I have a file (view the calendar in the upper right of [URL]... that I don't want to have to manually update every day for the next 170 days.
It is a countdown calendar that I would like to know options for how to make it automatically change the start number and second number by - 1 every day at midnight until it reaches zero.
I would like to know about my options for achieving this.
The AS2 DateChooser has just the functionality I need to build the events calendar that I have to build .. however .. while I know what to do in theory, I'm stumbling on (a) whether it will work and (b) syntax.
I want to display an instance of the DateChooser (myDate) and access the selectedDate property when the user selects a date. Then I need to pass it to the main events page preferably on the same page with something like this:
SELECT EventTitle. EventDescription, EventLink FROM Events
WHERE EventDate = MMColParam
MMColParam 1 myDate.selectedDate
The page itself is ASP. I am thinking I would probably define a variable and perhaps use LoadVars to load the selected date from Flash .. not something I have done before.
Perhsps something like
dim eventDate
eventDate = myDate.selectedDate
I'm sure that's not the syntax .. but I think that is the theory. I should be able to access the selectedDate property of the Date Chooser instance and feed the date into the query to select the events on that date and list them.
I would like my flash to act differently depending on what html page it is on. Can I send information from html code to action script?

Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.

View 1 RepliesI have a scrolling navigation bar and two buttons on either side to move it left and right. I created functions to handle moving the navigation MC left and right, and they work just fine.
My problem is, I'm trying to set my buttons up using onPress, like this:

The problem is, when I create the .swf, the functions placed in the onPress events automatically run. And neither button triggers the "onPress" events. I have removed the last two lines with the onPress events and the functions do not run, so the way I've set them up is obviously wrong.
The problem is obviously the onPress lines because the functions do not run without those lines, and if I simply put the full function within the onPress event rather than separate, they both run correctly. I want to call these functions elsewhere, so I don't want to simply include them solely within the onPress event.
My action panel windows has resized itself taller than my screen, there is no scrollbar so I cant see what I typed and I cant move the window up to be able to drag the size. Basically its unusable, restarting CS3 is no luck and I cant find any setting preferences for it.

View 3 RepliesI'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.
Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.
We want to be able to upload over 100+ files (if needed) to a server along with desc + keywords. I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.

There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

I don't understand why the Data Management system that sets up CRUD won't allow this extra parameter. It says it can only have one input: item. I can get all records, but when I try to create, update, or delete I get an error.
Or is there another way I can pass the tablename variable to the php file before I call any functions?
Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between
<noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.

I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. I'm creating a small app to run from CD-Rom/local installation that will use multiple shared objects for data storage. To ensure proper saving without surprising the user with a permissions dialog unexpectedly, I'd like to request unlimited data storage on first time app launch - Joey Lott shows how to do this in the Actionscript Cookbook... request=mySO.flush(1024 * 500);
My question is,Can I perform this permissions request with the user a single time with a generic app SO in global fashion, so that the permissions would be set for any SOs created during the use of the product (all written to same SO directory),or do I have to request
permissions for each and every SO created? Since the latter would be unacceptable from a UE standpoint, that means stuffing all app data into a single SO which doesn't seem so great from a data config perspective...

View 8 RepliesWe have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.
