I have a created an exe file using CS5 Flash, with multiple imports of swf files into the exe. However, the following problems occur:1. While the exe file is open, I import a swf file into the main program (exe), and when I wish to close the swf file, it closes BOTH the exe file and swf file. I have made a button to close the swf file, actionscript as follows:on (release) getURL("FSCommand:quit", true);}Is this wrong or ok? It does close the swf, but closes the exe file as well, and at the same time, and I do not want that.2. I have created a flash file that demo's how to use a certain WAP site that is already created. (HTM files with links etc.) - I would like to put this "site" on a cellphone screen in my flash movie to then be navigated as per the HTM files.
Basically is there a way i can EMBED this mini WAP site into my flash movie so that it will function as if in an IFRAME on a standard website.

I'm working on a Flash project that deals with multiple files. There is a main file that loads in individual SWF files as they click on different buttons. The course has dynamic text Fields that are populated via XML. So right now, my idea is to give each page it's own XML file? Would this be better suited to have one single XML file for all the pages, and the container file or multiple files?
Also, this is going to be a multilingual project. EDIT: The XML files will just be storing text information to populate the text fields, and some links to load in images. Also, the loaded SWFs will never be accessed without the use of the main "container" SWF.

We are mainly developing On-line web application works on Flash Movie remixer which remixes more than two flash movies (Picture In picture), SWF layers, Run-time special effects (Chroma-key, fire filter, etc.) and sound layers.This site is similar to the [url].... Recently we were having an issue that user should render the remixed movies and layers to one flash movie file (FLV format).

I'm currently working on a Flex3/blazeDS/Spring/Oracle project. My requirement is display a list of files from an external FTP server in a grid, user can select single file or multiple files to download, and if user selects multiple files I should tar the files on the FTP server and download the tar file from FTP server to user disk. As per my understanding on the File Download in Flex we have 2 ways to do it. 1) File Reference 2) Using navigateURL and call server side JSP/Servlets to download files.
1) For FileReference we need to download the data first and prompt the user to save the file by clicking on some button. We cannot prompt the 'Save' dialogue without the click event for Security reasons in Flex (Workaround). But my client hates this process because its two steps and he want it in one step like normal file download with only 'Save' dialogue. Then I tried the second option.
2) navigateURL. Open a new windows make a post url request for to JSP/Servlets and prompt the 'Save' dialogue. The problem I am facing here is the pop-up window does not close once the download is complete. navigateURL does not return any reference to the window to close the window. I even tried different content types and headers and java script but none seems to work. The window closes when it is a single file and not for the tar or zip file. I would like to download the popup window for any type of downloads. I am using IE7.

I am new flash developer, and inherited a project which has 4 fla project files. When it runs inside a browser, it appears "window" which occupies whole browser. This project is write in Flash CS3. I have few questions:
1). When loading main swf file, 3 other swf files are also loaded. These swf files are communicating with each other through message. When debug the mail swf with CS3, I can set breakpoint and the program can stop only at limited AS files. My questions is how to debug other AS files in other swf file?
2) I used CS5. It seems that I can stop at more AS files, which does not belong to main swf file. Why?
My questions is should I use CS5, which might makes debugging easier? Is it right direction to go to debug multiple swf? (For CS5, I need to fix some code in order to make the program fully working as CS3)
3) What's best tool to use for such project since CS3 is very old. Should I use Flash builder, Flex. Amethyst?

I wrote this script a while ago and it's worked extremely well for me ever since. I use it in nearly every project I do. But the other day I was asked to do a project where I could only use Flash 7.
This is a class I made to easily handle multiple file preloading by passing it an array of files to load. It only has two useful methods. One gets you the current total progress (total of all the files 0-100%) and an onLoadComplete. The actual usage is in the top of the file. It works great under Flash 8, so go ahead and use it.

Does any one have a working fla. and php script to upload multiple files (with the specified max sizes, and file types) to a server? In addition, when there is an image being uploaded, it would be luxurious to have a thumbnail of the image being uploaded displayed.There is clearly not a simple issue. Scores of designers and developers encountered problems and headaches trying to upload multiple files with and image display (if an image is being uploaded). Even my web designer has a slight problem, although he tweaked some of the code to get a simple upload. Adobe needs to address this issue because it seems that sscores of designers and developers are having difficulty with uploading multitple files.

I've made this swfContainer in which 'var defaultLoad links to the default swf... After that I've made 2 buttons that link to my swfContainer. The problem is that when I click my links randomly, the swf files just keep piling onto each other, making the site more and more slow!
How do I get my links to clear the container, while inserting a new swf file??
I've tried with both the unload and removechild functions, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I am trying to eliminate the Loader component from a project. Run locally, the Loader is sufficient to load-up the voiceover swf files that exist on many of the frames in the parent file. On the web, the short download delays at runtime due to the Loader are causing timing issues. I'm not sure if there is a way to preload multiple swfs into specific frames of a parent file so that they are available before runtime.

I have been trying to insert flash file but I keep getting error messages that:
Not Found
The requested URL /annimations/Snow.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I firstly publish flash into both swf and http files. Then, I opened view source of the http file and pasted the code onto the dreamwaever file.

The dreamweaver gave an error message that the code swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) can cause error when downloading the flash. Finally all http, swf and flash files were uploaded. But I still got the error message above. In the past, I managed to upload flash using the method above, although I did not get any message regarding swfobject.registerObject(FlashID).

I made the header and navigation links in one fla file and all the content in another fla file. I am now trying to create a third file and insert it all together in different movie clips but I have a couple problems. I am trying to copy all of the frames from the content and put it into the third fla but my computer doesn't have enough memory to perform the action (on top of numerous flash crashes). The content.fla is 100mb. I think I have optimized it the best I can, it has a bunch of jpeg thumbnails. Any advice on optimization? Also, any advice on getting the content fla into the third fla? I tried publishing it and inserting swf but I need to access frames in the content fla from the header fla.

I'm in the process of making a web page that'll successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional ([URL]), but as soon as I place in the fixit.js script under the flash object and view the page in IE, all the flash elements turn white. Quote:

I have two flash files that I would like to play back to back in the same location on my site. I would like one to play, and then when it's done, I want the other to play in its location.
I googled around and read up on the loadmovie variable, which I thought that is what I needed, but it isn't working.
To start out, what I did was create a new flash file, then I inserted an image into the timeline on its own layer, converted it to a movie clip (named pic_mc), did a fadeout effect on that image, then I created a new layer, and on the frame directly after the image, I put the following:

I then ran a test (ctrl+enter) and all I see is the fade out image, and not the other flash movie. I even uploaded the .swf to my site and tested it there in a real world situation, and it didn't work. It just fades the image out and restarts the movie.

what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.

I want to have a TV screen and hundreds of (small) flash animations load up in the 'TV'. I'm assuming I'm going to have to use Actionscript, so I'm looking into that right now. However, what would be the best way to organise this? Each "TV" will have a different set of "Channels". Do I create each 'channel' and save them as seperate SWF files, or is it possible to have them all in one main file. I can then flick through each 'channel', which essentially unloads the current animation and loads the next one

i'm making a simple portfolio site, and bringing in a series of jpeg files using a 'for' loop and the Loader class. once all the files are loaded in, i'd like to just be able to add, remove, tween, etc... the items from the stage as need-be by using instance names, such as movie clips or Sprites. but for some reason, i cannot seem to figure out how to have each image, as its loaded in, be separately accessable to me after the loop has completed.

I have a series of animations of graphs etc in different flash files. Tried to put everything on the one timeline but was getting way too confusing so thought I would put each part in a separate flash file.
What I want to do is, once one file has come to an end load the next one up to play and so on. This is all part of a presentation so the user will click the keyboard to progress to the next file.
I'm using Flash CS4 on a Mac with Action Script 3.0.

I have 2 FLA files, a "menu.fla" and "game.fla"
In my "menu.fla" I create an object of my class:
var gameEngine:Engine = new Engine();
I click on a button in "menu.swf" to load my "game.swf" into the window...
I would like to know how can I use the "gameEngine" object in my "game.swf"?
Also, I have to code that runs on a "left-arrow" key-press in "menu.fla", but I also have some code running on a "left-arrow" key-press in "game.fla".
Once "game.swf" is loaded, and I press the "left-arrow" both the code from "menu.swf" and "game.swf" executes.. I only want the game.fla's "left-arrow" code to execute?
I also noticed that "game.swf" is basically layered over "menu.swf". Is there a more efficient way to load .swf files?

I'm still working on this project and it got literally huge... at least huge enough to consume all of my 3 GB RAM memory and crash my Adobe Flash CS4. Anyway, I decided to put the site on several swf's but the problem is that I've never done that before so I have no idea how to navigate between them.
Basically I have a main swf file, inside it there's an image (let's say its instance name is "projects_btn") that should take me to "Projects.swf", and I want to click on an "x" sign (its instance name is "xSign_btn") inside Projects.swf that would take me back to the main swf file "Bnaider2.swf".

Since there's (obviously) only one instance of SoundMixer in any given file, is it not possible to run computeSpectrum discreetly on different soundfiles loaded into an application? Basically I want to visualise each sound differently. Anyone come across any workarounds?

I'm creating a trivia game with two different categories. The player can choose one category, or the other, or both together. The way I have it is three different xml files (code below).
