Flex :: Libraries That Support Image Editing?
Mar 8, 2011I'm looking for something that will support image rotation, multiple image layers, cropping, etc., and allow the client to customize which features are to be shown.

View 1 RepliesI realize a JavaScript library like jQuery that is specific to the HTML / DOM wouldn't work nor make sense in a Flash ActionScript application. But what about other JavaScript libraries? I was reading that ActionScript is a superset of JavaScript / ECMAScript which is what got me wondering. If it wouldn't use JavaScript libraries "out of the box" could a JavaScript library be adapted relatively easily? Also, does ActionScript support XMLHttpRequest or have a rough equivalent?
View 1 RepliesI'm creating a small size Flex movies which contains two line charts, at the moment the size of the release build swf is 343KB, which is too large for our needs.
I've tried changing the loading of the SWC file to Runtime Shared Libraries, but I found that this removed the text of the charts (the text for the x and y axis). Why would the text be removed when the Framework linkage is set as a Runtime shared library?
edit one aspect of a flash intro? I just need to add an image where some text is and cannot figure it out....
View 1 RepliesI'm currently making a polaroid image viewer working off of this tutorial: [URL] It's my first time working in Flash, so I'm kind-of on the verge of a mental breakdown. Anyways, to my own surprise I've actually gotten it to work and look great. My issue? I'm making the overall project larger and with more images (800 x 600 with seven images). Anyways, when I publish preview the flash document it shows up 800 x 600 but all of the polaroids are squished together as though it's still 600 x 600. Is there a way that I can space them out a bit? Or, even better, is there a way that I can have each of the polaroids sit in a specific spot on the flash document?
View 3 RepliesI have been asked to create a photo canvas website that allows users to upload an image, then apply several effects such as re-sizing/cropping/desaturate, then viewing the updated image on a generic wall and going to check out to buy the canvas.Similar site that has the features i want is this : http:[url]....
I am pretty new to web developing/designing, i am confident with html,css and actionscript to an extent, but have only used small parts of php before.how to go between html > php >flash >back to html again.From what i understand i need to create the following functions:
1. Create a general html website which will store the upload form and flash photo editor swf on, when the user first access's the site i start the php session...
2. The user then uploads there image to the server using a simple php upload form which will store the file and create a unique named file also on the server...
3. The flash editor swf will then load up on the html page. Inside the actionscript of the swf i will tell flash to continue with the php session by calling it again and call users image on the server with the 'file reference' command. The editing functions such as cropping, canvas size will all have variables to mark what the user has chosen and these varaibles will get ent back to the html page using php to keep track of them for the checkout process...
4. Once the editing has finished the user will click 'finish' in the swf taking them to the php shopping basket/checkout which will call the variables sent in flash to determine final cost depending on what effects chosen.
Is the above correct and more importantly is it possible? The main part i am struggling to get my head around is editing in flash (say changing the uploaded image to 20 x 26) and then saving this back to the server and sending the new settings back into the html/php page.Is this all possible without using database and tables such as MySql?
I need to develop a Flash-based ONLINE Image Editing tool. It will be having many features including croping, coloring, blurring etc.
Google is not directing me to any literature on such applications using flash.
I have an aplication which brings up an image for editing in flash. Here is what happens. I click on A tool and insert 2 text boxes on the image and type something. Then I click on the Arrow tool and double click on text in Text box 1 to select it. Then try to change the font color from the font menu icon. It does not work. But after selecting the text in text box 1 and trying to change the font size from the menu seems to work fine.
View 5 RepliesI have a page that needs simple image editing within the page. It can be either in flash or Java. Are there any open source tools that you can recommend? I am looking for a flash or Java tool that can do the following:
Cropping
Resizing
Nothing else required but simple features like this will be a plus.
I would love to get some information from some of the old pros on here as to best practices using flash for large scale environmental displays:
1. Flash supports High Definition correct? I did a google search, and see that it does - but unsure whether I need a plug-in or it's just a setting? My question is more along the lines of - can the flash animation be highDef, or only the videos it displays?
2. I am working on a very large (like 40ft tall) environmental graphic, and curious .how you deal with images at that size? I remember vaugely, that they don't need to be 300dpi, but do i still need to maintain a certain resolution?
I'm using JWPlayer to serve an html5 video with a flash fallback.I'd also like to have an image fallback if there is neither html5 nor flash support but I can't see how to do this.
My code is as follows:
modes: [
{ type: "html5", },
{ type: "flash", src="http://www.mysite.com/jwplayer/player.swf"}
],

Where are the signed, cached flex libraries on a windows / mac / linux system? They don't appear to be in my browser cache... so where is adobe keeping them? I found the files. But can I clear the cache? After trashing the files in windows, I don't see the files get downloaded again (with fiddler).

View 1 RepliesI am entirely new into flash. Never ever written even a line of action script.I am triying to develop an image editing tool to be embedded in my webpage.The key features I want in the tool are: I have a fixed background image. The user may chose to over lay text or images over the image, with resizability, etc.My questions are:
1) can I consider Flash with action script and javascript a platform for this?
2) Where do I start.
3) what all do I need to start with.
working on a medial project does flash support dicom image loaded dynamic into flash. like jpg images.
View 1 RepliesI have two Flex libraries that reference each other. Both use link type "External", and I manually load then with the Loader class.I'm getting the error "A cycle was detected in the build path of project: foo".
View 2 RepliesI'm looking for a good "Wizard" library in Flex before rolling my own. The important features are: Multiple custom input panels in sequence. Ability to prepopulate the data fields using an object, but cancelling at any point leaves original data unmodified. Ability to move to back and forth in panel sequence without losing data.
View 3 RepliesI'm currently working on a WYSISYG editor that allows the user to move, resize and rotate shapes by directly manipulating them. The resizing seems to be fairly complex when the shape is rotated. I got this working for non-rotated shapes, but it will take some trigonometric calculations to resize shapes that are rotated. The registration point is always is the middle of the rectangle because this makes rotating a lot easier. Before I start implementing this, I was wondering if anyone knew of any libraries or sample source code that does this, or could share some tips and tricks to calculate the transformations.
[Code]...
I attached a screenshot of what I'm trying to accomplish and another one that has some lines drawn onto it that should allow me to deduct the trigonometric calculations. The cross is the cursor.
I'm writing a helper class and I want it to be used in both flex and pure actionscript projects. For example:
public static function listenToPositionAndSize(control:DisplayObject):void
{
if (mxLibrariesSupported)
{
control.addEventListener(mx.events.ResizeEvent.RESIZE, onControlResize);
control.addEventListener(mx.events.MoveEvent.MOVE, onControlMove);
[Code]...
EDIT: One simple reason to do this is: if you check the above example, I would prefer mx.events.MoveEvent.MOVE (if available) instead of flash.events.Event.ENTER_FRAME for performance issues.
In our application ,we have diagrams which make useof degrafa libraries.When this application is automated with flexmonkey any operation done on these diagrams are not recorded nor played back.
Rest of the application like filling the textfield and dropdown are working fine.
Is there any way I could automate these degrafa diagrams like clicking on it or changing the description.
I have been searching google, Apache Docs*, and FlashPunk forums looking for an answer to this: I cannot get Ant/Flex to find and compile a folder of libraries in *.AS format.
Here is my build.xml.
<project>
<!-- Flex SDK Properties -->
<property name="FLEX_HOME" value="/opt/flex"/>
<property name="MXMLC.JAR" value="${FLEX_HOME}/lib/mxmlc.jar"/>
<!-- Project Properties -->
[Code] .....
Results in many errors of the type "Definition net.flashpunk.masks:Grid could not be found" even though when I open the directories I can see the *.AS files right there. I decided to use Ant because neither FlashDevelop for Windows nor Eclipse for Linux seemto work for me.
my Flex project has grown to over 1 Mb in size in release mode and now I am trying to cut it up into modules.
One of my SWC libraries is fairly large and I want to use it in multiple modules, so I think I can turn it into a RSL? how can I go about turning the SWC library into a RSL? I am building with Flash Builder (Flex).
In my website www.bridalcamera.com I'd like to include some attractive zoom to show details of my image editing. [URL]..
View 5 RepliesI am beginner in flex as3 applications. I need to develop a 3d game using flex will you the some 3d engines used for flex applications.
View 2 Replies I work with Flash CS4 and lately I've been looking for certain classes to ease my work. To be more precise Atom/RSS2.0 parsing classes. But the best result I found needed me to work with FLEX. Now I can't get this to work with flash CS4. There's no apparent way to make this work. I can build my own parser or look for one that doesn't need Flex. But it looks like the future is more FLEX oriented.
EDIT : I know how Flex Code and SWC files should work. But every time I try to use them I get some bizarre error about missing classes and methods that are part of FLEX but not included in Flash...
i don't understand flash plugin only support .swf file,not support .flv file? always require load a swf file for play flv file, for exampes:
<embed type="video/x-flv" src="http://www.my.com/test.flv"></embed>
must be use a swf for play
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.my.com/player.swf" flashvars=""></embed>
I have to implement AEC in Flex video conferencing application. I know that it can not be done directly in Flash. I'm thinking to write a native application or library that will do AEC outside Flex.
As far I know Adobe Connect Pro is using some external library that do AEC. I'd like to follow this direction and do something similiar.
There comes two possibilities in my mind:
1) Independend custom AEC filter.
The custom AEC filter will be run in the background and will be processing all data from microphone and sound card and doing AEC. The echo signal will be the data that is to be played but delayed in a temporary buffer, something like this: aec(input, delayed_input, output).
I don't know if it work, because Flash microphone input doesn't know about my custom input and the same with the speakers. But how it is done in WinXP/Vista that have AEC at the system level?
2) AEC filter interacting with Flex's NativeProcess.
The filter will be run by NativeProcess. Flex app will pass microphone sound, received remote voice to the filter and return voice with echo removed and then Flex will output this to the speakers. Will it be correct?
If the 2) method is OK then I have following questions:
I will start with Speex's AEC so in what format should be the data pased from Flex? If I choose Flex Speex codec for sound compression can I pass it directly to the speex library? Will be the performance OK? Calling NativeProcess library every sound frame buffer can be time consuming I think. Why there is no AEC implementation in AS3 that can be used directly from Flash? As far I know to do AEC you must have echo data and microphone data (in Flash 10 there is direct access to the microphone). There is definetly something that is stopping doing it like this but I don't know what it is yet :) Is there some free AEC implementation or a DSP library with in except Speex's that I can use?
I have developed a flex application using the data visualization components. I am now trying to optimize the application and one of approaches I am trying is to use Runtime Shared Libraries.I have configured Flex Builder to deploy with Runtime Shared Libraries and have added the .swz file for the framework, datavisualization and rpc share libraries. After deploying, my application loads, however my axis values within each of my charts are missing. The axes themselves are shown, however they do not have their label units displayed. The series themselves are displayed too.I have tried this using the 3.4 SDK and also the 3.2 SDK within Flex Builder. I also tried compiling flex using the mxmlc ANT tasks and got the same results.I made sure that the framework RSL is getting loaded first and I also made sure that the global flash cache has been cleared before I tested.I can see from my access logs that the .swz files are getting loaded the first time I make a request for my application, so I am confident that I properly cleared the flash player global cache.
Does anyone know why my axis values would be missing only when I deploy with RSL??? Switching back to Merged mode, my application works fine and it is only when I deploy with RSLs that I get the issue.I have also tried to compile using only the framework RSL and not the datavisualization or rpc RSLs (keeping them in merged mode) and I get the same results, no axis values.
I built a prototype in Adobe Flex, they (customers) liked it. Everything was fine until they later told me that iPads / iOS needs to be supported too.I checked out Adobe's Packager for iPhone. We're evaluating that and we will know if it works out in a couple of days. (We need to get through Apple's red tape and certificates raj so this angle is delayed by a few days!)
There is a growing voice for using HTML5/Canvas as a technology platform itself. And despite being quite proficient in Flex, I think this makes sense.
I'm in need of a HTML5 library that can:
Render "widgets" i.e. containers with forms and components(this should be easy and possible using POHJC - Plain old HTML,JavaScript and CSS )Provide a Tree like control for laying out some data Provide a Canvas where data structures can be represented as basic shapes Provide drag and drop capabilities between Trees, Buttons and Canvas Provide some sort of Tab Navigator container (I guess JQuery works here) Interact with back-end services (JSON/XML calls will be okay, but mapping directly with back-end entities will be awesome!)Renders on latest versions of major browsers, Android OS and iOS (WebKit for mobile?)
I'm ready to give JQuery & JQuery UI a try. I looked at Sencha / ExtJS but it seems we need to maintain two code bases one for normal browsers and the other for mobiles (is that correct?)Single code base, I don't want to suggest to them that multiple code bases for the client need to be maintained. That's a last resort option and would lead to complete ruling out of HTML5 with Flash apps and native apps being developed.Canvas capabilities - I don't want to work with raw canvas and shape tags. This too is a last resort option. Is there any abstraction available?
I am looking for utility/helper classes for Adobe AIR/actionscript 3.0 file system and native process utilization. Could someone point me to opensource library projects specific to Adobe AIR..
