a blur to it - so the movie clip image blurs as it moves. This was working perfectly when i first tested it and as i've continued with the creating the flash file and re-tested for some reason the blur is no longer displaying. It's strange as it shows as blurred in the Flash file i'm editing but when i press F12 to display in a SWF it's not blurring. I've attached the file i'm working on
My computer jsut keeps freezing, before it completely does this message appears: (I am not playing any movies - I just reinstalled my whole operating system, so its not like I doing tons of things on when this happen, if I open more than one page - things just freeze and even with one page it takes forever to get to anything. I'm externally loading some pretty large swfs (4MB - 5MB) into my main swf using a preloader from a tutorial on this site.

As the swfs are loading i'm getting a pop-up window saying "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"if i click "no" everything continues to run fine. if i click "yes" my movie freezes in the middle of loading with the progress bar stopped at whatever percentage has already loaded.After perusing the forums, it seems that an infinite loop is causing this, but I don't know enough about actionscript to track it down.
publishing as flash 6 makes it so the preloader doesn't even show up and nothing plays. I need to publish as flash player 7 or lower.what is causing this pop up window and how do i get rid of it?

I have a "tag cloud" style menu and want to blur out the other items/buttons when one button is hovered on. I need to attach to each button so that this can work somewhat easily?
I want to be able to blur an imageitmap horizontally and vertically according to a given radious of pixels. Lets say, that I want to blur the picture with a radious of 5 pixels..I saw there's an existing class called BlurFilter, but it receives numbers for the horizontal and vertical blur, and i'm not sure what the number's values mean.
I have a basic movie, where on the main timeline i have a series of stops to pause the movie,so the user can choose to proceed by selecting a play button. When the play button is pressed it plays a video. While it is playing this video there is also a button on stage allowing the user to skip to a frame label. I also have drop down menu on the same frames the play button is on in the form of a movie clip.This drop down menu contains buttons which navigate to the main timeline, to different frame labels.

I have a movie clip with motion in it. I'd like to duplicate this image, blur it, and mask it. I think I can do all of that, but I don't know how to update the blur so it will blur the moving elements in my movie clip. Can anyone explain how to constantly take a snapshot of a movieclip and blur it (while disposing of old snapshots)?

I'm currently testing various ways to zoom images (or rather, whole DisplayList hierarchies). Using scaleX and scaleY works quite well, but when I use the z property to zoom the image (by placing it further away) the image gets blurred when returning to z=0. The image is put in a Sprite ("groundLayer") and that Sprite itself is put in another Sprite ("zoomLayer"). Whenever I'm zooming I'm manipulating properties of the "zoomLayer" only. This image was taken right after returning scaleX and scaleY back to 1.0: This image was taken right after returning z back to 0.0:
I've tried searching for information about this phenomena but couldn't really find anything useful. Can anyone explain what's happening there? Why is Flash blurring the image after manipulating the zproperty? Is there a way to prevent that (well, other than obviously leaving z alone)?
My Flex 4.5 application has many users from Russia and Ukraine with poor internet connections and Socket connections often interrupt and have to be reconnected.

I have a loop function that populates a listbox, sometimes the file it loops from is over 2000 lines, and takes a long time for the listbox to populate. In this time I get the error. If I hit No on the error everything works just fine. I am almost for sure there is no problem with my script, flash just thinks the loop is set to infinity or something and pops open the error box.

i am trying to create a basic game and am having a problem. I'm using swfmill and mtasc (but I doubt that has much impact) and am using ActionScript 2. At the moment I am attempting to add a load of tiles to a set and then move that set of tiles about the screen in one go. The problem I am having is that I can not figure out the best way of linking the set (which is created on the fly) to the _root movie and so it doesn't draw.
I could potentially be doing everything wrong as I have only just started to learn how to use this language. This is basically what I do:
I create a 'Main' class that extends MovieClip and add a new clip of this class to the library.
I also create a 'TileSet' class that also extends MovieClip. This class calls attachMovie (on 'this') to add a number of tile MovieClips from the library to this TileSet.
I create a 'TileSet' within 'Main' (like var myTileSet:TileSet=new TileSet();), so that the Main class can play with the tileset.
When running I see nothing. As I said befor I believe this is due to TileSet not being attached to Main or _root. As a test I changed the TileSet's attachMovie (that attaches the tiles) to be called on '_root' rather than 'this'. This change makes the tiles show when run, but means that I can not move all the tiles by simply moving the TileSet.
I think I could probably add the TileSet into the library and 'place' it (swfmill method to put the clip into the stage), but I would prefer to do it on the fly in pure ActionScript as I think this will be useful later on too.

I followed the tutorial about multi-dimensional arrays and attachmovie. I would like to create a similar one but I want to add setInterval so that the attached movies appear in an order with some time delay. Instead of the loop used in the tutorial I used setInterval and clearinterval. However, all the attached movie clips' _x and_y positions are the same and I can't send the information in the array to the attached movie clips. When I trace() the text boxes it returns undefined.
