ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Text Dynamically With An External.txt File?

Sep 23, 2009

I'm trying to load text dynamically with an external.txt file. This works fine. The problem is formatting the test. For some reason, loading the text from an external file has complicated things a bit. Nothing formats the way I want it to...the text size doesn't even change.When I started with this movie, I had my copy in a string in the AS code and was able to format the text color, font, size, textbox width and height as well. No problems. That's issue #1.

Issue #2 : you'll notice I'm using the greensock classes to animate a movieclip (also has text in it). I'm using a mask layer over the MC. When I try running the movie, my animation works fine, but none of my text loads...and it doesn't matter if it's a text string in the code or an external text doc. I was told that I need to embed the font..which I have the code for, as you'll see below..but it did nothing.

Code:
import gs.*;
import gs.easing.*
import gs.utils.TransformMatrixProxy;

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Load Multiple External Images?

Aug 26, 2010

I'm not quite conversant with classes and loading external pictures so be patient My intention is the following: a sort of slide show which dynamically loads all pictures of a certain directory and displays them one after the other. To do so I want to get the number of images of a certain diretory (img) by using a PHP script (done), then the PHP-Script sends the data to the Flash file (done) which stores it in a variable (done). I've created a class called PHPLoading for doing this (finally it creates an array which stores the links dynamically created (pictures are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg, [code]...

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Creating MCs To Load External JPGs Into

Nov 16, 2004

I'm trying to create a slideshow that loads pics (jpg) from an external folder ("pics/") into dynamically created MCs.What I want is for the script to detect how many pics are in the folder (for future changes), create as many instances of the MC, and load the pics into each one. The MCs will need to take the W and H of the pics, and line up next to each other. This last part is not as important, I'm just wondering how to determine the number of pics in the folder. Do I need XML or will AS 1.0 or 2.0 do this?

I am trying to load images dynamically to my stage. I am reading an xml file and trying to add the images0 to the scene. For some reason the image file seems to be loaded (I have put a trace "Success to check it") but when I try to addChild nothing happens. This is the code of my class followed by the code of my flash file: The main idea here is to load as many thumbnails as the xml file contains so I can play with them making a horizontal scroll.

The problem lies with my onRelease section of the code. All of the buttons and labels are created fine but the buttons don't do anything

Flex :: Flash - Dynamically Load Sound Object From Encoded Bytes?

Jul 20, 2009

I have a legacy file format that contains sounds embedded in it (in various encodings). I would like to be able to play these sounds in Flash (Air?) by reading the sound bytes out of the file and instantiating a Sound object with them.

If the sound is unencoded (e.g., raw pcm), I've found that I can use the new flex 4 SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA event to play the sound.

However, if the sound is encoded (e.g., mp3), then I'm at a loss. The sound expected by SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA has to be raw pcm. From what I've seen, encoded Sounds can only be instantiated by [Embed]ing them, or by using a URLRequest with Sound.load().

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Load A SWF That Was Compiled From An Fla With A Linked External Class File

Apr 6, 2009

I am dynamically loading external SWFs in a Main Fla in response to clicks on a menu.

The loading code is standard and works fine for all of the SWFs except one. When I try to load it I get the following error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.

I am certain that the URL to the problem SWF is correct. The SWF itself doesn't load any other SWFs or images. The problem SWF is linked to an external class file and compiled with it. i.e. in the properties panel of the main timeline of the problem SWF's Fla I have entered the path to the external class.

1. there is no problem compiling this SWF with the class (it works fine by itself)2. if I remove the external class from the properties panel and don't use it the resulting SWF imports without a problem into the Main Fla mentioned before So the problem seems to be the fact that the external class is linked in the properties panel. Is this a path problem?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Load Some Content In The Movie?

Sep 2, 2009

i am trying to dynamically load some content using actionscript into my movie but i already have content on standard layers within the movie. so everytime i start the movie and the dynamic content is loaded it loads it all on top of the content already displayed on the normal layers and i want it to load underneath the content that i have already put there myself.

for example, i have made my menu using flash and have it on a layer in the main MC, when the movie loads it loads the following script which loads the content pages of the site. but it loads it ontop of the menu therefore you cannot see the menu to view different content as it is being covered by the content pages. i would like it to load below the menu so that you can see the menu and choose what content you are to view.

this is the code i use to load the content:

Code:
menu = ["home", "about", "treatments", "products", "weddings", "testimonials"];
this.createEmptyMovieClip("content", 1000);
this.attachMovie("sectionBackground", "mask", 1001);
mask._y = content._y=-102.6;

[code]...

i have tried changing the levels values but it has no effect.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Object From External Swf?

Nov 27, 2005

I am trying to load an object from flash file A into flash file B. Both files are in the same directory. The reason i'm not just loading A into B, using loadMovie, is that A is generated by another process and has some annoying code in it which messes up my movie by loading stuff in the other _levels. The only thing I need from file A is an object inside it that has some parameters. I am working with file B and have the source code. Is there a way to just load the object I want from movie A into movie B. ? Can I use loadVariables to load and object?

Randomly Dynamically Load Images Into 4 Movie Clips

Jul 29, 2009

I am designing a website and have for locations I would like to load a random image from the same folder. Goals we'd like to accomplish with this:

1. We want images to load randomly from same folder
2. We don't want any duplicate images on the page at any one time
3. We have different size movie clips they are loading into.

Is there a way to accomplish this? What script do I use to resize the .jpg to fit whatever movieclip it's loading into and how to I tell it not to load an image that is already loaded in another movieclip?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load An External Image As A BitmapData Object?

Apr 8, 2007

I've been looking at one of senocular's rather brilliant source files, specifically the 'rising grid transition', which performs a transition effect by using the bitmapData class. Currently,it loads a variable called 'tempbmp' by using the bitmapData.loadBitmap function:

var tempbmp = flash.display.BitmapData.loadBitmap('hill');

where hill is a jpg in the library with a linkage ID of 'hill'. what i'd like to know is if this process could use an image that is not in the Flash library. Is there a way to load an external image as a bitmapData object?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Load Multiple Images To A Movie Clip On The Stage?

Oct 25, 2006

I'm trying to dynamically load multiple images to a Movie Clip on the stage. Where I am having trouble, is when I position different sized images one under another.

What I have done is, assign a variable for the position for the _y of the next image. eg. var spacing:Number = 0;

Since I'm loading the images from a XML file, I've included the height for each image aswell. This is where I am having trouble

eg. spacing += myxml.childNodes[i].childNodes; OR
spacing = spacing + myxml.childNodes[i].childNodes;
trace(spacing);

Say for example, the image I am loading is 400px high, 'spacing' then appears to be 0400 and not 400. After I load the second image, which is 500px high, spacing appears to be 0400500 and not 900.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Load Jpegs Completely Before The Movie Starts Playing?

Jun 9, 2003

Basically my code at the beginning of the movie queries the server for the file names of jpeg files that are to be loaded into sequential frames. The reason is that the user can enter file names into a database and the application plays them back without the user having to do any flash programming. Currently, my code is using a preloader in each frame along with some additional code to center the picture etc.

This is fine *but* I need all of the jpegs to load before the movie starts, not when the play head gets to each frame. I can't have any delay from one frame to the next. Delay in the beginning of the movie is ok. Can anyone help me with a method to dynamically load these jpegs completely before the movie starts playing?...once loaded they must be available for any frame to call immediately.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Variable Data From An External XML File And Dynamically Displays The Item Names In A Menu - Arrays - Functions

May 18, 2005

I have been working on a Flash movie that loads variable data from an external XML file and dynamically displays the item names in a menu which may then be clicked to display other dynamically-loaded content that corresponds to the menu item that was clicked. I have now come to a standstill in the project as there is something I'd like to achieve but simply cannot work out how. This is my first attempt at working with XML in Flash and one of my early attempts at using variables. What I'm trying to achieve is; once the user has viewed the item's content, they can simply click "next" and "previous" buttons to display all of the content for the next or previous items in the XML document.

I know it probably sounds simple and I'm sure some of you could achieve this in 5 minutes (!) but I can't get my head around some of the coding. I assume previousSibling and nextSibling would come into play here as well as some sort of functions which access arrays of data for the previous and next items, but I'm just not sure how to correctly put these things to use. Rather than post my code and example images of the stage up here on the forums, I've created an html page here: [URL]

I can't figure out why. The swf works fine on its own in a webpage and has been sitting on a website of mind for years with no probs.
