Since Flashbuilder does not support WCF over https, I am considering to use weborb remoting as alternative, but not really sure how flash is going to know weborb location, if they are sitting on different servers. Looked at destination, source fields, but not really find a field called url in remoteObject in Flex.

I'd just like to know whether I'm wasting my time bothering to contact some annoying sales people, if it is out of our price range. This is most likely for deployment of a Flex/Java app in a clustered environment. Community edition is not going to work here.

I'm looking for feedbacks regarding performances using WCF with amf. Here's an old benchmark which doesn't use WCF :[URL].. I'm aiming to few hundred/thousand concurrent connections at the same time. I think there's an overhead using WCF, but I would like to know to what extent if anyone has already test WCF through WebOrb using AMF behavior ?

I'm trying to connect to an FMS server with a Flex application. I can throw the rtmp URL straight in as the source for a VideoPlayer and it will work, but can't figure out how to get it to work with a NetStream. The pure Flash Video element works as in the FMS Flash demos, but is extremely laggy and lacks all the nice functionality of the built VideoPlayer. Is there any documentation on working with FMS with Flex? We're at a point where we need to decide quickly if FMS will do what we need to do or if we should purse other technologies.

The ActionScript 3.0 Reference says the following about flash.net.NetConnection:
The NetConnection class creates a two-way connection between a client and a server. The client can be a Flash Player or AIR application. The server can be a web server, Flash Media Server, an application server running Flash Remoting, or the Adobe Stratus service. Call NetConnection.connect() to establish the connection.
Does this mean I make a regular HTTP connection to any web server using an NetConnection object? I am a little confused about this as further down the section on the connect() method says connect(): Creates a two-way connection to an application on Flash Media Server or to Flash Remoting, or creates a two-way network endpoint for RTMFP peer-to-peer group communication....Pass an "http" URL to connect to an application server running Flash Remoting.. So, the application server has to have Flash Remoting?

I have a simple Flex RTMFP P2P video app in the same mold as the Adobe Cirrus VideoPhone Sample application. A problem I've been encountering in developing this app (the same problem occurs in the sample) is when you try to connect to a ghost Stratus instance i.e you try to call someone whose Stratus id is in the database but who is no longer on the page. So here's an example of what I mean:Let's say you go to the Adobe Stratus sample and connect as Dan. Then open up a new tab, go to the sample again and connect as Fred. If from this point, you (as Fred) call Dan everything will work fine. But, if you close the tab in which you connected as Dan, and then from the Fred tab try to connect to Dan the program will just hang.
I would have thought there would be a NetStream event that would be triggered if you tried to connect to a Stratus instance that is not longer online but I can't seem to find anything besides NetStream.Connect.Rejected which doesn't seem to be called.

I have a flex application that communicates via BlazeDS with two webapps running inside a single instance of Tomcat.The flex client is loaded by the browser from the first webapp and all is well. However on the initial call to the second webapp the client receives the following error: Detected duplicate HTTP-based FlexSessions, generally due to the remote host disabling session cookies. Session cookies must be enabled to manage the client connection correctly.Subsequent calls to the same service method succeed.

Context : I'm working on a Flash application developed with FDT and compiled with Flash CS4 (I need a huge library). It should connect to various Weborb services.Weborb is properly configured. My services are properly executed, and values returned, via the management console. Weborb examples as well as various tests compiled with Flex are fully functionnal.
Problem : when I try to adapt the code to compile with Flash, and setup the remote object like this :
var remoteObject = new RemoteObject();
remoteObject.destination = "GenericDestination";
remoteObject.source = "MyServices.MyService";[code]....
Question: how to properly setup a RemoteObject to connect to a Weborb remoting service from a Flash application compiled with Flash ?

I am using a Socket (not xmlSocket) connection between flex applications and the server pushing messages.Now, when I connect from the local machine to the server everything is working file and running, connection is succesful and I get data back and forth.When I upload the application (flex) to the server and run it from there, I get a security sandBox violation message.Note:1. I do have a crossdomain file with * wildcard both on port and on domain.2. I created a Securiy.allowDomain("*") as well.Another thing.I also created another listener on that same server, listening to connections for port 843 (default) and this service just waited for a connection send policy file to the client and that's it.

I created a Java REST service using Jersey. I use three of the HTTP "verbs" GET, POST and DELETE. I want to create several prototype front ends for the service. After much research, a lot dating to 2008 and 2009, I have been unable to find anything remotely simple.My three options are:
1) resthttpservice. This project hasn't been updated in a year. The only activity are one off suggestions that individual users have implemented.URL...
2) Create an AIR application. This isn't unfeasible.
3) Writing my own socket level code but there is a security restriction with flash players and I need to implement a policy server.
I have already read the question posted about asking whether using Flex for REST services were worth it. That information is old as well. I want to introduce REST services to my company but Flex's limited support for HTTP PUT and DELETE are discouraging. My service also uses the Accept header to determine if JSON or XML will be returned to the client. I can't seem to change HTTP headers without doing socket programming.Is there an easy way to use Flex 4 with RESTful services that uses PUT/DELETE and the Accept HTTP header?

I have Flex/AIR app that connects to a tomcat server via BlazeDS. I'm not finding that I have to integrate an old webapp (struts/jsp) and I'd like to keep that webapp untouched except for login, authentication and session handling. Also a 3rd java app that uses httpclient.
Currently I have some blazeDS remote objects to handle login/logout with a few RPC calls. In turn, FlexSession objects are created and handled. Is there a way to use httpclient and javascript to call those blazeds RPCs so I dont have to recode and have 3 different means to handle logins and sessions?

I am working on an Adobe Flex front-end with a Java back-end using JPA for persistence. he protocol I am using is remote objects (AMF) implemented with BlazeDS.I started out with a service-facade and entity DAOs, but without any specific DTOs. The same POJOs, the domain objects, were passed in the service-facade as those used as DTOs passed to the Hibernate DAOs.However, the latest few days I have been thinking whether this is a good approach or not. The latest article on the subject I read was this one:Interesting JPA Pattern blogThe situation:Say I have POJO Book with a unidirection ManyToOne relation with the POJO Category (i.e. each book may only be associated with one category, but the same category may be associated with many books). I see some alternatives:Alternative 1:I expose a method/operation addUpdateBook(Book book). In the implementation of this operation I add/update both the book and the referenced category.
