ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating A Slide Viewer Containing Thumbnails Without XML?

How can I create a simple sliding viewer that horizontally scrolls through thumbnail images without using XML? I read thru the Kirupa tutorial for loading the thumbnails, and it worked perfectly. However, when you click on a thumbnail, I need it to launch an HTML page in a separate window. (This is a bit more complicated than if it only needed to load an enlarged version of the thumbnail in a separate movie clip.)

Im trying to build a a small viewer that will allow the user the ability to scroll through a certain number of thumbnails. I'm having trouble on how to go about this. I haven't used flash or actionscript 3 in quite a while so Im pretty rusty when it comes to perspective on how to go about this. I basically want the user to interact with a scroll bar (up and down) to move through a certain number of thumbnail pictures (125 x 125).

I made a thumbnails slide, works great, but here the questions. I need the thumbnails to navigation on my home page .. ( go the next page 1.2.3 etc.)

I am customizing the Photo slide show with thumbnails from this site. It is great. I was able to customize it so it would work with bigger pics (640 width X 480 height) basically wider pics then they are tall, but I also have pics that are taller then they are wide (480 height X 640 width).
1. in the thumbnail area the taller pics load over top of the pic before it and then there is a large gap after it.
2. the movie clip that loads the full size image aligns the pics to the upper left corner of the movie clip. I would like it to center the taller pic. I know I will have the same problem with the wider pics when I make the viewing area 640x640 they will look to high.

I'm trying to create a simple slide gallery with one main canvas + thumbnails.Usually the main canvas has auto slide feature.Users can choose the picture on main canvas from thumbnails.When the mouse is over thumbnails I want Canvas to stop auto slide show until that mouse is outside of thumbnails.So I start creating this, and I finish coding for auto slide show and choosing picture from thumbnails. Now I need to code if the mouse is on the thumbnail then temporary stop auto slide show.I thought the right way is to write the code like this,[code]but when I do this, the timer won't stop.

Basically I am trying to make a VERY simple image viewer using a slider bar to navigate through the movie clip frames. I have been searching for hours for a nice simple tutorial or fla file but I cant find one. The movie clip currently has 8 frames each one an image, but it may have more or less.
I don't want to create movie clips inside movie clips; rather I have created a button which is fixed to slide along a 400px line. I would like to know what on earth I write to link the movement of the slider button to the frames in the movie clip... for example the first image would be displayed when the slider button is between 0 and 50 pixels of the line upon which it slides.

I am trying to teach myself to create slide shows in Flash. I have Flash CS4 ProfessionalIt seems like a great tutorial. However, as I am following it, I can't make my slide show work as the tutorial demonstrates. Specificall, after creating the buttons as shown, my slide show will not stop at the next frame, but rapidly runs through all the slides. I have worked with the tutorial for several days and can not get it to work for me. I get the below error messages when I follow the turorial.This is what the tutorial says to do, and as best as I can tell, I am doing just that:This is what part of my screen looks like:

I'm able to create all types of files except for a Flash Slide Presentation. As soon as I create a new presentation I get a R6025 Pure Virtual Function Call error, a message pops up saying Flash has unexpectedly quit and then the program hangs until i have to manually end the program in my task manager.
I've tried to find out a bit more but it sounds like people only get these errors pertaining to their browsers so not sure what this error has got to do with Flash CS4.

I'm working on something where an swf with multiple frames is imported to a movie clip called, viewport.
I've got the simple navigation done but wanted to implement a feature that would let the user see all frames of the swf as thumbnails.
At the moment i'm thinking create boxes and load the swf into each then go to a different frame but there must be a better way of doing this.

I am creating an image gallery with thumbnails on the right inside a symbol so that they can all fade in at the same time, and the bigger images on the left that also fade in. I can only fit 8 thumbnail images at a time, and want to have more than that. So I'll add an arrow below the thumbs so that when you click on it, you can see the other thumbs. I have the first 8 thumbs on the first frame of a symbol and the rest on the second frame.
My problem is that the symbol that contains the thumbs is a graphic symbol, so that the thumbs in it, that are button symbols can be clicked on. I tried using button and movie clip symbols for the thumbnails container but then the buttons (thumbs) can't be clicked any more. That was not a problem till I had to add more than 8 thumbs, cause i need to give the container an instance name, and graphic symbols can't have one.

In case I didn't make my self clear, what I need is to know if there's a way to have a movie clip or button symbol that can have buttons in it that can be clicked on.

I am using currentSlide.gotoNextSlide to change between slides, however I can't make it stop playback on load of each slide.I have a motion tween with I need to NOT play automatically when the slide loads... but no matter how many iterations of stop(), gotoAndStop(), etc I use, nothing will stop the clip from playing when it is loaded!

I am creating a flash slide presentation to use as part of an online portfolio. I have created a presentation that so far has three slides, each containing a flv that I imported and added a skin to.Is there any way to stop the movie on slide one (besides manually) when I move to slide two? I don't care if the mvie returns to the begining or not i just want to beable and view the video on slide two without hearing the sound from slide one.

this is what I am trying to do:
1st slide: pre test (3 radio buttons)
2nd slide: video
3rd slide: post test (3 radio buttons) - this page has a submit button that calls a .php script
The Pre Questions are setup like this:[code].....
wondering if this is a Global Variable problem? Is there any reason that the "variables" variable would stop populating after the first slide? Obviously, they are getting to the last slide since the submit button is passing them (or is the external file doing it?), but don't know why the post ones are not going.

I used the tutorial "Adding Thumbnails" to build a fotoshow. Adding another xml-file I have the problem,that I cannot reload(?) the thumbnails correctly.[code]Then I do not see any thumbnails,if(!) the new thumbnail list contains fewer elements than the old one and if the old thumbnail list was scrolled over the hit_right field before.It is seemingly necessary to reset the internal state of the movieclip. But how can I accompish that?

I am trying to build a vertical slide scroller based on a tutorial for a horizontal slide scroller and am having difficulties undertanding what values I need to change in the code for the slider mc in order to make it work. The horizontal slider is quite smart and there is additonal functionality attached to it to affect it's movement which I'm not too worried about although it would be nice)

I've got a website with three links to three different thumbnail galleries. When I click the link to a gallery that has a lesser number of thumbnails, it fills the difference in numbers in with thumbnails from the previous gallery.

I am making buttons in flash. And i know you can open a pdf externally with acrobat.

The situation is this; I'd like to be able to use some raw 3d coordinates from a text file and display them, joined sequentially in a wireframe model. Then be able to rotate, scale etc the resulting model.The coordinates aren't from a 3d drawing package but rather measured - therefore each point is literally assigned three numbers, in a tab delimited file. With a large number of points (i.e. over 100) is there a way to load in the file and then generate the resulting model?

I'm trying to convert an image viewer into an nav bar. The images are blurred and as the mask rolls over, the sharper image then becomes visible in its place. All the pics are in one MC. I want to add AS to make each image at on release go to a separate url.

Currently, it opens to the first image in the set. I think it would be better if it opened to the first page of the thumbnail browser instead, to let people that are clicking on it know that there are more images in the set than just the one. Otherwise, they would have to know to click on the little "additional guides" icon in the lower right corner.

I just need some help on quite a basic topic. Essentially I want a very simple image viewer. There are small thumbnails on the right, when one of them is clicked, a enlarged version of that image shows up next to all the thumbnails. When another thumbnail is clicked, the new image replaces the previous. I have searched google however all I find are more complex image viewers which you download and link to a gallery...
