ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Strip And Re-Skin List Component
Mar 18, 2009
I have been successful on striping certain components in flash and giving them a new skin, but now I need to strip and re-skin the list component. It uses the ui scroll bar and thats not a problem to re-skin but i need to change the background color and highlighted text of the list.
how to populate a list box component located within a seperate mc in my swf with an array... the array comes from a response from a webservice call. I am not currently on the computer with my source code available so lets just use the following....
listdata[i] = the array i want to populate the list box with..... (listdata1, listdata2, listdata3, listdata4, etc. etc.) movieclip1 = the MC within my fla containing the list box component mylist = the actual list component
... just not all that familiar with the format of actionscript when working with objects... using CS3 and as2 btw,
Is there a way to get a list of all the skin classes that are in the current application? I'm using Flex 4.5.1.
Here is the loop that I'm using now to get all the skins,
for each (var item:Object in styleManager.typeHierarchyCache) { for (label in item) { if (label=="spark.components.supportClasses.Skin" ||
[Code]....
The reason why is because I want to list all the skins in the application and then be able to apply them in real time so I can see what they look like.
I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.
I have been using a fl.controls.list object for awhile now, which is placed in an external .swf which I then load into my main .swf.
Everything had been working fine until today. Today I rearranged the .swf and moved the list to the 3rd scene in the movie.
Now whenever I get to that scene, the list crashes, with the following code. Is there something I need to to do include certain resources in that scene?
Why I have to press 2 times the arrow key down to get a navigation through the list items in a list component of Flash?
Theres any workaround for this? I have a listener for keyboard event that checks if keyCode is equal to 40 if it is then I use 'stage.focus = list', but I have to press 2 times key arrow down to start navigating through list items.
I have an elearning course, a .swf, that loads multiple .swfs as the user progresses through the course. At the end, there is a quiz. The quiz.swf uses the radiobutton component. I have developed some custom skins to use on the radiobutton component. I have figured out that:I have to add an instance of a radiobutton in the main .swf for the radiobuttons in the quiz .swf to show.I have to copy the radiobutton intance from the quiz swf library to the main swf library if I want my custom skins to show in the quiz swfWhile, this works fine. It is not practical. I want the quiz.swf to more modular. So I can pop it in to any course and not have to go back in and add the radiobutton skins to each course.
Is it possible when publishing a Flash CS4 file to have the Video swf and the Skin swf be in one swf file? I have a Flash CS4 (AS2) file that has a FLVPlayback Component. When I publish or test movie 2 swfs are output. I need only 1 swf as I am then going to insert this 1 swf into a Captivate 4 project. When I insert the video swf by itself into Captivate 4, I do not have a play bar/skin. If it is not possible to publish as one swf, how I can insert the 2 swfs into a Captivate file and get them to work?
I'm trying to insert a player on a Facebook Page tab with FBML with fb:swf. I have the following:[code]I can see the video, no problem. It plays inside a FLVPlayback component, which uses a skin (referred by /player/skinName.swf, I tried also the absolute path here). This player works perfectly everywhere else (even on an iframe Facebook application, where it's not inserted using the fb:swf tag, but with object, of course). However, I can't see the skin on the Page tab.
I'm trying to skin the Scroller in my application so that it looks like the example mentioned in [URL] This example was done in Flex 3 and images are set in CSS. I tried to create a skin for the component Scroller and saw that it uses VScrollBar and HScrollBar. I tried to put skins for these components. VScrollBar uses separate skins for the track, thumb, decrement/increment buttons. I tried to make some changes in the skin, but they were not reflected at all in the application. I just want to create a customized scroll bar in Flex 4 with custom thumbs.
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server. The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips. The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen. An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there. Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?
or
I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too. What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they, for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
I have two Lists (components) on stage. The first one (mainList populates from an XML called topics.xml
[Code]...
on event handler change, I want to load the second list on the other list component, called subList..It's not loading.. I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes). If I unquote line v.list.load("subtopic.xml"), it works, but I need it to be loaded from the XML..
I m using FLASH CS3, I used Datagrid and Combobox component from components panel, and simply add some data inside in that. setupComboBox(); function setupComboBox():void { cb.setSize(200, 22); cb.prompt = "Select a Credit Card"; cb.addItem( { label: "MasterCard", data:1 } ); [Code] ..... It seems working fine. My problem is, I want two different type of skining of two different component (DataGrid & Combobox). in the same fla. E.g if datagrid have gray color skin type and combobox have black color skin type.
I have a panel with a custom skin whose height is smaller than its hostcomponent's height. When I layout this out in a vgroup, the component's size doesn't reflect the skin's smaller size.
Is there a way to completely delegate the size of a container to the skin class?
I want to use a Spark ComboBox with numerous MX Components but the Spark ComboBox does not look the same as the MX Components. Is there a skin I can use to Skin Spark components like MX components?
I have a custom Flex 4+ component that I am trying to make and have the skin be aware of changes to a custom property. This property will determine the graphic on the button (and some other visual changes) but the data will change constantly as it will be updated by a timer.
I've looked at untold examples and still seem unable to get the syntax correct or discover how things should be separated. I've looked at overriding commitProperties and the PropertyChangeEvent without success. So I have two questions.
1) How can I get a skin to be notified of a bound property when it changes?
2) If the data for a bound property of the component is an object, will binding work properly if a property of the object changes (or would it be better to pass each property separately)?
I can see the video, no problem.
I need to get access to the buttons inside an flvplayback skin. After a bit of googling I've come across several solutions for AS2 but it doesn't seem to function in a similar way. I know skin_mc is a private function of the flvplayer but I can't for the life of me figure out how to access it as an object that retains its properties all I get back is a string with the path to the skin swf.d.
How do you set the default value of skinClass for a custom component in Flex? I've extended the DropDownList with my custom component, but I would like to specify a default skin to go with it instead of always setting the skinClass value for each instance.
I'm trying to put my components in a window container that can be closed by "x" moved on the stage, resized and so on. And I wonder which is the best way to do it. I want to use a skin class and the component class. The "solution" that is not working looks like this
How do I addElement() to the topGroup of a Spark Panel component skin? For instance, if I create a custom UIComponent, then create an associative skin that uses the Spark Panel as a default, how do I add elements to the topGroup from within the skin?
I've made a video play back (flash FLV) usng media play back components in flash mx 2004. Everything perfectly workng but i want to change the look and feel of the control buttons. I couldn't find any options for the same. Any idea. Is there any other video play back components available .

SkinParts are a great way to add event handlers and logic to an object that is instantiated in the skin, away from any business code. Often, though, I find myself wanting to do the opposite, and define parts that will be used in reusable, skinnable containers in the parent mxml files which will be inserted into the skinned containers.
What's the best practice for when you want to be able to define a control and a skin which can be reused with different controls inserted from outside the skin? Edit: A better way to put this might be that I want to use something that works a little bit like a SkinnableContainer, but that isn't limited to one area where content can be placed.
I'm using the default CS4 FLVPlayback skin, mainly the SkinOverPlayMute.swf. I know there's a skinAutoHide option, but because I don't want it to auto play, I want people to see a play button when they first encounter the video (so they don't think it's just an image). But the skin needs to hide when the video is actually playing (so the video doesn't get blocked by the controls).
In other works - when video isn't playing: skin showing; when video is playing: skin hide.
