I use getURL to trigger new page, it works in flash player 7 (publish setting -> flash player version 7) but not works in flash player 8 (publish setting -> flash player version 8). Here is the code :

I'm making a sort of portfolio movie using flash which I intended to use for directing to different locations in the Web concerning me; my already uploaded flash movies, sites, creations, projects, etc.
It quickly seems all my work till now might have been for nought: when I click on a link in my published flash so far, it displays this message:
"Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.

As you can probably understand, I cannot expect visitors to my site to manually configure their player for every single of the tens of links I have in my movie. Is there any way I can convince Flash Player that my links are not potentially unsafe?? I am using Flash CS3 and AS2.
I want to use getUrl to display a javascript alert. I've found an example that works perfectly, by using getUrl("javascript:alert('hello world')"); But that example is published for Flash Player 6, and the rest of my movie requires FP8. And if I go to publish settings, and select Flash Player 8 as target, the javascript is no longer executed.
It's not about the getUrl changes in Flash Player 9, I've also tested with Flash Player 8. If you want to try for yourself, the example I'm talking about is from [URL]..
I would like to open a separate swf file from with in flash, but by default, it opens the swf in a browser. I would like this file to open in a stand alone player not in the browser.How can I achive this? Right now I'm using the getURL() action. Is there a separate function for opening a file at a specified filepath?

I'm having a strange problem with getURL. in my flash file, i have two buttons one for an email link and another one for a site link here is the code

when i test it in flash (Ctr+enter) only the button linking to the site works, but the email button doesn't work. And when i preview it in html, only the the email button works, but the site button doesn't work.
Still creating the menu I ran into this problem with getURL. I've tried a lot of things, but it still won't go to the URL. Here's my AS code. I marked out where the getURL is.

My script myscript.pl is designed to return an appropriate varibale value to load into this flash movie so te remaining logic will work.
Now my problem is this WORKS in standalone flash movie but when I upload the movie to [URL] for example this does not work. I tried to put a relative path to my script, even that does not work. I want to make the movie Flash 5 compatible.
It works fine on a testing domain where the flash and the html file are located in the same folder, however, this flash banner is going to be stores on a subdomain callAs soon as it's put on the live site with the flash located in the images subdomain the link stops working. I have been searching Google trying to find a solution to my problem with no joy, so I thought I would post in here to try my luck.I have created a small movie which can be found here, [URL], the problem I have lays with the button at the top of the movie titled "Click Here to Create Your Canvas". I have 'Publish Previewed' in Flash and the button works fine - changing on mouseover and opening link, however when viewed in HTML the button changes as intended but the link does not open on release.

I'm trying to get the 'newsAry' Array to work in the javascript getURL action. When I use a regular html page in there the page works just fine.
I'm on a laptop and for the past day or so I downloaded adobe flash about 10 times and it doesnt seem to work. whenever I try to watch something or have a flash ad on a website, I get a message that says "install missing plugins". I click on it, and it takes me to the flash download page but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this, but it says by the installation instructions that I would need to press "run", I only have an option to save the file.

View 10 RepliesFrom time to time the letter keys in my flash player stop working. They work ONLY if I hold down CTRL at the same time. It's really annoying, because some flash content I like to use requires typing, and this weirdness doesn't change if I restart the browser or the computer altogether. It is some general setting too, because when this happens NONE of the flash windows will take any letters.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to put a mp3 player on my web page and it should work on iPad. So, I learned iPad doesn't support Flash. However, apparently partly it does. I couldn't find the information on this. How is it possible: [URL]. That is a mp3 player working on iPad (when browsing on Safari). However, it uses audiojs.swf (1644 bytes) and without that it doesn't work at all. How can iPad use the swf if Flash is not supported? What is another good free mp3 audio player that works on iPad.

I am having the same problem as a lot of other folks. I have searched through this and other forums and nobody seems to have an answer - at least I can't find one. The set up is this: I tried to view a video - received a message that I need to download the latest version of Flash Player - did so and everything seemed normal - tried the video again and got the same message. I have tried everything suggested on the official Flash Support page as well as this and several other forums and nothing changes.
I haven't seed this tidbit in other threads and it is probably worth noting that when I go to the page on the Adobe site where you can check which version is installed - it says no version is installed even though it apears normally in the Programs and Features window and can be removed from there. Off-the-shelf version of Windows 7 Home Premium , 32 bit running on an HP Pavillion Notebook. No problems with Flash Player unitl 3 days ago.
I have Windows 7 64-bit running on a Dell Studio 1558 with Internet Explorer 9 32-bit. Adobe FlashPlayer 10.3.181.14 is installed. All was fine (i.e., videos played well; e-cards displayed well) up until a few days ago. Now, videos won't play (the screen remains black) and e-greeting cards won't open. I have re-installed FlashPlayer several times. Shockwave Flash Object is enabled.

If you only get the audio/pauze/getflashplayer10 buttons, but the movie itself is just white space (just like my preview image), could you write down you mac's specs?

I was given this piece of script by a friend. It's placed on a movie clip instance and makes it bounce away from the mouse pointer in random directions and distances. It's a great piece and works fine when you publish your flash movie as v6. But I'm wanting to use it in a movie that I have to publish as v7 with as2, and it doesn't work at all when you do that.[code]

But in Flash 5...no sound. Is there a specific way an mp3 needs to be encoded for Flash 5 or does it not even accept mp3s?

I have a problem with Flash Player 9. I have developed a flash application (projector) in Flash CS3 using AS2 . I can compile it into Flash 9 projector, but when I do that, it will not run FSCOMMAND("FULLSCREEN", true); anymore. I wonder why this is as such.
When I read through some help resources, somewhere it says that FSCOMMAND is not supported in FP9 because of some security reasons and it says that I should use External Interface API instead.
If I have to use External Interface whatever remember that I am working with flash projector (exe), not in a browser. I use "trapallkeys" to stop people from pressing ESC and CTRL-F to quit fullscreen mode. However, ESC and CTRL-F still work if I put "trapallkeys" above "fullscreen".
So the problem is, I only able to use either one, not both. This is really strange.
I could not make "showmenu", "false" to work either.
Is there a change in the policy file required for Flash Player 10 ? I have it setup so that when my (home-brewed) server receives "<policy-file-request/>" I send back the xml data, which worked perfectly with Flash Player 9, but does not work with 10.Does the policy file itself need to be changed or can I no longer send it the way I am (and instead use that port 843 method) ?
