ActionScript 2.0 :: [MX] Open A Centered Popup From A Executable Presentation?
Dec 9, 2003
I'm trying to open a centered popup from a executable presentation. I'm using javascript but it opens a bigger window behind the running presentation! the presentation is fullscreen!
i'm using the centered pop up window script from: [URL]. i have multiple buttons in my flash movie which open screenshot html pages in external browser windows. the script works fine except when a popup window stays open. the rest of the buttons don't open/replace past that one popup. i tried changing the window name in the onRelease script to screen1, screen2, etc for each button, but that didn't work.
I'm using this code in Flash to popup a window: on (release) { var jscommand:String = "window.open('[URL]','win','height=550,width=830,toolbar =no,scrollbars=yes');"; getURL("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);"); }
The code is in 10 different buttons, each loading a different content for the same popup window. In Safari, if I click on the parent window and then click on another button, the popup window will come back on top of all other pages automatically, but it does not work with Firefox. In Firefox, the popup window will stay behind the parent window. I'd like for the popup window to be always centered on any screen.
How to make a centered pupup window. I kinda got it working. But when I test the movie out a blank page with the word "object" in the left corner appears behind the photo-gallery I have in the popup. When I upploaded it and tried if it would work "on the net" the button that brings up the popup does nothing.
I used the tutorial to create a centered popup window as explained in the tutorial below http:[url].... , and it worked just fine in IE and Thunderbird. What i wanted to do next was to make that popup fill the entire screen, and I did that by changing the width and height values in the AS to screen.width/height, and that worked perfectly in Thunderbird, but it doesn't work in IE.
PS. The status bar at the bottom of the window stays there no matter the value I assign it in both of the browsers; why is that?
I am trying to use a centered popup windows form here [URL] but some parameter passed to the popup seems not to work. The popup still show the address bar and the status bar under ie7 and firefox 3. I am using flash 9 and AS2.
i hate auto-launching anything. i hate popups. my client wants both. i know how to launch a centered popup with the click of a button, but i don't know how to launch a centered popup once a movie gets to a certain frame on a timeline... probably really easy,

So here I was creating an HTML menupage for a presentation that uses flash animations. I am using this code : <a href="url" target="_blank></a> Now as you seem the target="_blank" opens a new internet explorer window. What I want to do is to open my presentations into a SWF window. Is that possible?
I've been tasked with making a fairly simple Flash presentation that will be published to an exe and put onto a jump drive. I've done this before and at the time I just used the getURL command (IIRC) to open a PDF with a button click. I literally have 100's of PDFs to link to so I was wondering if there is a better way to do it (before I start using my old method) I'm using AS3 in Flash CS5. And I am NOT a big Flash user so maybe I just need to resort to the way i did it last time. Was just thinking there might be a more elegant way to approach this...that a novice could handle.
How can I create a new window such as the one that opens here when i click the "insert link" above, with fade out and one that looks as if it's in the same window ?
I am trying to get a swf to open a new window as soon as the swf is loaded by the html. I understand this is really easy but I have been flicking through several tutorials and it just doesnt seem to be working.
How should I open a popup window from a swf?My method - create another panel and overlay on the original swf.The problem is that the size of the original swf is small compared to the size of the popup window. No JS call allowed which does not allow me to use window.open javascript call.I need to be able to communicate with this popup window as well. This eliminates opening a new window using navigateToURL method.
I have different buttons to open another browser window using getURL. The problem is each button opens a new browser window. If a user does not close the window when coming back, there would be many browser windows open the same time. A few users get confused by this thinking that they are accessing the same page.Is there a way to control it so the popup will open all at the same window (if someone chooses not to close the window each time)?
Is there a way to open a new window from Flash as a pop-up (i.e. a specific size without toolbars etc.). The new window needs to hold some flash movies in AS3 which arn't compatible with the AS2 parent movie.
I have an xml file which creates some dynamic text url's in my flash movie. I would like the dynamic text which currently opens a new browser window when clicked to open a predefined size popup browser window.
I read this: "JavaScript is interpreted by the browser, so whenever you call JavaScript code from the Flash movie you'll have to embed the movie into a HTML document first."
What do you do if your document doesn't have a html file and you need to open a popup window from flash? My document is .exe ..
How to make a button which opens a pop up window(don't really knows if that's the correct name) with a image or text, centered, but the site isn't available unless I click the "x" button on that window or outside the window.
I have dynamic text in my movie that when clicked opens different image jpgs in _blank window. I would like to be able to have the blank window open at a set size so that when the link is clicked it doesn't open the image in a full window.Code:<a href='http://" + currAttribs.link + "' target='_blank'>Keep in mind that I'm not calling actual html pages but rather jpg files to open in _blank pages.
I've altered Kirupa's centered popup script a bit and it works fine unless you have a popup blocker because most popup blockers just block the window.open() javascript funciton. Does anyone know a way to force a popup window to open in flash? something like you would do on an HTML link <a target="_blank"> or something of the sort.
I am new to ActionScript and am trying to accomplish the following: In a drag and drop function, when the object is "dropped" on mouse up, I want it to automatically open a popup window for the PayPal Web site. Here is the code I have so far. How do I integrate the additional functionality into the dropIt function?
