ActionScript 2.0 :: Fla Not Connecting To Database
Sep 5, 2007
[code]...
I got the script to work perfectly, even got to register a few hundred members to the site. However, my old host had a bandwidth limit of 400gb so I had to move to a new provider. I transferred all the files with no problems, and even setup the database properly. My new problem is registering... I can login just fine using an existing account I had made. But I go to try and make a new account and I get an "undefined" error.[code]...
I am writing a large flex app that has to connect to a database many times. I currently am using asp pages to connect, but I would like to use the most efficient option. What do you think is the best way to connect to a database from a flex app?
I'm developing a desktop application in Flash, but I can't seem to find any tutorials that aren't based on FLEX to connect my application to a database file.
Do I have to write my application in FLEX to use SQLite or can I create an AIR app in Flash and still use it?
I'm still learning AS3 and am trying to set up validating user (text box) input of 2 items (name and password) by checking with an SQL Server Database on my website.I have the ASP page set up using a standard request/response.write script. It works I've tested the ASP, and it works. The ASP receives the 2 variables, hopefully each in a name-value pair, and checks with the DB, then if the name and password received from the Flash SWF match a name and password in the DB, sends back a "YES" and, if not, sends back a "NO".I'm having difficulty getting the AS3 written and working correctly. Here's what I have so far that displays errors, causes a flickering when previewed and doesn't yet work.
I'm working on Flash project for which I have to conenct to Oracle database, retrieve data and display it.Is it possible to connect to Oracle database from Flash?
What I am after is to be able to connect to a SQL database directly or via a ASP Page (whichever is easier) to pull out some variables and display them as text in a text field. Basically we have a news section on our intranet (stored in an sql) and I want to be able to pull these out and put them into flash. I have looked on the internet for examples, but everything that I do don't seem to work.
This is what we have... a new Actionscript developer (Me) and a seasoned Visual Basic/ASP developer. We've also got some SQL Servers... We need to write a web application (Flash) that checks user authentication (User Name and Password) against a SQL Server database before allowing the user to continue through the program. After the user completes various components of the eLearning program, a brief quiz will follow. At the end of the whole eLearning program, a lengthy quiz will be given and those results will be scored and stored in a database.
I need to know what is required to do this... this being the database connectivity? I've been seeing PHP/MySQL tutorials but is there some way to hook up into ASP/SQL Server? Furthermore, how exactly does this work? I've read that with PHP, flash will write and store variables in PHP which is then used to get results from the database. I'm not exactly sure tho. If any one can point me to a great tutorial that explains everything about ASP/SQL Server..
I am trying to connect to a MySQL database using PHP in Flash CS3 using Actionscript 3.I have written the PHP file and some AS3 code and it displays the information but for some reason it also displays the tags.[code]The picture below shows what happens when I test the movie.I also need to add buttons to move to the next and previous record and to add or edit the database via the Flash interface?
I have a website in which the content on the index page is controlled by a PHPMyAdmin database. I want a a flash "movie" at the top, that can take the data from the site, and slide-show it until a user clicks on a specific link, in which the movie will direct itself to the clicked event.
The page is for a booking/promotion concert company. They want a "Featured Shows", "Calendar", and flash file that all are interconnected. One page. Does anyone know how to do this, where to find tutorials, or so on? Note, i'm not wanting to WRITE data to the database, I just want to GET data to post on the flash file.
I have a task to make simple game that deployed as a facebook app using Adobe Flex. Like most facebook game, I need to show high score, compare score with friends and some other similar functionalities, which I think need some sort of database thing.
The problem is a had only little experience about database, only have tried simple things with MySQL and I don't know where to start.
i want to intertwine php, MySql and flash. so i can make a flash movie display text that is in the sql database and a php script to change the database, php > sql = i can do but sql > flash = i can't do..i want it so the sql data show's in a text box in the flash movie...
I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website. Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this?
Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.
I have researched this issue all over and most people say use the .refresh() method to update a datagrid after updating or adding a new record. This does not do anything. So, my issue is this. I have a mySQL database hosted I am connecting via PHP, I have 1 mxml file and 2 php files (I know I can use just 1 but I am learning and this was easier for me to use for troubleshooting). The issue is no matter what I change on the datagrid the update does not show on the datagrid unless I close out of IE and reopen it. I can refresh or open the page in another window and the update does not show. I have to exit entirely and restart in order for any updates or additions to show. Here is my licenseTracker.mxml
I am working on a function to generate a form at runtime in Flex based on a call to the DB. The call to the DB returns the field types, id, tooltips etc as an arraycollection, the arraycollection is then parsed in order to ascertain what control to display based on the type field in the array - this bit works fine. However, i am stuck on trying to save the form fields back to the database using a CFC.my form rendering code is as follows but how do i save values entered back to the database? rendering code..
[Bindable] public var getglobalprofileb:ArrayCollection; public function init(event:ResultEvent):void {[code].......
I have updated the mxml code to only show the needed code for the program to run the update.
I am new to Flex and have an issue I hope you all can help me out with.
I have researched this issue all over and most people say use the .refresh() method to update a datagrid after updating or adding a new record. This does not do anything.
So, my issue is this. I have a mySQL database hosted on 000webhost.com, I am connecting via PHP, I have 1 mxml file and 2 php files (I know I can use just 1 but I am learning and this was easier for me to use for troubleshooting). The issue is no matter what I change on the datagrid the update does not show on the datagrid unless I close out of IE and reopen it. I can refresh or open the page in another window and the update does not show. I have to exit entirely and restart in order for any updates or additions to show.
I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data.I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time. It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety, but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. Moreover, some type of encryption would definitely be welcome, and speed is a large concern
Synchronization: Primarily updates/additions/deletions will be done on the offline database, but ideally I want to have a web interface that will allow the same updates/additions/deletions and will be synced (beyond that I'm not sure exactly how to do it as I can model that based on what is most achievable).I'm wondering if there's any prebuilt engine that could handle the synchronization of 2 databases. I may end up having the web interface only be for additions, which would be significantly easier to sync.. and I may start that way, but i want to build with technologies that will best allow me to implement full online crud at some point.
Here is the issue: a client wants his entire equipment inventory accessible by persons navigating to his jquery mobile site. The inventory that exists on the desktop site was, as I understood, built with Flex. Is it possible to access this database for the jquery mobile site? I believe it is. I was then given this information from someone in the know:
Is it possible to create a database driven website using these alone? Or do i need to learn any other technology? If i do then what should i learn? I know j2se for the desktop and oracle SQL/MySQL i finally got the feeling that i need to learn PHP anyway along with css and javascript. So it is fine. Also another query. Which CMS should i consider? Wordpress or Joomla?
I am planning to develop a standalone application, which infact will be used for personal purposes. So only single user access may be there. I want to develop it in Flex. Just want some opinions from the gurus over here : Whether i should use Flex or AIR (I know only Flex, AIR i need to start learning)Which database i should use? SQLLite or HSQLDB or some other.
I have a database on a server and I transfer the data from it to a web site. So I need to build a flash grid on this site and to load the data on it. But the problem is that I do not know how to do it. So my question is how to build a dynamic flash grid wich is fill with data from a database? Is there a way to do it with action script only or I must do it another way?
I am an actionscript newbie but have been given the task of designing a navigation menu in flash that has to connect to a database - the menu items have to be marked - unread, mandatory etc. and have to pull back database information to display then be marked as read.
I am curious to know if there is a way of connecting a flash front-end to a C++ driven backend? I'm not currently working on a project that involves this, but I found out about an application used in the gaming industry, called Scaleform, that requires knowledge on doing such things in order to create menus in games.
When I connect to kongregate locally on debug mode it works fine. but when I upload the game to their servers, I get the following error.
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. at com.objects::Engine/GameMenu() at Function/http://adobe.com/AS3/2006/builtin::apply()
Below is the code I use. and the class properties i set
// Kongregate API reference private var kongregate:*; public function Engine(sr:Stage):void
I wanted to use flex line chart for displaying data stored in mysql table. Can anyone suggest me on how do I do this with flex as UI and mysql as db, I am not sure how to call .php file in flex to query from mysql. I wanted to show some data of time v/s temperature.I wrote a php file to query data from mysql, but my flex program is not able to connect to mysql, is there any configuration I need to update. I am using XAMPP
[Bindable] private var model:AlgorithmModel = new AlgorithmModel(); private var serviceProxy:Algorithm = new Algorithm( model );
[Code]....
And when i call serviceProxy.Solve_Send(request); with request is array and i want use model.Solve_SendResult in my code flex to draw many cubes use papervison3d but in the first time i received model.Solve_SendResult = null . But when I click again then everything OK.
