Know how to do it? I dont want there to be a limit to the horizontal dimension of the dynamic textbox. I want it to depend on the text itself (expand automatically).

the reason I ask is that I want to use a scollbar with blur and ease, to scroll a mc containing some buttons etc., and a dynamic .txt fed, css styled text-box (with an embedded font).... what a mouth full.
the text in the box will be constantly growing, it's a last-date-first news area for a band..

What I want to happen is that the quiz_holder box expands sideways, then when this is finished, it expands lengthways. At the moment it's just getting to the point where it's expanded sideways and then stops?

I need to tile this as my entire background for my full screen flash site. flip the image horizontally for every other placement horizontally, and then i need it to flip vertically for every other Vertical placement. We've all seen them before. Those obtrusive ads that expand their size when your mouse rolls over them. How are they done? I'm assuming it's more than actionscript code, and something is done with javascript or something.
View 1 RepliesI'm having is keeping the other mc boxes a set distance away on both sides at all times while one box shrinks and another expands.I've gotten it to stay away in a drag example, but I can't get it to constantly stay away while the animation is expanding/ shrinking.On a less important note, I've tried scaling (expanding/shrinking) the boxes using actionscript via the x/yscale properties, but I noticed it scales uniformly, I think the word is. To understand what I need, transform a box, circle, whatever and then hold ALT + transform it. It expands only on that one particular point.

i have to make a banner that expands over the website it sits in to reveal more content. i've never made one before so i was wondering a few things.
1) is there anything special i'd have to do to the flash to make it work?

I put one in a movie clip and when i try to change the alpha of it everything else in it changes its alpha but the not the DT box. Could someone plz verify for me that u can't change alpha and help me find a component that allows alpha control with a dynamic text box. thx in advance.

This is what I tried, I am very new to Action Script, so excuse the futility of my code.
If you take a look at my flash movie you will see that I have draggable movie clips, which contain dynamic text fields. These text fields contain text drawn in from a simple xml document. The problem I have is that the text in the text fields is hedged right next to the border of the autosized text box. This makes them look untidy and in the worst case difficult to read. I wonder how I can add some margin to the left and right of the text to fill in some space.The code which formats the text boxes is:
