I have to set up an list of events in sort of a calendar format. I'm trying to figure out how I should bring in the data. The data will be stored in a mySQL database. Should I just bring it straight into flash with PHP, or should I use PHP to convert it to XML and then bring it to flash?

It is a countdown calendar that I would like to know options for how to make it automatically change the start number and second number by - 1 every day at midnight until it reaches zero.

The AS2 DateChooser has just the functionality I need to build the events calendar that I have to build .. however .. while I know what to do in theory, I'm stumbling on (a) whether it will work and (b) syntax.
I want to display an instance of the DateChooser (myDate) and access the selectedDate property when the user selects a date. Then I need to pass it to the main events page preferably on the same page with something like this:
SELECT EventTitle. EventDescription, EventLink FROM Events
WHERE EventDate = MMColParam
MMColParam 1 myDate.selectedDate
The page itself is ASP. I am thinking I would probably define a variable and perhaps use LoadVars to load the selected date from Flash .. not something I have done before.
Perhsps something like
dim eventDate
eventDate = myDate.selectedDate
I'm sure that's not the syntax .. but I think that is the theory. I should be able to access the selectedDate property of the Date Chooser instance and feed the date into the query to select the events on that date and list them.
I created a Custom Day Render and I would like to access some custom data that I am providing with in the Flextras Calendar dataProvider. here is the code that I have

View 3 RepliesI'm a designer who knows basic flash, but I got a freelancer to help me out with my website. She added an event calendar, which works great, but the designer in me wants to tweak the way it looks, which affects the way it's coded. Working in AS2.
As it is, the Month and Year act as a single entity. I'm wanting to separate these independent parts. I've tried messing around with the code, but unfortunately, my flash skills are limited. If there's anyone who could give the included .fla file a look over and maybe give me some tips on what to do. I'm also including an image of what I'm hoping the calendar to look like (ignore the "date unavailable on the bottom." If you open the flash file, you'll see what I mean about the month and year acting as a single entity.

I have a class called socket.as and is responsible for socket connection etc. It has an event listener onSocketData, which is called whenever data is received. In my main class, Main.as, i have instantiated an object of socket class.
How can I get data from socket class? Do i have to create a custom event in Main.as that should be triggered by socket class?

I have bought Learning AS 3.0 (O'Reilly) but I have been having difficulty getting one of the tutorials to run. The tutorial shows how to record data from a microphone to a byte array, playback the saved data and save as a WAV file. For some reason, I can't get this working. When the swf runs, the Flash Settings screen doesn't pop up to request permission to access the microphone but I can still trace properties such as gain.
I've uploaded a zip containing all the classes and an FLA - just use RecordMicrophone_Example.as file as the document class. Here is the problematic area of the code:

The event fires OK, and I can trace the string in the Event, but it returns "undefined" in the event handler. I'm hoping it's just a typo or something, but it's got me stumped. View 3 RepliesI am confused on this. Has to be some small error somewhere in code but cant seem to find. This is a flash calendar i found on the web, only thing I changed was added the ability to change the header color, days name color, etc. Works fine when check in flash itself (Adobe Flash Pro CS5), but when preview in html browser it doesnt work right. Shows undefined everywhere but when you click the arrow to go to next month everything is correct, header color, month name etc.

I know a little about all of them, but I don't really understand how to use them all together. I have searched around the forums, and kirupa, and the web in general and I am having trouble with a few things. First of all let's say I have 3 different fields in my table. Date, Event, and Description. How can I pull each record with PHP? Do I have to pull them one field at a time, or can I just pull the whole record, and send it straight to flash via PHP?
