ActionScript 2.0 :: No Scrolling Within Movie Clip?

I am trying to modify the Tutorial on this site that contains the scrolling thumbnail XML gallery. I would like to contain the slideshow within a movie clip. While everything works fine when the gallery is created on the main timeline, the thumbnails fail to scroll when placed into a movie symbol. Im making a scrollable mc. Easiest thing in the world.... but the damn scoller just will not stop when the movie clip it's scrolling ends. It stops....eventully... but not close enough. What actionscript do I need to use and where do I put it?
I know that there are a number of threads on similar issues, but these are all confusing me quite a bit so I thought I should start a new thread to get an answer I'll hopefully understand.I have made my sight with specific diameters. I've got a heading I want to retain on all pages, but the content will change. I guess this would have to be in a movieClip as some pages the content will fit my stage, other pages will have content that is larger than the stage.I'd like to be able to scroll down through these pages which contain both text and images. I'm not sure how I would be able to set this up.
I created a movie clip that has an image on every frame. I'd like to create a scroll bar for simple and easy veiwing of the images. But I don't want a typical scroll like a UIscroll component, because I don't want the images to flow together. I just want to jump from image to image.
So I've got a website set up where there are several pages and photos mixed in and I've placed them all inside a movie clip called "content_mc". I've created a scroll bar graphic that I've placed on the bottom of the stage and turned the left arrow and right arrow into buttons called "left" and "right". Using the following code from autorial, I have the movie clip sliding to the right when you click the right arrow and left when you click the left arrow. I created a label at frame 1 called "left" and placed the following code there:
that basically moves a movieclip left to create like a scrolling horizontal effect. BUT you have to constantly click the arrow button so I was wonder if there was a way to program it so that is I hold the mousedown on that button it keeps scrolling?
I would like to simply scroll through a flash movieclip using my mouse wheel. Here is the work i've done thus far (http:url].....).Each image is a separate frame in a movie clip.I had this working in Flash AS2 but then all of a sudden the web-page started scrolling around as well when scrolling with the mouse wheel.I see there is a solution here: http:[url].....
how scroll a movie clip across the stage with actionscript rather than tweening.
Basically I have a simple movie clip that consists of around 12, text only, buttons and I want mutiple instances of the movie clip to scroll left->right across the screen, repeating itself seamlessly. At the moment I am tweening it but the file size has become unmanageable.
Here is what I want to do with the page.The boxes at the bottom will be images either embedded in the movie or loaded dynamically that scroll from left to right until someone clicks on a link above. Once the button is pressed the scrolling images at the bottom will stop and slide to a designated image and turn it from black and white to color
how to scroll a movie clip, using an up and down button with an easing effect to it?I also want to include script to the movie clip, that the movie clip will only be active when pressing on the up and down button.
I have a 3d rotating thumbnail movieclip. and I wish to be able the rotated it in both -x and +x directions. It loops, but I need to be able to controle the direction with a scrollover technique.
I have thumbs loaded via XML which scroll using a custom scroll movie clip.The problem is that when i just click on the scroll movie clip, the thumbs "jump up" somewhat, then when I scroll (drag)down, the thumbs (contained within "main_container") scroll beyond the mask until no thumbs are visible. When I drag back up, the thumbs scroll, but fall short of the first thumb by maybe three thumbs...

I have been going round and round with the problem of needing to put scrolling dynamic text into a movie clip. I have read many tutorials and forums, but just can't seem to find the right fix for my particular situation...have tried embedding fonts, using various paths, work arounds, etc.
I am editing some action script I did several years ago. I would like to use a wipe-in (mask) affect so that the text scrolls in when called, but I cannot get anything to work without the dynamic text being on the main stage...because of this, the text shows up all at once. Am creating this in a separate file to import into a holder in the main movie. I'm pretty sure this is a path issue.

If you have time, I also need to find out how to set up elements in my Main Movie to load in sequence, rather than all at the same time.
I want to do a vertical scrolling movie clip with easing with buttons. No scroll bar. I have attached a sample I have done just using _y properties. Ideally I want it to ease to the right position instead of jumping to it.
I've been trying to figure this out all day, with no luck - so I'm hoping someone here can help a girl out with her code .I'm working on what is essentially a 'character profile' page, in which you can scroll across the page to see different characters, and clicking on them will bring up a short profile.However, I've set up these different characters as separate buttons within the scrolling movie clip and can't seem to get them to activate.Here is the code I've used so far:

It doesn't work.However, using tutorials and trying different things, all I have achieved is making all the profiles appear at once, or having them activate when you press anywhere on the movie clip.In AS2, I would have used myMC.b1 to target it,
When page is loaded I can scroll it with mouse, But when I load first external movie clip the mouse scrolling function disappears. Is there anything I can do? I have search in flash mx 2004, and tryed to use // Mouse.onMouseWheel but nothing
when I leave a window with flash content, in this case, a scrolling movie clip with buttons inside set to hyperlink popups (only 1 hyperlink is set so far): [URL] the flash content will disappear. So if I go back to the window, I have to reload the page to get the flash to appear again. Same thing happens if I minimize the window, when I bring it back up, no flash, and I have to reload the page. The menubar with the boxes at the top is flash as well (different swf) and that doesn't have this problem.

I am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?
I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.
I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]
I have created a flash website, each button is a movie clip with an invisible button over it containing the following script

each page is also a movie clip and on release of a button its played. the problem is that when i press another button to play another movie clip 'page' the old content is still there.
Is there a way of reversing the page transition i have used to bring out the movie clip and then bring in the next movie clip.
There is a bad gap in my knowledge with Event Dispatch and Event architecture, and this problem proves it. I've been getting nowhere on this problem for two days, I've posted everything to my Flash site. Go here, please: [URL] Click on "Flash Banners" The two thumbnails represent two different classes. Each class is identical. Both are "extends Movie Clip" classes. Tweeners of various types control the hover and click methods. URL Loaders load the thumnails which I then wrap in MC's and make them buttonMode = true, etc. Hover and click to load the Banners on the thumbnails.
I can't send an event from the Eagle movie clip or the T2D movie clip to tell the other to fade out. Both Banner classes are instantiated through a separate Base class. I'm sure this has to be an Event Dispatch from one MC to another and that it can't be done by the Base class. how I can send an Event or Event Dispatch and what the code structure is so one movie clip can in one class can tell the other movie clip in the other class to disappear while it's neighbour is playing. I'm happy to post code or explain / clarify anything that's not clear.
I've got a main timeline .swf file called "blank.swf" which contains nothing but two blank movie clips one called called "pproduct", the other called "ppalette". In the script frame of this main timeline I use the simple "Loader = new Loader();" method to load a URL of an .swf file into the "ppalette" movie clip. The "ppalette" movie clip contains several color chip buttons, each of which use the same Loader method above to load an external .swf into a clip. Here's what I want to do: let those color chip buttons, when the "blank.swf" file loads, be used to load an .swf movie into the "pproduct" clip on the main timeline. I'm wanting to be able to swap depths with various movie clips which will take out the movie which has the palette, but I want whatever that palette has loaded in the original "pproduct" clip to stay there.
I created a movie clip which plays ok. But when it ends there is a slight jump, if you will, when it goes back to frame 1 to begin playing again. Does anyone know how to make the transition unnoticeable from the last frame of a movie clip to the first frame of a movie clip?

Q1) The registration point of a created clip is top left - my question is how can I dynamically change it's registration point - say to center center?
(I am trying to attach a movie clip to a created clip and I wanted it to be centered inside the container - a related sub-question, how can I find the x-y coordinates of the attached movie clip within the created movie clip?)
Q2)When I tried to create two different movie clips, I found I had to create them at different depths, else the first would load and the second would not. Why would that be so? I'm on MX 2004 Pro.
I have a very simple problem but I can't find the very simple solution to it. I've create an animated menu with animated movie clips inside to work as buttons. All the main buttons work perfectely but I've got just on button with a sub-menu. On this sub-menu I've placed an invisible hitarea button in order to place some gotoAndStop action. The thing is, it seems to me like this submenu hitarea are underneath something else (even though is the seccond layers right about the actions layers). I've placed a simple trace action whenever the mouse rolls over this area but I get nothing... Am I doing something really wrong? I'm losing all my hair already.
i am trying to use the Tween class to change the size of movie clip to certain height.the code works for me but when resizing the parent, it effects the child.i tried the height and scaleY property for the thum, but does not work.
