im trying to do is have a button that shows an animation (created by a duplicateMovieClip function) with onRollOver and stops the animation with onRollOut. It works when i roll over and it stops when i roll out, but then it continues in a loop up to the point where i rolled out (instead of cutting off completely as i would like). Id be extremely grateful if you could tell me where im going wrong.

I have these images that will load when I input a certain string of text but I don't know how to combine functions to make a generic one that will work for all of the images. These are just two and they're basically the same thing except I have to make each function (something)1 and then (something)2 for the next image.

I read the article about complex button RollOver/RollOut effects ([URL].. but i found that when i press ctrl+enter to view the button the animation plays to the last frame and doesnt go back to the start until i rollover it, then it resets and works properly. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how i can fix it? Im using flash MX. Also, how can i change the hit area for a button that's been made this way?

how to open a new window when you click on the button, I am looking to jump to a frame label in the same movie, I tried adding the goto function in place of the get url but it wont work. This button is on the main timeline in scene 1 and I need it to go to a frame thats labeled port on its release.

I have an animation I made in After Effects. I exported it from AE as a SWF. I imported it into Flash CS4, brought it to the stage, and then put a button inside of it. The mouseover of the button works. But I can't the button to perform any actions. I get this error:
ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property onRollOver on flash.display.SimpleButton.
at MarineFoodsFlash_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
My .fla file is 74mb but if need be i can strip it down and upload it.

I was following the tutorial for the RollOver/RollOut effects button...and I came into a snag. Everything worked great...with exception for a little bit that I wanted to change.
I wanted the rollover/rollout effect but have multiple buttons with different links. In this tutorial, you can only go to one URL. I was interested in using the rollover/rollout feature as part of a dropdown menu in flash. [URL].Is there any way to take the following line of code and play with the instance names?

*trouble with gotoandplay and roll out functions* basically i have an after effects movieclip (followed the after effects button tutorial on this site) that i have made into a button. it works ok on rollover and rollout i use tweener which works a treat and when i click it goes to another frame and plays a small sequence of smoke exploding.
problem: its a look problem really. when i rollout the smoke click sequence tweens back to frame 0 as per my rollout instructions IS there a way for me to have the click smoke sequence play all the way through before going back to frame 0 on my rollout ? i see tweener has a oncomplete statment is that of anyuse? ive tried a few thigns but it always reverts to the rollout and reverses the footage.

I used a little script from this website to make a button with rollover/roll-out effects (http:url..). In the end of the script, it says:

Now I want the button not to follow an external link, but to go to a specific frame number further in my movie.But I can't get it (not with an extra normal button,not with gotoAndPlay (52) etc.).

The order of events are this. From the main stage I load a movie clip (movie clip 1), within that movie clip I have a button that loads another movie clip (movie clip 2) and also starts a timer that will automatically unload movie clip 2 . Within movie clip 2 I would like to create a button that stops the timer on movie clip 1 and starts it again.
I need to stop a function in movie clip 1 from movie clip 2 and then start that same function on movie clip 1 from movie clip 2.

I really just want to know how to trigger a function when my movie hits a certain frame.
I made a very simple flash show to try to illustrate my problem a little more clearly. I have a green and a gray button. Using the 'switch_buttons' command I turned the gray button invisible at the beginning. What I then want to happen is that on the 10th frame the green button will become invisible and the gray button will appear. But I haven't had any luck. It seems like I need to call a function to switch the buttons somehow.

i have a movieclip on the main timeline, and inside that mc I have 1 button on first frame and 1 button of second frame...From the main timeline i run this script for frame 1 button...
publisering2.avpubliser_btn.onRelease = function(){
publisering2.gotoAndStop(2);
}
And this works fine.. however, i run the exact same script for the button on frame 2, ofcourse changing the path and gotoAndStop(1) instead... And this isnt working.. The button's over frame works so its activated...

Right now, I have a gallery with many different thumbnails each individual movie clip symbols and not button symbols and each movie clip has a rollover and rollout function assigned to them which are all basically the same for each thumbnail.
Following is an example from a small section of the gallery thumbnails.

The above shows two groups of thumbnails grouped into individual movie clips (web01, web02, web03) each movie clip containing 3 thumbnails (btn04, sub04_1, sub04_2). I had done it this way for grouping and ease of animation.
I was wondering if it was possible to create just one function which executes the rollover and rollout functions so the script window would not be filled with so much repeated script.

I have the following code that lists 5 buttons with dynamic texts... when pressing each button a popUp_mc window will appear with some content show in dynamic text. Only one of these 5 buttons have some images that will have symbols_mc appear... in this case I just alpha this symbol to 100 only for this button, but for the rest alpha = 0. The button the I want to show the symbol is the third one. I'm a bit confused on how to show this symbol according to the following code below.

and when I "run" this function in my .fla file, its says "undefined" (for this position) how to "pass" MC informations to a function inside a class (x,y coordinates, rotation..) although when I trace only "_Playah" it shows the correct name of MC i've passed to it.

I have a function ("advance_slideshow()") that ticks a slide show up by one, then it loops back at the end. It works when called from the key listener I set up for debugging. However it does not work when called from setInterval. I added a trace to the function to confirm that it was being called, which it is; it just doesn't work when called via the interval.

I'm developing a card game where I have a button (dealButton) which deals the cards. The action can be triggered by a clicking the button or pressing the spacebar on the keyboard.
Problem is, if I press the spacebar repeatedly the action is triggered multiple times. Is there a way to disable the button when I press the spacebar so that it triggeres the action once only, then gets enabled again later, to deal a new hand?

Using the Radio button component and I have 10 groups of buttons. Each group has a group name of g1, g2, etc for each yes/no button. I want to determine which button was clicked. When I run the code below I only get the first one and then each other button clicked I don't get a trace statement back.

I am writing an application for my students which plays music when buttons are pressed.I made the buttons myself and they have 4 states in 4 colors.The rollover and mousedown states work okay but I would like the button to hold its 'hit' or "mousedown" color while the sound plays, and then return to its normal state. This way, while the sound plays, the student will see its connection to the button label (rather than a screen full of buttons in the same state/color)
