Im making a scrollable mc. Easiest thing in the world.... but the damn scoller just will not stop when the movie clip it's scrolling ends. It stops....eventully... but not close enough. What actionscript do I need to use and where do I put it?
View 1 RepliesI am building a game where I want to scroll the background horizontally as the player moves. The issue is that the scrolling always ends up choppy. The player can move at different speeds and I understand that at greater speeds the scrolling is going to look weird but even at slower speeds the scrolling "stalls" on some frames it seems. This occurs even at 60 fps (scrolling an image). I update the position each frame and I even tried using delta but still no dice. I don't have a concrete example but if you look at the scrolling in this example demo it behaves the same - the background scrolling is not smooth. [URL].

I know that there are a number of threads on similar issues, but these are all confusing me quite a bit so I thought I should start a new thread to get an answer I'll hopefully understand.I have made my sight with specific diameters. I've got a heading I want to retain on all pages, but the content will change. I guess this would have to be in a movieClip as some pages the content will fit my stage, other pages will have content that is larger than the stage.I'd like to be able to scroll down through these pages which contain both text and images. I'm not sure how I would be able to set this up.
View 5 RepliesI created a movie clip that has an image on every frame. I'd like to create a scroll bar for simple and easy veiwing of the images. But I don't want a typical scroll like a UIscroll component, because I don't want the images to flow together. I just want to jump from image to image.
Does anyone have some code or ideas for this?
So I've got a website set up where there are several pages and photos mixed in and I've placed them all inside a movie clip called "content_mc". I've created a scroll bar graphic that I've placed on the bottom of the stage and turned the left arrow and right arrow into buttons called "left" and "right". Using the following code from autorial, I have the movie clip sliding to the right when you click the right arrow and left when you click the left arrow. I created a label at frame 1 called "left" and placed the following code there:

that basically moves a movieclip left to create like a scrolling horizontal effect. BUT you have to constantly click the arrow button so I was wonder if there was a way to program it so that is I hold the mousedown on that button it keeps scrolling?
I am trying to modify the Tutorial on this site that contains the scrolling thumbnail XML gallery. I would like to contain the slideshow within a movie clip. While everything works fine when the gallery is created on the main timeline, the thumbnails fail to scroll when placed into a movie symbol. Basically I have a simple movie clip that consists of around 12, text only, buttons and I want mutiple instances of the movie clip to scroll left->right across the screen, repeating itself seamlessly. At the moment I am tweening it but the file size has become unmanageable.
Here is what I want to do with the page.The boxes at the bottom will be images either embedded in the movie or loaded dynamically that scroll from left to right until someone clicks on a link above. Once the button is pressed the scrolling images at the bottom will stop and slide to a designated image and turn it from black and white to color

View 13 RepliesI have thumbs loaded via XML which scroll using a custom scroll movie clip.The problem is that when i just click on the scroll movie clip, the thumbs "jump up" somewhat, then when I scroll (drag)down, the thumbs (contained within "main_container") scroll beyond the mask until no thumbs are visible. When I drag back up, the thumbs scroll, but fall short of the first thumb by maybe three thumbs...

I have been going round and round with the problem of needing to put scrolling dynamic text into a movie clip. I have read many tutorials and forums, but just can't seem to find the right fix for my particular situation...have tried embedding fonts, using various paths, work arounds, etc.
I am editing some action script I did several years ago. I would like to use a wipe-in (mask) affect so that the text scrolls in when called, but I cannot get anything to work without the dynamic text being on the main stage...because of this, the text shows up all at once. Am creating this in a separate file to import into a holder in the main movie. I'm pretty sure this is a path issue.

I want to do a vertical scrolling movie clip with easing with buttons. No scroll bar. I have attached a sample I have done just using _y properties. Ideally I want it to ease to the right position instead of jumping to it.

When page is loaded I can scroll it with mouse, But when I load first external movie clip the mouse scrolling function disappears. Is there anything I can do? I have search in flash mx 2004, and tryed to use // Mouse.onMouseWheel but nothing
View 14 Replieswhen I leave a window with flash content, in this case, a scrolling movie clip with buttons inside set to hyperlink popups (only 1 hyperlink is set so far): [URL] the flash content will disappear. So if I go back to the window, I have to reload the page to get the flash to appear again. Same thing happens if I minimize the window, when I bring it back up, no flash, and I have to reload the page. The menubar with the boxes at the top is flash as well (different swf) and that doesn't have this problem.

If I scroll by clicking with the mouse on the scroll bar and trying to scroll with the mouse wheel after that, there is a problem: The interval of the scrolling is oversized, instead of scrolling one item down (or up) the List scrolls 4 items down (or up).

This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?
I have been working on a site that will display a portfolio for a friend of mine who is a photographer. I want to have thumbnails that can be scrolled on the bottom of the page, and an area where the thumbnail is presented when selected. I have the thumbnails appearing. Im trying to animate a scrolling background which is simple enough. I dont want the background animation to scroll when the game is first loaded, I only want it to begin scrolling after the play button is clicked.
Ive used stop(); command in the first line of the MovieClip instance that is the back ground.
Some things I have tried
- Coding in flash to scroll the background, add a check to see once the background reached a certain x.position on the stage, it would addChild the same instance, where it originally was located and repeat the scroll process. I couldnt get this work, but would be intersted to see how you guys would approach it.
-Tried using a gotoAndPlay(2); in the movieclip last key frame to repeat the process. This causes the animation to chop up. I tried using this several diffrent ways, I could get it work at one point. But the background would scroll before the button was even clicked, I couldnt figure out a work around.
