I'm creating a Flash header for a website running on a coldfusion backend. Is there a way to create links on the menu so that only the cfm/html content beneath the banner refreshes but not the entire flash movie?
I have a stop action at the end of the movie now, but when I click on any of the menu links the entire movie replays from the beginning as the content refreshes.
I had an issue with my index.html testing on IE and the preloader just stalls on "loading 0%". he told me that locally the progress event doesn't have time to load and to try uploading it to your server and see if it works. It worked just fine. Rah Rah Kglad.
So today I'm fine tuning the swf/ fla to clean it up. Reduced some picture sizes and deleted unused files and reduced the swf from 4000 KB to 350 KB Rah Rah Gene. replaced the swf in Dreamweaver and re-uploaded with Filezilla. Rah ah Filezilla.
Everything working great and my preload went from 23 seconds to less than 3. So I'm real happy except for one small issue. Firefox and IE both do this. If I hit the refresh button, it stalls on "loading 0%" once again just like it did locally.
If I hit the refresh several times it WILL refresh randomly....2 times refresh......10 times refresh etc.

Spoke to my hosting company who said everything seems fine on the server. BTW he said Chrome did NOT have this issue Rah Rah Chrome.

The 2 swfs work fine alone. The pause,play, rewind, fastforward work great.The problem is having the 2nd swf replace the 1st. When its paused and played it begins where it was paused but then it also begins to play another mp3 from somewhere else on the timeline( to me it actually sounds like its from the swf that it had replaced).I've used

i've working in flex for some years and it seems to me it's an awesome tool. Some days ago i've had an extrange behavior in my datagrid.
I have a php service which reads a database and sends this data to felx. The service and the info saved in the dataprovider in flex are working without problems, but when datagrid shows the loaded info, it shows many cells with wrong data. The data shown seem to be mixed with other cells. I have two registers: "The lightbulb is red" and "The dog is dangerous". But the datagrid shows e.g. "The lightbulb is Dangerous" or "The dog is red". When i see the dataprovider in a breakpoint all data is correct.
But it's even much strange when I click over a problematic cell, this automaticaly changes its content to correct values.

Is there a way to have ungrouped and grouped items mixed in the same datagrid?
For example, think of a grid that lists the root items on a C: drive.
Obviously, we would want the Directory Structure to be group and expandable. But the files on the root drive would also be shown on the list, however they would not be grouped.

On the live and store pages there is a text link within the copy, any idea of how I can format that as xml tags as I'm finding that easier to control, the rest of the site mainly uses xml text just these two pages are using external .txt docs because of the urls. Surely there is a way?

i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.

I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation. I am developing a standalone flash application using xml. Its kind of a slide show. There are 100 slides and all the content is coming from XML. The problem is when ever i want to make a change i.e in XML- lets say 99th slide, i have to close the swf and run it again to check the changes in the 99th slide. Is there any option to load the xml everytime when i click next button.

But if you click on the first or fourth option, instead of going to their respective scenes it goes to then 2nd options scene. I have a file upload tool that I created in flash (as2). The file uploads images and then writes the image details to a database. However, I seem to have a problem then when I refresh the page, the upload script keeps working.And this seems to cause some issues with writing to the database when image don't actually appear to be on the server. I have fixed the issue by doing some checking to see if the file actually exists before writing to the server, but I would like to know why this happens.

We are moving to a new platform and have a flash banner on the home page that will be changing frequently with new promos, etc. You can find the flash banner at [URL]. I need to be able to update the swf file and have it immediately reflect on this new home page, but it only seems to be updating on the non-secure URL in Firefox and not at all in IE.

Is it in the HTML with the SWF or in the SWF itself?When you load a movie, variables, or a text, what you load is put in the cache of your computer by your browser. This can cause problems because if you load files, chances are that you are going to update them quite often, but Flash will look for the files in the cache, that is to say the old ones.The solution is to load your files with a unique identifier. Example:
myIdentifier=Math.round(Math.random()*10000);
loadMovie("myAnim.swf?uniq="+myIdentifier,1);
This works also with LoadVariables, LoadMovieNum and LoadVariablesNum.
how I can prevent flash from reloading when my page is refreshed? When I user clicks the search button the whole page reloads with the data they were looking for but the flash animation at the top of the page also reloads and I would like to prevent this.
