View 1 RepliesThis is a custom flash template I downloaded, when you watch/use the template you can see about me, and all the text in it, however when I attempt to edit it to my specs, I see the frame where it is located, but I cannot edit any text, because I can't SEE any text!!So basically, in editing mode, I don't see any text to edit, but when using the template, I see a lot of info... I am currently using flash for the first time to create a digital version of a board game for a project. This is the first time I have used actionscript and flash for that matter. I have learned a lot from this website but have finally hit a roadblock.In my game I have trivial pursuit like "pies" that the player gets pieces of as they progress. Once they get all 8 pieces, they win. I have each piece of the pie for all 4 players set as an instance of a movie clip and have their alpha set to 0 at the beginning. So i have 4 instances of each piece of the pie labeled pie0player1, pie1player1, ... , pie7player1, pie0player2, ... , pie7player2, etc.I have tried just running a method from my external Game class actionscript file that would change the alpha of these respective pie piece as the player earns them so that they are visible.My first question is: Is it possible to change the alpha of these movieclips from my external Game class file? Or do I need to make all of these changes within the timeline?followup questions being: If I can edit these values from my class file, what would be the best way to do this? I want to use this .swf in my website, but I also want to edit the text in it according to my guests name.For instance, I created a .swf from swftext with the string "Docent" and embed it to my html code. but i don't want to display docent when josh enters to the site. I want basically delete "Docent" out and write "josh" instead.

I've done extensive searching and found the best (or only) way to do this is to open my index.html page in dreamweaver or textedit and add them there. Sounds easy enough but when I open my html page to look at the code I get this error:

I'm edit a flash file that uses about 11 different fonts. When I toss it into the editor and publish it some characters are missing from the product, such as W's and M's. I've installed the fonts that were included with the flash file into windows7.

I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I have a page that needs simple image editing within the page. It can be either in flash or Java. Are there any open source tools that you can recommend? I am looking for a flash or Java tool that can do the following:
Cropping
Resizing
Nothing else required but simple features like this will be a plus.

View 1 RepliesI bought an Easy Flash Template from web-flash-template.com. The template consists of a flash file (fully flash based site), PSD files, image files and a .txt file for all the text. There's no problem editing all the files, except for the .fla file. I am trying to edit it to add a new page, embed a youtube video, etc and I see no layers for each screen. When I look in the ActionScript I see some details there which mentions screen 50 or 95, etc, but I can't edit any of those screens. Either I'm missing the boat thoroughly (which could be ) or this is a poorly designed template.So, my question is, would anyone here who is a little more experienced with flash be willing to let me email them the file to take a quick look at it to give me any pointers?

View 3 RepliesThe server hosting our FMS does not have space to adequately store the media files over time. I have since connected a 500GB external drive to the server. This drive is mapped as the Z drive. I am not exactly sure how I need to edit my application.xml for all http requests to point to this external drive. Below is a small sample of the file. How would I correctly edit this file? Would I just add a line that says <Streams>/;${Z:VOD_DIR}</Streams> ? Do I need to delete either of the below lines?

I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger).Here is the code that embeds the ammap:

Let me give the context first. A user opens a local html file which has a reference to a network url of an swf file to embed.
(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request?
(
2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?
When I use swfobject (or, for that matter, publish from Flash)...if my HTML file is in the same folder as my Flash .swf (called "bin")...the flash file displays as a blank white page. I can tell the .swf is on the page, because when I right-click I see the flash context menu...however, the swf is blank. So the path isn't written incorrectly.If I move the HTML file inside the "bin" folder and change the path from "bin/myFile.swf" to "myFile.swf" everything works again...what gives?I think it might have something to do with using the Loader class...I am using loaders to loader external .jpeg files. But I don't know what to do about this other than to keep my HTML files in my "bin" folder which is a bit of a pain.

View 1 RepliesI have create a Flash swf file.I need a demension of 162 x 20 px and have changed the Publish Setting for the Html to to 162 x 20.After I publish the size of the SWF is 162 x 162 when I put it in the client's html file.If I try to re-size it again to the 162 x 20 the text in the SWF file gets so small you can hardly see it.
