Flex 4 / Apache Ant - Cannot Load ActionScript Libraries
Jun 26, 2011
I have been searching google, Apache Docs*, and FlashPunk forums looking for an answer to this: I cannot get Ant/Flex to find and compile a folder of libraries in *.AS format.
Here is my build.xml.
<project>
<!-- Flex SDK Properties -->
<property name="FLEX_HOME" value="/opt/flex"/>
<property name="MXMLC.JAR" value="${FLEX_HOME}/lib/mxmlc.jar"/>
<!-- Project Properties -->
[Code] .....
Results in many errors of the type "Definition net.flashpunk.masks:Grid could not be found" even though when I open the directories I can see the *.AS files right there. I decided to use Ant because neither FlashDevelop for Windows nor Eclipse for Linux seemto work for me.

I am making an AS3 project in FB4. In our workflow, we have artists compile art into SWC files which the I then link as 'Referenced Libraries' in FB4. Then I set the "Link Type" of the SWC files to "external" instead of merged into code. This should create SWFs corresponding to the SWC files in the output folder, right?
This doesn't seem to be the case. I am only seeing one SWF file: the main_app's.I was trying to make it so that I can use a library manager to load the files dynamically.I tried extracting the swfs manually, but it seems the main_app still compiles all the swcs to itself. I made sure the Link Type was set to external. The file size for the main_app between "external" and "merged to code" seem to be the same.

I've started using Shared Libraries and this subject peaked my interest... does Flash still have load timing issues with Shared Libraries? I found a few site online that mention that your Flash project will load but if it didn't have time to load your Shared Library, it simply won't load it and you are out of luck. Is this still true with the latest version of Flash? If so, how do I preload the library to make sure it doesn't happen?

I am a Flex developer. I think Flash builder is a great development environment for developing rich internet applications , 3D games, etc.
Now I am worried about the latest news related to Flex. Some blogs and news wrote flex is going to die. Another one wrote flex has not died.
How can I know latest updates about Flex in Apache. I am visiting Apache incubator site about Flex daily

I'm creating a small size Flex movies which contains two line charts, at the moment the size of the release build swf is 343KB, which is too large for our needs.
I've tried changing the loading of the SWC file to Runtime Shared Libraries, but I found that this removed the text of the charts (the text for the x and y axis). Why would the text be removed when the Framework linkage is set as a Runtime shared library?

How can I send a custom response upon a custom request on a xampp/wamp based Apache server upon a connection to a specific port?I'm trying to reply to the a flash app is requesting in order to allow a crossdomain http GET request.The flash policy request, is made to port 843 by default and i'd like to keep it that way.The port should get a (ending with a null char, is just for the reference) and replying with something like:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
[code]....
As far as i know, the request should be return as a plain text, although Content-type, might be needed as well.I've tried using the following:[URL] and although it listens to the port and accepts connections, it doesn't reply with the specified xml upon request.I wrote a simple C# web server which listens to port 843, and serves the aforementioned policy - it worked out just fine, however, when using a SecureSocket connection for a secure connection (i.e opening a socket to a HTTPS/SSL protocol) - the request that is sent is encrypted using the hosts certificate. As far as i know, there's no way of listening or acquiring the servers certificate and decrypting the data via an external app hence, the only way is to somehow 'teach' Apache to respond with the crossdomain policy after a proper request is sent via an appropriate port.
Another idea i have is to read the server's certificate file stored in the Apache directory regardless of what happens on the server itself, though imo it's an overkill.

Where are the signed, cached flex libraries on a windows / mac / linux system? They don't appear to be in my browser cache... so where is adobe keeping them? I found the files. But can I clear the cache? After trashing the files in windows, I don't see the files get downloaded again (with fiddler).

I'm looking for a good "Wizard" library in Flex before rolling my own. The important features are: Multiple custom input panels in sequence. Ability to prepopulate the data fields using an object, but cancelling at any point leaves original data unmodified. Ability to move to back and forth in panel sequence without losing data.

I'm currently working on a WYSISYG editor that allows the user to move, resize and rotate shapes by directly manipulating them. The resizing seems to be fairly complex when the shape is rotated. I got this working for non-rotated shapes, but it will take some trigonometric calculations to resize shapes that are rotated. The registration point is always is the middle of the rectangle because this makes rotating a lot easier. Before I start implementing this, I was wondering if anyone knew of any libraries or sample source code that does this, or could share some tips and tricks to calculate the transformations.
[Code]...
I attached a screenshot of what I'm trying to accomplish and another one that has some lines drawn onto it that should allow me to deduct the trigonometric calculations. The cross is the cursor.

I'm writing a helper class and I want it to be used in both flex and pure actionscript projects. For example:
public static function listenToPositionAndSize(control:DisplayObject):void
{
if (mxLibrariesSupported)
{
control.addEventListener(mx.events.ResizeEvent.RESIZE, onControlResize);
control.addEventListener(mx.events.MoveEvent.MOVE, onControlMove);
[Code]...
EDIT: One simple reason to do this is: if you check the above example, I would prefer mx.events.MoveEvent.MOVE (if available) instead of flash.events.Event.ENTER_FRAME for performance issues.

In our application ,we have diagrams which make useof degrafa libraries.When this application is automated with flexmonkey any operation done on these diagrams are not recorded nor played back.
Rest of the application like filling the textfield and dropdown are working fine.
Is there any way I could automate these degrafa diagrams like clicking on it or changing the description.

my Flex project has grown to over 1 Mb in size in release mode and now I am trying to cut it up into modules.
One of my SWC libraries is fairly large and I want to use it in multiple modules, so I think I can turn it into a RSL? how can I go about turning the SWC library into a RSL? I am building with Flash Builder (Flex).

I work with Flash CS4 and lately I've been looking for certain classes to ease my work. To be more precise Atom/RSS2.0 parsing classes. But the best result I found needed me to work with FLEX. Now I can't get this to work with flash CS4. There's no apparent way to make this work. I can build my own parser or look for one that doesn't need Flex. But it looks like the future is more FLEX oriented.
EDIT : I know how Flex Code and SWC files should work. But every time I try to use them I get some bizarre error about missing classes and methods that are part of FLEX but not included in Flash...

I have to implement AEC in Flex video conferencing application. I know that it can not be done directly in Flash. I'm thinking to write a native application or library that will do AEC outside Flex.
As far I know Adobe Connect Pro is using some external library that do AEC. I'd like to follow this direction and do something similiar.
There comes two possibilities in my mind:
1) Independend custom AEC filter.
The custom AEC filter will be run in the background and will be processing all data from microphone and sound card and doing AEC. The echo signal will be the data that is to be played but delayed in a temporary buffer, something like this: aec(input, delayed_input, output).
I don't know if it work, because Flash microphone input doesn't know about my custom input and the same with the speakers. But how it is done in WinXP/Vista that have AEC at the system level?
2) AEC filter interacting with Flex's NativeProcess.
The filter will be run by NativeProcess. Flex app will pass microphone sound, received remote voice to the filter and return voice with echo removed and then Flex will output this to the speakers. Will it be correct?
If the 2) method is OK then I have following questions:
I will start with Speex's AEC so in what format should be the data pased from Flex? If I choose Flex Speex codec for sound compression can I pass it directly to the speex library? Will be the performance OK? Calling NativeProcess library every sound frame buffer can be time consuming I think. Why there is no AEC implementation in AS3 that can be used directly from Flash? As far I know to do AEC you must have echo data and microphone data (in Flash 10 there is direct access to the microphone). There is definetly something that is stopping doing it like this but I don't know what it is yet :) Is there some free AEC implementation or a DSP library with in except Speex's that I can use?

I have developed a flex application using the data visualization components. I am now trying to optimize the application and one of approaches I am trying is to use Runtime Shared Libraries.I have configured Flex Builder to deploy with Runtime Shared Libraries and have added the .swz file for the framework, datavisualization and rpc share libraries. After deploying, my application loads, however my axis values within each of my charts are missing. The axes themselves are shown, however they do not have their label units displayed. The series themselves are displayed too.I have tried this using the 3.4 SDK and also the 3.2 SDK within Flex Builder. I also tried compiling flex using the mxmlc ANT tasks and got the same results.I made sure that the framework RSL is getting loaded first and I also made sure that the global flash cache has been cleared before I tested.I can see from my access logs that the .swz files are getting loaded the first time I make a request for my application, so I am confident that I properly cleared the flash player global cache.
Does anyone know why my axis values would be missing only when I deploy with RSL??? Switching back to Merged mode, my application works fine and it is only when I deploy with RSLs that I get the issue.I have also tried to compile using only the framework RSL and not the datavisualization or rpc RSLs (keeping them in merged mode) and I get the same results, no axis values.

I built a prototype in Adobe Flex, they (customers) liked it. Everything was fine until they later told me that iPads / iOS needs to be supported too.I checked out Adobe's Packager for iPhone. We're evaluating that and we will know if it works out in a couple of days. (We need to get through Apple's red tape and certificates raj so this angle is delayed by a few days!)
There is a growing voice for using HTML5/Canvas as a technology platform itself. And despite being quite proficient in Flex, I think this makes sense.
I'm in need of a HTML5 library that can:
Render "widgets" i.e. containers with forms and components(this should be easy and possible using POHJC - Plain old HTML,JavaScript and CSS )Provide a Tree like control for laying out some data Provide a Canvas where data structures can be represented as basic shapes Provide drag and drop capabilities between Trees, Buttons and Canvas Provide some sort of Tab Navigator container (I guess JQuery works here) Interact with back-end services (JSON/XML calls will be okay, but mapping directly with back-end entities will be awesome!)Renders on latest versions of major browsers, Android OS and iOS (WebKit for mobile?)
I'm ready to give JQuery & JQuery UI a try. I looked at Sencha / ExtJS but it seems we need to maintain two code bases one for normal browsers and the other for mobiles (is that correct?)Single code base, I don't want to suggest to them that multiple code bases for the client need to be maintained. That's a last resort option and would lead to complete ruling out of HTML5 with Flash apps and native apps being developed.Canvas capabilities - I don't want to work with raw canvas and shape tags. This too is a last resort option. Is there any abstraction available?

I have a perl socket on my apache server that correctly takes input from sockets and sends it back out to every socket connected to the perl socket. I have tested the perl socket, and it works correctly.
When I launch the Flash in the IDE, as a flash program, it functions correctly with the perl socket.
However, when I try to launch the Flash in a Browser on my apache server, it tells me it is unable to connect to the server.However, I am seeing from feedback from my perl socket, the flash connects for about a half of a second, and thats it.
What could be the problem, do I have to include code in the flash to allow XMLSockets to connect in a browser as well? Is there certain things I need to do with my apache server to make it work?
Also if I 'Preview as HTML' from Adobe Flash CS4, it does not connect.

I've been through all the instructions and after running all the diagnostics through telnet it seems PHP is installed correctly as well as APACHE.When I edit the httpd.conf file however and add:
LoadModule php4_module "C:/PHP/php4apache.dll"
Apache fails to start once the httpd.conf is saved with that LoadModule request.It is in the specified directory.It is PHP4 on Apache 2.2. on Win XP.

I posted this on the Apache board, but after 4 days with no reply am still needing an answer so I thought I'd try here.
Needing a testing server I installed Apache 2.2 and PHP onto my Windows XP Laptop. That went great. However I can't run flash modules, like, for example, a video player streaming an FLV.
I was only able to install Apache and PHP by following directions, but don't really know much about such installs.
What do I need to do to make Apache run (display) flash?

Has anybody experience to install FMS 3.+ Apache on the same machine with IIS7. Our business department decided to save some money on hardware and we have to install FMS on production, where we have already hostted ASP.NET WebSite. We have to do steaming video on our ASP.NET pages. I think to configure FMS on ports 1925,6000 instead of 1925,80. Will it be ok for Apache? Actually, I tested the installation with this configuration on our testing enviroment and it works, but the funny thing is that I can put rtmp://111.111.111.111/vod/sample.flv works (without port 6000). Is it correct behavior?

I recently purchased a flash template and after a lot of configuration and tailoring to my own requirements, I have the website look and feel exactly how I want it. I then proceeded to upload the site into cPanel and more specifically Apache, and unfortunately the display within the flash has now gone completely wrong. There are extra spaces in sentences where there were previously none and numerous images and text titles do not display any longer.his occurs in all browsers when viewed live but when viewed from my local computer via my hard drive all browsers display the content as normal??I am more of a Cisco/Network consultant therefore my knowledge in this area stretches a very small amount. I have added the Apache Handlers for .swf, .xml and the image formats but that's about as much as I know
