Dec 15, 2009I have been asked to create a photo canvas website that allows users to upload an image, then apply several effects such as re-sizing/cropping/desaturate, then viewing the updated image on a generic wall and going to check out to buy the canvas.Similar site that has the features i want is this : http:[url]....
I am pretty new to web developing/designing, i am confident with html,css and actionscript to an extent, but have only used small parts of php before.how to go between html > php >flash >back to html again.From what i understand i need to create the following functions:
1. Create a general html website which will store the upload form and flash photo editor swf on, when the user first access's the site i start the php session...
2. The user then uploads there image to the server using a simple php upload form which will store the file and create a unique named file also on the server...
3. The flash editor swf will then load up on the html page. Inside the actionscript of the swf i will tell flash to continue with the php session by calling it again and call users image on the server with the 'file reference' command. The editing functions such as cropping, canvas size will all have variables to mark what the user has chosen and these varaibles will get ent back to the html page using php to keep track of them for the checkout process...
4. Once the editing has finished the user will click 'finish' in the swf taking them to the php shopping basket/checkout which will call the variables sent in flash to determine final cost depending on what effects chosen.
Is the above correct and more importantly is it possible? The main part i am struggling to get my head around is editing in flash (say changing the uploaded image to 20 x 26) and then saving this back to the server and sending the new settings back into the html/php page.Is this all possible without using database and tables such as MySql?

Sep 8, 2009This is a custom flash template I downloaded, when you watch/use the template you can see about me, and all the text in it, however when I attempt to edit it to my specs, I see the frame where it is located, but I cannot edit any text, because I can't SEE any text!!So basically, in editing mode, I don't see any text to edit, but when using the template, I see a lot of info... I have no idea what to do, and please keep in mind I am in no means a professional, or even intermediately good with Flash...

May 12, 2010I'm working on a stand-alone application and NOT a web-based application, so I'm trying to do this strictly with AS3, if possible. For example, if I have an XML file that looks like this:

How do I change the value of the USERNAME attribute via AS3?
I've tried something like this already:
var xmlData:XML();
...
xmlData = XML(event.target.data);
xmlData.profile.username = "Mary";
but when I open the XML file, it's not writing "Mary" in place of "Joe."
ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Editing Movie Clips From File
Mar 31, 2011I am currently using flash for the first time to create a digital version of a board game for a project. This is the first time I have used actionscript and flash for that matter. I have learned a lot from this website but have finally hit a roadblock.In my game I have trivial pursuit like "pies" that the player gets pieces of as they progress. Once they get all 8 pieces, they win. I have each piece of the pie for all 4 players set as an instance of a movie clip and have their alpha set to 0 at the beginning. So i have 4 instances of each piece of the pie labeled pie0player1, pie1player1, ... , pie7player1, pie0player2, ... , pie7player2, etc.I have tried just running a method from my external Game class actionscript file that would change the alpha of these respective pie piece as the player earns them so that they are visible.My first question is: Is it possible to change the alpha of these movieclips from my external Game class file? Or do I need to make all of these changes within the timeline?followup questions being: If I can edit these values from my class file, what would be the best way to do this? I would like to access the movieclips using something like the following code if possible: [code]Do i need to store these movieclips in a 2d array to access them dynamically like this?

Dec 8, 2011I'm currently making a polaroid image viewer working off of this tutorial: [URL] It's my first time working in Flash, so I'm kind-of on the verge of a mental breakdown. Anyways, to my own surprise I've actually gotten it to work and look great. My issue? I'm making the overall project larger and with more images (800 x 600 with seven images). Anyways, when I publish preview the flash document it shows up 800 x 600 but all of the polaroids are squished together as though it's still 600 x 600. Is there a way that I can space them out a bit? Or, even better, is there a way that I can have each of the polaroids sit in a specific spot on the flash document?

Nov 7, 2011I have an aplication which brings up an image for editing in flash. Here is what happens. I click on A tool and insert 2 text boxes on the image and type something. Then I click on the Arrow tool and double click on text in Text box 1 to select it. Then try to change the font color from the font menu icon. It does not work. But after selecting the text in text box 1 and trying to change the font size from the menu seems to work fine.

The user may chose to over lay text or images over the image, with resizability, etc.My questions are:

F8 :: Editing All Files Except For .fla File
Jan 23, 2012I bought an Easy Flash Template from web-flash-template.com. The template consists of a flash file (fully flash based site), PSD files, image files and a .txt file for all the text. There's no problem editing all the files, except for the .fla file. I am trying to edit it to add a new page, embed a youtube video, etc and I see no layers for each screen. When I look in the ActionScript I see some details there which mentions screen 50 or 95, etc, but I can't edit any of those screens. Either I'm missing the boat thoroughly (which could be ) or this is a poorly designed template.So, my question is, would anyone here who is a little more experienced with flash be willing to let me email them the file to take a quick look at it to give me any pointers?

Apr 20, 2010The server hosting our FMS does not have space to adequately store the media files over time. I have since connected a 500GB external drive to the server. This drive is mapped as the Z drive. I am not exactly sure how I need to edit my application.xml for all http requests to point to this external drive. Below is a small sample of the file. How would I correctly edit this file? Would I just add a line that says <Streams>/;${Z:VOD_DIR}</Streams> ? Do I need to delete either of the below lines?

Flash :: Client - Side Image Processing - Creating A PNG Image From A PDF File
Feb 1, 2010We're building a web-based application that requires heavy image processing. We'd like this processing load to be on the client as much as possible and we'd like to support as much platforms (even mobiles) as much as possible. Here's the info: Image processing is rasterization from some data. Think like creating a PNG image from a PDF file. We don't have a lot of server power. So client-side processing is a bit of a must.
So, we're considering: Flash - most widespread, but from what i read has lackluster development tools. (and no iPhone/iPad support for now). Silverlight - allows us to use .NET CLR, so a big ++ (a lot of code is in .NET). But is not supported for most mobiles ( rumored android support in the future) HTML5 + Javascript - probably the most "portable" option. The problem is having to rewrite all that image processing code in Javascript.
Clarification: I don't need further ideas on what libraries are available for Silverlight and Javascript. My dilemma is choosing Silverlight means no support for most mobiles choosing Flash means we have to redevelop most of our code AND no iPhone/iPad support HTML5 + Javascript we have to redevelop most of our code and not fully supported yet in all browsers choosing two (Silverlight + Flash) will be too costly Any out-of-the-box or bright ideas / alternatives
Flash - Convert A Local Image File To A Dataurl For Use In Image Src?

Dec 18, 2009Is there a way to edit an imported movie into Flash (CS2)? I try to remove frames, but then it seems to remove them from the end of my movie and not where I specified (in the middle).
I tried editing the movie in another program and then importing that into Flash, but Flash loads my entire clip again.

Editing XML Flash Template
Jun 3, 2011I have two questions (I'm a photographer and flash novice):
1) I just bought this flash template (URL...) and I need to edit it. Rewriting the text is easy, I just rewrite it in XML files, but I cant figure out how to change the font, font color and font size. Could somebody tell me how to do it?
2) I also bought this template (URL...) and I cant figure out how to edit name in the header and text in the top menu. I really cant find it anywhere (I dont see it in Adobe Flash and I dont see any jpeg or PSD file in the flash directory...)

Is there a way he can easily edit the basic text online without having to use Adobe Flash (it would be even better if he could add photos as-well). Jun 23, 2009Immediately after finding out I was laid off I began to try and increase my online presence by building a webpage.I found a flash web template that I was able to highly customize however I can't figure out how to add additional hyperlinks, images, etc. This crosses the line between dreamweaver and flash. The flash file is a complied file that flash creates and I can only edit it if I have all the original files (kinda, there are other ways around that). Anyways, I have all the files, I think however I still can't seem to figure it out.
I would like to add additional images, hyperlinks, and maybe even move some stuff around however it seems like everything is either locked down of difficult to modify. I have looked around online for some good tutorials however I can't seem to find any that match what I'm trying to do. Would it be best to try and build the hyperlinks in flash or should I do that in dreamweaver? Dreamweaver I'm guessing, however since I'm editing the site via .xml the insert hyperlink capabilities within dreamweaver are not enabled unless I'm directly editing the index.html. By the way, I'm using CS4 Flash and Dreamweaver. [URL].
