Feb 14, 2009I've a dynamic text field, populated from an external file,and with a scrollbar. I'd also like it to respond to mousewheel or trackpad scrolling. I have tried setting mouseWheelEnabled to true,but that doesn't seem to do the job (and seems to require clicking the field anyway). What else should I be looking at? Would I also need so listen for the mousewheel or scrolling event?

Nov 9, 2011show me an example of a horizontal mouse scrolling of a movieclip using the mousewheel?I have code that makes content scroll vertically and i have changed it to be horizontal. The scrollbar works but the mousewheel listener does not. so far it only moves one direction. It seems the delta property only works vertically.

Jun 23, 2009Has anyone got some nice clean code that; scrolls a movieClip left and right when the mouse is over the left or right part of the stage. When the movieClip comes close to the end, it should slow down rather than abruptly stop.Basically, I have a really wide movieclip full of pictures. I want the user to be able scroll through it by just moving the mouse left to right.

It contains a movieclip with thumbnails on it and a left and right button that scroll the thumbnails back and forth. It uses easing to move to each position. It also disables the buttons while the movieclip is scrolling to prevent throwing the movie off alignment. What I'm trying to accomplish is to give the scrolling feature endless scrollability. I have duplicated the slidebar to reposition whichever one necessary to be next in line as the user scrolls through. My code seems to be working but not very well. Sometimes I see one of the slidebars shoot accross the screen to it's correct position, sometimes you have to wait a couple seconds for it to move over. It's acting very quirky. I'll post the .

It contains a movieclip with thumbnails on it and a left and right button that scroll the thumbnails back and forth. It uses easing to move to each position. Mar 1, 2004Look at e.g. [URL]. When the site loads, the section in the middle contains a scrollbar that scrolls the text with easing. However, the scrollbar itself appears to be the scrollbar component from Flash itself. Is this something that is maybe readily available in MX 2004? Or should this be scripted manually?

Jul 1, 2008This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?

Jun 1, 2010I'm just fine tuning my flash site and am trying to get my custom scroller to scroll my text smoothly.
Basically I am using scrollertext.scrollV [URL] to scroll my text inside a function but scrollV is an int and flash performs vertical scrolling per lines. My text is quite large in some areas and the scroller is very 'non smooth'. How else can I achieve a smooth scrolling effect (would be nice to scroll in pixel values not line values) ?

Actionscript 2 :: Clickable Links In A Scrolling HTML Enabled Dynamic Textfield In Flash Movie - Works In Flash Pro Not In Browser?
Dec 13, 2010I have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.

Scrolling The Timeline Glitch?
Jul 8, 2009I'm trying to create a scrolling timeline using a very (horizontally) long image and a scroll thumb that can be dragged right and left. When I first open the .swf file, the position of the image is correct (the far left side is on the stage). But once I click on the thumb and release it, even if I don't drag it, the image jumps as if it was dragged and suddenly I'm looking at another part of the timeline. When I drag the thumb all the way to the left, it can't go any farther left to the beginning and it's just stuck at where it jumped, but I can drag the thumb more to the right and see more of the timeline perfectly fine. Also, when I scroll all the way to the right, the timeline goes past its end and then there's blank white space. There's obviously some space missing at the beginning that should make up for that blank space at the end.
why it jumps like that and why I can't drag it back to the beginning of the timeline. In fact, I used this exact same code for another project and the timeline worked perfectly fine. All I did was use a different image for this one. I'm completely stumped on this.
