Does anyone have any experience using actionscript to tap into a wordpress database (movable-type)? I'm just wondering how difficult this would be or if anyone has been successful with this.

I have a wordpress based site that stores information about an image in a database field called "background" in a table called "wp_postmeta".The 'loader' gets an url such as "/thisImage/background.swf"The "background.swf" should somehow display "background.jpg" instead but since I've changed the field name in the database (from background to temp_background) it doesn't work.I pass variables to the "loader" swf and they are correct based on the new field name but it still isn't working.I need to know if there is anything in the .fla's (and therefore the .swfs) that is pointing to somewhere in the database hard-coded. Basically I need someone to look at them and tell me how they are working.
View 2 Repliesi've designed a strip of thumbnails in flash to go in a Wordpress site i'm working on, which when clicked need to open up images and videos using Lightbox 2. (Lightbox is already setup and working.)The problem is that i'm importing the links for each of the thumbnail buttons from a .txt file which works like this:

This at present just opens the image in a new window, how can i make this work with Lightbox?[URL]
I have encoded the Flash movies with the "ClearOverPlaySeekMute" skin and uploaded the swf to the same directory as the main video swf. The skin does not display. (in any of them)
I thought that the skin had to be in the same directory as the swf, althought I have read that some say it should be where the html file is. Since WP is PHP is is less clear where it should go. I have uploaded the file to the WP folder, to the theme folder, and to the include folder but it still does not display.[code]...

I was wondering whether the idea could be extended even further and make a completely separate Flash/Flex frontend for a website, that uses Wordpress in the back. That would certainly be possible. View 1 RepliesI have a flash website that's been running fine, but since I installed Wordpress on that server, the SWFs won't load from Internet Explorer. It still works fine in Firefox on both the Mac and Windows platforms. The Flash website is not associated with the WP blog at all, but it exists along side. I tried moving the blog folder up a level, farther away from the Flash site, but it didn't help. IE will see the index page, and the html elements, but no longer will load the flash. It's was working fine before. I should mention that there is also a b2 evolution blog installed in another directory on the server, if that makes any difference.

The website theme is space and astronomy, hence my client wanted banners about space shuttles and galaxies etc. I have been able to do this .. but with one small hitch the banners are in the size of 50-70 KB each. 2. Will making the banners in flash reduce the load time?

I was able to use my own video player, but I'm not ready to post videos using my server and I prefer to have users post using a provider like youtube, vimeo, facebook, ect.. Right now my site has those kind of video players. I edit the meta tags several times, this is the one I currently have:

I also tested it using a single youtube video and it worked fine. But since I have other videos beside youtube I can't do it where it just gets a youtube id. Yesterday the posts without videos were showing up, but now when all posts gets share it shows up like if it was a video on my wall, so if clicked it will give an error. I been pulling my hair all week with this and still couldn't get it to work.
when I update my script, it takes so long for facebook to update the change. I have to wait for so long in order to test it again, like if facebook is holding it in cache for too long, is there a way to bypass that?

I have a database on a server and I transfer the data from it to a web site. So I need to build a flash grid on this site and to load the data on it. But the problem is that I do not know how to do it. So my question is how to build a dynamic flash grid wich is fill with data from a database? Is there a way to do it with action script only or I must do it another way?

I've got Wordpress 2.5 installed on my website. It works well, but I can't get the photo uploader to work. When I'm writing a post, I click on the "Add media" button. In the "Choose File" tab, I see the "Choose files to upload" button. When I click on it, nothing happens. I searched the net and found nothing helpful. One page vaguely mentioned having the latest Flash player. I verified and confirmed that I have the latest player.
View 2 RepliesI want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website.Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this?
Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.

I am working on a function to generate a form at runtime in Flex based on a call to the DB. The call to the DB returns the field types, id, tooltips etc as an arraycollection, the arraycollection is then parsed in order to ascertain what control to display based on the type field in the array - this bit works fine.However, i am stuck on trying to save the form fields back to the database using a CFC.my form rendering code is as follows but how do i save values entered back to the database? rendering code..

I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data.I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time.It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety,but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. Moreover, some type of encryption would definitely be welcome, and speed is a large concern
Synchronization: Primarily updates/additions/deletions will be done on the offline database, but ideally I want to have a web interface that will allow the same updates/additions/deletions and will be synced (beyond that I'm not sure exactly how to do it as I can model that based on what is most achievable).I'm wondering if there's any prebuilt engine that could handle the synchronization of 2 databases. I may end up having the web interface only be for additions, which would be significantly easier to sync.. and I may start that way, but i want to build with technologies that will best allow me to implement full online crud at some point.
Here is the issue: a client wants his entire equipment inventory accessible by persons navigating to his jquery mobile site. The inventory that exists on the desktop site was, as I understood, built with Flex. Is it possible to access this database for the jquery mobile site? I believe it is. I'm parsing an RSS feed successfully using the RSS Viewer Example. The output text/links is good, but the images don't seem to get parsed. I've tried several other RSS scrpts with similar results: text/titles/links but but no images, as well as other feeds sites like CNN and Google, and NASA.

Just started using wordpress for my site after years of standard HTML and hit a problemwith an old Flash file I've usedfor 10 years.So I have a flash 6 swf file living in my media directory at URL...and the swf file wants to call a JavaScript function on my HTML page living at URL...Now on my old non-wordpress web site I just put the html and swf file in the same directory and this call always worked javascript:top.fSendForm()But now the swf file is in another location I don't know how to reference my JavaScript function.
