ActionScript 2.0 :: Load External Movies From Dynamically Created Buttonsd?

Jul 2, 2007

I'm dynamically creating buttons for review to the user. The buttons are determined from test questions that they missed and the missed questions are stored in an array called categories. There can be multiple instances of the same name inside the category array so I'm weeding them out into the holder array so that there is only one occurrence of each category. The problem lies with my onRelease section of the code. All of the buttons and labels are created fine but the buttons don't do anything

stop();
var holder:String;
var holderArray:Array = new Array();

[code]....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Loading External Jpgs Into A Dynamically Created MC?

May 18, 2009

Essentially, I've got a MC container that's created dynamically based off an XML file (basically for every <title></title> I've got, it makes a new "card"). Now within the context of each <title></title> grouping I've got <imgs></imgs> in which I specify the path to images that are related.All of that works perfectly, save for the external jpg files actually appearing on the stage. The MC I add them to does, but the external image doesn't.My problem is- I can't add the external images until they're completely loaded (or so it appears). The thumbnail BG I use is blank. So I know for a fact that the thumbnail BG isn't occluding the loaded thumbnails.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load XMLtext Into Dynamically Created TextFields?

Jun 30, 2010

I have made some changes to kirupa's thumbnail gallery, so instead of loading thumbnails into the scroller, I'd like it to load TextInput from a Node in the XML.

what I've come up with so far (simplified):

Code:

function numbering_fn(k) {
numbers_mc.createTextField("t"+k, numbers_mc.getNextHighestDepth(),20*k, 0,10,10);
numbers_mc.t[k].text = numbering[k] ;

[Code]....

in my understanding, since the loadXML function is still looping, it should create an empty TextField and then assign a .text Value to it.

Aparently it creates the required number of empty TextFields, but the "numbers_mc.t[k].text = "whatever Text";" -bite doesn't do the trick...

I want to be able to load a movies, wait till it finishes, unload that movie and then load a new movie. Kinda like a slideshow using external movies. My problem is understanding how to determine when a loaded movie has reached its last frame. I currently have this action on at the end of every movie, but it pops or gives a white flash in between movies which is not so smooth.

movie1: loadMovieNum("/media/flash/one.swf",0);
movie2: loadMovieNum("/media/flash/two.swf",0);
movie3: loadMovieNum("/media/flash/three.swf",0);

I am new here and i am desperate to have my problem solved please. I have an html page with 2 swf movies that should be playing at the same time (one shows logo of a company and the other shows at the same time the company's products). the problem is althought they are synchronized when played on my pc, when loading via internet they doen't play at same time because one is much bigger than the other and takes more time to load and play. so i thought of making a dummy swf movie that loads both swf movies and make them play at same time.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Targeting Dynamically Created MC Within Another Dynamically Created MC?

Feb 17, 2010

I'm dynamically creating movieclips with dynamically created movieclips inside them and am having trouble with targeting them.Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to achieve, in the real file there are a lot more movieclips and I'm creating and naming them with a for loop.

This one is just one Sprite created inside another sprite. I can target the top level sprite named "testname". However when i try target the nested MC it throws an error.The bottom couple of traces are just test MCs I've made to make sure i got the syntax right, on targeting nested movieclips.

PHP Code:

var holder:Sprite = new test1();holder.name = "testname";this.addChild(holder);var holder2:Sprite = new test2();holder2.name = "testname2";holder.addChild(holder2);trace(getChildByName("testname").x); //this one traces finetrace(getChildByName("testname").getChildByName("testname2").x);//this throws up an errortrace(testclip1.x);trace(testclip1.testclip2.x);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Text Dynamically With An External.txt File?

Sep 23, 2009

I'm trying to load text dynamically with an external.txt file. This works fine. The problem is formatting the test. For some reason, loading the text from an external file has complicated things a bit. Nothing formats the way I want it to...the text size doesn't even change.When I started with this movie, I had my copy in a string in the AS code and was able to format the text color, font, size, textbox width and height as well. No problems. That's issue #1.

Issue #2 : you'll notice I'm using the greensock classes to animate a movieclip (also has text in it). I'm using a mask layer over the MC. When I try running the movie, my animation works fine, but none of my text loads...and it doesn't matter if it's a text string in the code or an external text doc. I was told that I need to embed the font..which I have the code for, as you'll see below..but it did nothing.

Code:
import gs.*;
import gs.easing.*
import gs.utils.TransformMatrixProxy;

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Creating MCs To Load External JPGs Into

I'm trying to create a slideshow that loads pics (jpg) from an external folder ("pics/") into dynamically created MCs.What I want is for the script to detect how many pics are in the folder (for future changes), create as many instances of the MC, and load the pics into each one. ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Load A SWF That Was Compiled From An Fla With A Linked External Class File

Apr 6, 2009

I am dynamically loading external SWFs in a Main Fla in response to clicks on a menu.

The loading code is standard and works fine for all of the SWFs except one. When I try to load it I get the following error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.

I am certain that the URL to the problem SWF is correct. The SWF itself doesn't load any other SWFs or images. The problem SWF is linked to an external class file and compiled with it. i.e. in the properties panel of the main timeline of the problem SWF's Fla I have entered the path to the external class.

1. there is no problem compiling this SWF with the class (it works fine by itself)2. if I remove the external class from the properties panel and don't use it the resulting SWF imports without a problem into the Main Fla mentioned before So the problem seems to be the fact that the external class is linked in the properties panel. Is this a path problem?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Variable Data From An External XML File And Dynamically Displays The Item Names In A Menu - Arrays - Functions

May 18, 2005

I have been working on a Flash movie that loads variable data from an external XML file and dynamically displays the item names in a menu which may then be clicked to display other dynamically-loaded content that corresponds to the menu item that was clicked. I have now come to a standstill in the project as there is something I'd like to achieve but simply cannot work out how. This is my first attempt at working with XML in Flash and one of my early attempts at using variables. What I'm trying to achieve is; once the user has viewed the item's content, they can simply click "next" and "previous" buttons to display all of the content for the next or previous items in the XML document.

I know it probably sounds simple and I'm sure some of you could achieve this in 5 minutes (!) but I can't get my head around some of the coding. I assume previousSibling and nextSibling would come into play here as well as some sort of functions which access arrays of data for the previous and next items, but I'm just not sure how to correctly put these things to use. Rather than post my code and example images of the stage up here on the forums, I've created an html page here: [URL]
