I have 5 TextInput instances and 5 Dynamic Text Fields on the stage  The TextInput values need to be passed to the Dynamic Text Boxes.

ActionScript 3.0 :: TextInput Component Value Passed To Dynamic Text Field - Part 02

Jun 28, 2009

The update to the Dynamic Text Box is always one character behind what is entered into the TextInput component. For instance my name is Shawn, if I enter "Shawn" into the Text Input the Dynamic Text Boxes will display "Shaw". It will only enter the "n" if I type another character then backspace it, deleting the extra character.

Adobe Flex 4 Rendering Issues With Text In Disabled TextInput Component?

Apr 22, 2011

I have an application which displays employee information. If the user opening the detailed employee information page is not authorized to make changes I set the TextInput to disabled. Some users are reporting rendering issues with this. The TextInput's text value does not appear inside the box but is misaligned and is outside of the component. You can see the screenshow below of the disabled ID column where the numbers which are supposed to be in the TextInput box are far off to the right.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Can't Access TextInput's Text From Inside The Parent Class

Sep 10, 2009

When I add a TextInput to the stage I can access it with instanceName.text. this works. Now I have one Movieclip with one TextInput inside (the textinput's instance name is testetxt). This MovieClip has a corresponding class and its code is the following:

class com.sck.testeT extends MovieClip
{
public var testetxt:MovieClip;

[Code]....

The textinput gets transparent but the text isn't changed... I realized it was because the textinput wasn't initialized yet. so I have to wait a while, but how can I know that it was initialized and I can set the initial text by code?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Highlight Color For Flvplayback Component?

May 14, 2009

I did a search, but couldn't find my issue, which was rather surprising. I have an actionscript 3.0 component (flvplayback) and I want to simply change the highlight color from the default green color. You used to be able to do this by a style manger "halo" color or something I don't remember exactly (AS 2.0), but this doesn't work w/ 3.0 components. I thought I could double click on the component in the library, but I can't seem to change the style that way either. I have also tried to place individual items on the stage, like the play button and change the styles there, but it doesn't inherit the changes to the flvplayback component.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Text Inside Component Not Working

Feb 9, 2010

I'm trying to make a UI editor and I'm using a color picker component I found online. I've tried a couple different color picker components but they all seem to have the same issue. If I put an instance of the component on the stage and run the movie, it works fine. The text showing the current color (in hex) as well as any button labels show up and all is well. If I take that same component and put it in another movie clip and put THAT mc on the stage, all is still right with the world. However, if I give that mc a linkage ID and load it using an attachMovie call, all text is blank. I thought it may have to do with embedding, but the button labels are static text, so that shouldn't be an issue.

IDE :: Text Panel Properties Doesn't Allow To Underline Text Or To Highlight And Edit A Single Word In A Whole Text Box - Missing?

Oct 1, 2009

I used to have a little text panel (that sat with the color, swatches, and align panels) that I was able to open up and edit text size, color, underline, etc with. It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. Now I don't have it, I can't find the damn thing anywhere, and I want it back. How can I get it?

How can I create a truly transparent background for these components?

Flash :: TextInput Component Not Giving Up Focus?

Jan 31, 2010

I have a project where a big part of the UI a notebook, where the user enters text in a number of fields, for which it uses a series of TextInput components.Once the notebook is filled in the user switches to a screen where the inputs are disabled and they compare what they wrote to a 'model answer'.The problem is that the last TextInput to have focus at the time of disabling retains it - it appears disabled (greyed out etc) but if you type the letters appear in the field.I have tried variations on Selection.setFocus(null), and it seems that Selection.getFocus() returns null/undefined, but can still type into it. I can't select any of the other textfields, and clicking on other interactive elements - bottons etc doesn't seem to want to remove focus either.

UPDATE - Just to make sure there wasn't something crazy happening particular to this project, if I make a nude flash movie with a textInput and a button, then make the button set theTextInput.enabled = false, I can still type into the field. I can't see any way that's a feature.

Flex :: Custom TextInput Component Loses Focus But Still Contains Cursor?

Oct 29, 2011

I have a custom TextInput that listens for the FocusEvent.FOCUS_IN and FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT events:

textDisplay.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_IN, onFocusInHandler);
textDisplay.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT, onFocusOutHandler);

My onFocusInHandler function basically removes a "promptview" that tells the user to type in a value, with the onFocusOutHandler doing the opposite.

For example, if the TextInput text was backspaced to a blank value and the user clicks out of the TextInput box, it would show a "Please enter a value" light-gray prompt in the TextInput.

This works fine until the user clicks our custom "Clear" button. The clear button sets the text to "", and I can tell the FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT is received because the prompt text is set to visible (its not being set anywhere else). The problem is, the cursor remains in the box as if it still has focus, so if the user immediately starts typing, both the prompt text "Please enter a value" and the user-entered text appears over the gray text, which looks pretty ugly and unreadable.

Why does the TextInput receive the FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT event if it's not actually losing focus?
