Can I not use any form of array in php when I sendandload to it from Flash? If so I'm going to be typing a lot of code in the next few days.
I am trying to create a query from Flash Builder to PHP/mySQL with selectedItems. I have a simple SELECT query set up to populate a datagrid of items I would like to select for main query (two records looks something like this "19 10","20 10"). This is where I get stuck. I don't know if I need to break down the selectedItems in Flash Builder for formatting in SQL or if I can do it in PHP.
I would assume that it should be done in Flash Builder and I would then send the partial SQL statement to PHP. As of right now, Flash Builder is holding the selected values as CustomObjects and I unsure of how to retrieve what is in the objects for formatting.

This yields an array of CustomObjets and I lost from there.I will need the resulting SQL statement would need to look something like this.

View 2 Repliesi am using Flash CS4 (AS3) + AMFPHP + MySQL to do own flash frontend for Wordpress CMS. Everything is going fine but i`ve got one problem. Problem with properly display of result of query in AS3 by using ArrayCollection.
When i check my service in "amfphp/browser/" in web browser i`ve got this (with all needed data):

I know that "result" is an ArrayCollection type but i don`t know how to get rows and columns from this. I know that my data is there but i have no idea how to get it.
how to get to Arrays and simple data variables which are in ArrayCollection.
P.S. I tried also change query type in service.PHP for mysql_fetch_query but in that case i`ve got only one row (not all data).
I'm populating a datagrid with some JSON data that came from a mysql query.I was wondering if it's possible to tell a piece of JSON data to go to a column other than the name it has?My JSON data comes in with abbreviated names...

Currently, my columns have to be named...

or do I have no choice but to make the full names a part of the JSON like...

I am refactoring some code. I have a PHP page that contains a MySQL query and stores the result in a PHP variable $my_result. This result is then echoed to a Flash SWF during embedding with SWFObject. I now want to call this PHP page that makes the query from a javascript function like so - one change I have made to the PHP is that instead of storing the result in a variable $my_result I am echoing the result. Did not know what forum to post this in as it covers different platforms and I am not requesting with specific code, but I have lost my way with a project and cannot get back on track. I am building a booking system (ar'nt we all) and it's turned into a puzzle that I can't piece together.
I have a MySQL DB with some php pages ( sql queries contained in the php to get the data) and I have some AS3 code that draws a illustration to the screen of the booking data. At the moment the illustration is drawn from data that I have put into an array. The bit I cant figure out is how do I get the data from my php sql query into the array in AS3?

I am building an application in Flex Builder 3. Yes, I know that it has an auto-magic feature to build datasheet, but that will not work. I see many Flex controls, such as combo box, can take an array as a data source.
My question, therefore, is (1) How do I send the request from my action script to my PHP form to request a record set. (2) Presuming that my dataset is in a PHP assoc array, how do I format it to send it back to Action Script. (3) How do I take the data received from the recordset, and put it inot an actionscript array, suitable for use as a data source.
I can connect to my database in PHP, and query it just fine, so I don't need help with that. For consistency, and humor, lets presume that I have the following data in an assoc array that I pulled from a database.

I need to send an array of objects from Flex to a Ruby Web service, but sending them as parameters is not getting through since they seen to come through as Objects instead of readable data.
Sending it as raw XML or JSON didn't work either so the last resort might be to send everything in a HTTP query. However, I'm not sure how to do this since the array contains objects, all of which have 4 or 5 properties, and I don't know what the right format would be.
I'm trying to run a sqlite query in flex to count the total number of records I believe its working fine but I just can't figure out how to display the results - all I get back is [object Object].

I have a slightly complex flex script, People.mxml. In the PersonAdd state, I have a form which will be used to send data to the mysql server. In that form , I have a repeater that will create a checkbox for every department in my database. When I click the Add button, I want to insert data into the people and people_departments tables.

Basically each row in my table is a different food. I have columns for basic things like description. But, I have a "ingredients" array, and "how much" array, in an array. Basically on my end I can go ingredientsArray[0] howMuch[0] to display the ingredient and how much of it. So, Id like to save both of these arrays in a cell for the row of the food. I heard I could serialize the array, and save it. But I need it to be searchable. (Also, there is no set limit to how many ingredients. So I cant like have a column for each thats why I am going the array route). I'm doing my programming in AS3, and usng AMFPHP to connect to Mysql.

I have a typical Flex-based application that was written to use a Java/Hibernate/MySQL backend. The client changed the requirements - now they want to distribute it on a CD where the user can just run the app without any installation or a network connection.
To do this, I certainly need to eliminate the web server and the database server and adapt my application (with as few changes as possible, of course) to a stand-alone application that will fit on a CD/DVD. I've managed to export the data to XML and read it into Flex, but I'm wondering if there's a way to recreate the Hibernate data structures in Flex so I could change as little code as possible. Failing that, is there any way to keep the existing Java/Hibernate external to the Flex code but retrievable without installing Apache Tomcat or MySQL?

It is supposed to load XML from an ASPX page that builds the XML from a database depending on the project ID (ProjID). If I hardcode the variable to "1" (or whatever other ProjID), it works and the correct images are shown for the respective ID. However, I can not get it to pass the ID from the URL to the Flash file. I've even tried "_root.ProjID", and a QueryString class I found through Google, as well as passing the ProjID through Param tags as FlashVars with no luck.

I am in the middle of designing a 16 x 16 grid sequencer with a row of buttons that light up and sweep across the screen as shown in the attached picture. Basically i was wondering would this be best done in flash cs5 as its hopefully going to be coded with actionScript or should i use other adobe apps like illustrator etc? I was also wondering how to get the lights to trail behind as the lights travel across the buttons?
