I have text field on the stage. How will I take it to the center of the stage? It's registration point is at the center that is why its going little away from the center.

when I create a textfield and use the centering property in the following way, I position it at x=0... but the middle of the text isn't at zero; seemingly the left border of a large... area of some sort is at x=0.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to have flash draw a line from the center of the stage out and increment around the stage. Not sure what math I would use to do this though. So far I have the line going out to a certain point but not sure how to change that point so that it circles around whatever the dimensions of my stage would be.
So far I have this:

which obviously moves the destination ending of the line lower and lower, just trying to get it to draw around the screen (like a clock)

View 1 RepliesI am using Action Script 3.0 to animate an instance (MovieClip class) to follow the mouse positron the thing is, the left corner of the instance follows the mouse courser. Now there is a cross on the to left corner and my guess would be that the mouse follows that cross, but i can not change the position of the cross within the instance/ original object. Does anyone know how to make the center of that instance follow the mouse cursor?

If the movie clips needs to expand +10 then it would be +5 on the left and +5 on the right.So, in order to simulate the movie clip going forward the position on the left would offset -5 then scale.
View 2 RepliesI am editing an XML gallery and I have some questions..I wonder how I can position my images in the center of the screen. The images are all the same size (800x600) and I need them to display in the center of the screen.I played around with the code and I found out that when I change the Width and Height, the images starts to move (finally)... But it's very hard to find the correct position, so how can I just get it to the horizontal en vertical center of the screen/file?

I'm developing a flash product designer... one of it's features is that customers can add their own text to product and they can move it, resize it, rotate it... but I have one problem - text is stored in dynamic TextField with embed fonts, it's created dynamically from Actionscript, but it's registration point is set to upper left corner, is there any way to transform it around center? I mean resizing and rotating around center.

View 1 RepliesI've recently taken Krilnon's tutorial on interactive image panning, and have a need for more complexity. My image to be panned (relative to user's mouse movement) has several 'hot spot' buttons placed within. Each hot spot, when clicked, is to smoothly zoom and shift within the mask, with pertinent info displayed next to each, once zoom and shift is complete. almost like I'm making a motion tween, where the final position is known, but the start position is wherever the BG image is when the user clicks the nested button. View 5 RepliesI have a sprite that I zoom out using the sprite.z property. Once the z property has been modified the sprite x and Y values do not match the stage x and y real value. So far so good and what I was expecting!
What I want to accomplish is that when the user clicks the stage the sprite tweens to where the mouse was clicked but I don't know what x and y position to send to the sprite. ( since stage 200,200 is something like 400,400 for the sprite depending on z value)
I tried Utils3D.projectVector using Matrix3D of the perspectiveProjection of the stage without success. (i.e. I get Vector3D(Infinity, Infinity, NaN))
I could fallback to scalex/scaley but sprites.z gives me the correct scale, perspective projection, paralax scrolling since I have sprites on different z level all for free. I would have to recode all that.
lets say i have a sprite on the stage and one movieclip inside it. now i want to tween or just set that movieclip x and/or y position according to stage position. so for example i want to set mc.y = - 100; (by which i mean -100 to stage, not sprite which mc is in.)

I'm using the scaleX and scaleY properties of my dynamic textfield to enlarge, but it's doing so keeping the left registration point fixed. I want to make it scale up radially outward, or with the center point fixed.

View 3 RepliesI have a stage bigger than the size of a browser, and I have a camera to navigate around the area.Now when I click on a button, I will have something pop up blocking the whole browser, like a lightbox effect with another box on top of the blocker.The problem now is, when the blocker pops up, its position is not on the TOP LEFT corner of the browser. I've tried stage.align, but it would makes the camera or other object on stage position run.So is there any other way I could get the blocker to position according to the browser, not the stage?[code]

I need to center a MovieClip, and i know how to do this, but the problem is this MC has content in it of different sizes on each frame. So when it goes to say, frame 2, the MC is no longer in the center. This is what i use:

I have a MC on stage that I dynamically add and remove elements to and from. Since its dimensions vary subject to those changes I's like to "pin-point" it to the center of my (800x600) stage. I thought it would be agood idea to get the dimensions of the MC (it's called container) and set its x and y accordingly, but somehow it won't work as I got the feeling the registration is somewhere else (and I don't get the logic behind where it is).
The code I am using at the moment is the following

View 1 RepliesI have a big movieClip which the user can zoom by click on a 'zoom-in' button. Once zoomed the user can click on that movieclip and pan it. Now the center of that movieClip is displaced and no longer where it was before. However, if the user click on 'zoom-in' now again, the movieClip should zoom from the center of the stage and not from the movieClip's center.
To put it simply, I want a formula which will zoom a movieClip from the center of the stage and not from its registration point, no matter where the registration point is.
I've ceated 18 buttons 1-18 on two rows and using the alignment tool made then all gapped the same and in line etc.
I now want to center the two rows of buttons on the stage.
I've shift clicked to select all the buttons but no matter what option I pick in window alignment I can't get it to work.
This is the code I'm using which loads in external swf's in 2 loaders, replacing each other. I just to center the main clip(tl) in the main swf, and can't figure it out![code]...
