ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Make News Array To Work In GetURL Action

I'm trying to get the code below to work, but no such luck:

I'm trying to get the 'newsAry' Array to work in the javascript getURL action. When I use a regular html page in there the page works just fine.

I have been searching Google trying to find a solution to my problem with no joy, so I thought I would post in here to try my luck.I have created a small movie which can be found here, [URL], the problem I have lays with the button at the top of the movie titled "Click Here to Create Your Canvas". I have 'Publish Previewed' in Flash and the button works fine - changing on mouseover and opening link, however when viewed in HTML the button changes as intended but the link does not open on release.

I have a series of as2 button instances which are intended to navigate an HTML site with simple getURL commands, but no matter what I do they only load the index.php file and I can't get them to open the page in the _self window. Here's the code:

They have been made following a tut from Flash_db.I have not been able to test the PHP script yet so no probs with that , but the problem lies in my Flash movie.
The submit button uses a getURL action, but Flash cannot seem to find the PHP file, even though they are in the same folder.

I would like to open a separate swf file from with in flash, but by default, it opens the swf in a browser. I would like this file to open in a stand alone player not in the browser.How can I achive this? Right now I'm using the getURL() action. Is there a separate function for opening a file at a specified filepath?

I am creating a movie, and need to create alink to open a web page. My movie exists in a folder ("Flash") and I need to move up a level(out of that folder), and into another folder, (HTML) where the page I need to open resides. What would the path name need to be ie: ..HTML/default.html?

I'm attempting to allow only the buttons that are in my array work during MOUSE_OVER.
The tricky thing for me is identifieing more than one button in the same if statement. Does the onButtonOver function need to be in a for loop?

Making an XML news reader based off of senocular Squirrel XML news.
I'm using Fuse and wanted to target the dynamic text and or background portions of the headline section.
However, this movie clip is attached to the menu_mc so I'm stumped as to what I should exactly target for the fuse sequence (or any mx.transition/zigo engine based code-tweening process for that matter).
I've attached the files in a .zip for people to look at (and possibly conquer my problem!

Ok so my swf on my homepage is calling in the main.swf which then has movieclips and coded like this on the Actions layer which I made
button1.onRelease = function (){
_root.button1.getURL("http://scholarscanada.com/wordpress/education/programs/reading-readiness/" "_parent");

Here is the site so you guys can see, I believe it has to be something with calling the main.swf into the movieclip because I've never encountered this issue before...If you click on the LEARN MORE for the first image it doesnt go to the page which I ask it for

I wanted to add a second news box under the first one and have it pull the first two news items in the xml file and have it displayed on the movie. Currently it is putting the first news item in both news boxes.ction script so that the second box is actually the second "<news> tag". From the tutorial I removed the <info> <author> and <comment> tags.

I am in the process of building a web site and am running into an issue with dynamic loading text.I am trying to make a scrolling news section with a stage of 200 W x 250 LCreated a movie clip with the following coding:

Then set the clip (which is 250 W x 600 L) on the main stage, moving upwards, creating the auto scroll effect.The problem I am running into is that I can't figure out how to make the text use the whole width of the text box I created. It only uses half of the width, creating columbs like this:

I'm having a strange problem with getURL. in my flash file, i have two buttons one for an email link and another one for a site link here is the code

when i test it in flash (Ctr+enter) only the button linking to the site works, but the email button doesn't work. And when i preview it in html, only the the email button works, but the site button doesn't work.

Still creating the menu I ran into this problem with getURL. I've tried a lot of things, but it still won't go to the URL. Here's my AS code. I marked out where the getURL is.

I wanted to achieve some basic functionality
loadVariablesNum("http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/myscript.pl?act=NewArticle","0",'POST")
My script myscript.pl is designed to return an appropriate varibale value to load into this flash movie so te remaining logic will work.
Now my problem is this WORKS in standalone flash movie but when I upload the movie to [URL] for example this does not work. I tried to put a relative path to my script, even that does not work. I want to make the movie Flash 5 compatible.

It works fine on a testing domain where the flash and the html file are located in the same folder, however, this flash banner is going to be stores on a subdomain callAs soon as it's put on the live site with the flash located in the images subdomain the link stops working. I don't even get an error message; it just doesn't do anything.We tried changing the code to:
