ActionScript 2.0 :: Sequentially Play External Video SWFs Loaded Into The Main Timeline?

Feb 14, 2008

how to sequentially play external SWFs loaded into the main timeline?

I have several SWF files with short videos embedded in them. I wish to load these external SWF files into my main timeline as follows:

User Presses Button -> Play Video Clip in External SWF#1 -> Once Video Clip in External SWF#1 has Finished -> Play Video Clip in External SWF#2.

I tried achieving this by adding: var endmovie:Boolean = true; to the end of each video clip inside the external SWFs (e.g. 1.swf) then cycling through an if statement in the main timeline to see when this condition was meet:

ActionScript In Main Timeline:

Code:
var mc_Loader = new MovieClipLoader();
mc_Loader.addListener(this);

[Code].....

How is the best way to go about achieving this? Am I on the right track? (By the way, using .FLV or one long external SWF file is not really an option due to long loading times...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Control Multiple External Swfs From Main Timeline?

Jun 26, 2011

I've been trying to combine the features of two tutorials I found, one that deals with controlling external swf's from the main timeline and the other that explains how to load and unload multiple external swf's. I'd like to be able to load and unload multiple external swf's, and control these swf's buttons from the main timeline

I asked this same question on the forum of the site where I found these tutorials, and receive only one reply saying that "it shouldn't be hard to do." but they did not elaborate any further. This left me think that I was missing something very obvious and I've spent too much time now trying to work what it is now. I understand pretty much how both pieces of code work, but just can't work out how to combine them.[code]...

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading External Swfs With Buttons (that Are Not On Main Timeline)

I just don't know how to target it. I'm trying to load an external swf, when releasing a button. The problem is the button is not on the main timeline, but instead nested in a movie clip. I just don't know how to target that button. I tried loading the swf with a button on my main timeline and it worked, so I know the problem is not with the movie clip loader class or the actual swf itself. I actually learned this from a note midway down the page in one of your tutorials..... [URL] how can i target that button that is nested in that movie clip?

ActionScript 3.0 :: CS4 - Communication Between Loaded External Swf And Main Timeline?

Feb 4, 2010

I'm having issues with an animation and need to get it functioning properly. I've posted two example/demo files to illustrate desired functionality.The main timeline (testMain.swf) consists of a loader, section/slide one content, and a button (bttnClick) set to load an external swf (external.swf).

external.swf contains two additional sections/slides and two 'next' buttons (bttnEnter with 'bNextOne' & 'bNextTwo' instance names) to navigate. When the second 'next' button (bNextTwo) is clicked I need the loaded external swf to fade out revealing the original main timeline (testMain.swf) and returning/stopping playhead at the 'slideOne' frame label. Does the external swf need to be unloaded even though users will most likely go back to it? Whats the best way to handle this?

If you could assist with the external swf fadeout to main timeline, the return to 'slideOne' frame label, and insight as far as the best way to return to the external swf.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Getting An External Swf To Be Loaded On A Page In Main Timeline?

Sep 25, 2011

I'm about 10 hours deep into getting an external swf to be loaded on a page in my main timeline. I've gotten as far as loading the external swf (within the first few hours) hahah but now, have spent twice as long trying to get the external swf to be removed when a person navigates to a different page of my main timeline.

I have a videoplayer on one frame which is my "video" page. I've gotten the external swf to load two different ways, for example, the latest code i am using to load the external is below and seems so nice, clean and simple:

var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("VideoPlaylist_HV.swf");
var loader:Loader = new Loader()
loader.load(request);
addChild(loader);
loader.x = 180
loader.y = 50

But I would like to add a function that says on any mouse click event (navigation) close the swf that is loaded.

If any of you genius people out there can help me, please do. I thought getting it to load was going to be the hard part but I was wrong. I am very discouraged by Actionscript in general.

download what i have so far, i left alot of the content out so the file size isn't big. And yes, i am sure once you see how I work you will be sure that I am no flash expert. I can send a link to the .flas, the site won't allow me to post the link as I am new.

ActionScript 2.0 :: External Mc's Loaded Sequentially?

Jun 4, 2007

I have a 3 frame movie clip called "morePix" shaped like a forward arrow. The morePix.onRelease() function loads an external movie using MovieClipLoader(). When the movie loads a back arrow comes up. Eventually I will have about 5 external movies loading into this MovieClipLoader() and I will want the forward and back arrows up until I get to the last movie. I'm trying to figure out how to create a loop or an array to load these movies. I hope that makes sense. It seems easy but I'm stuck. Here's the code I have so far...

morePix.onRollOver = function (){
this.gotoAndStop(2);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading External SWFs From Another External Swf Into The Main SWF Container?

May 4, 2011

I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.

It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. Dont worry the site is easy to apply to any screen resolution.I have been looking everywhere for any soul out there who suffering from the same problem but no success. Is it possible to script a button in the main movie to launch two separate movies in their own contents?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Control The Timeline Of Externally Loaded Swfs?

Jul 25, 2011

I am trying to load multiple swfs (one at a time) using one loader and pause/play the loaded swfs using a button.  I have gotten the swfs to pause/play, but all except for one will delete itself upon resuming.  I made the loaded swfs in Captivate.  Each Captivate swf is made up of multiple Flash swfs, each on its own slide.  When the swfs delete, they only delete the currently playing slide's swf and then the next slide's swf will appear and play when the timeline advances to it (but will also delete if paused/resumed), but the playbar will show that the swf has been successfully paused and restarted and will continue along with no swf showing.

Here is a short version of my code (becuase the original has 8 swfs to choose from):

function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}//HERE STARTS THE ATTACHMENT BUTTONS REFERENCING FROM THE mainMC
var ansaldoButton:DisplayObject =

ActionScript 3.0 :: Timeline Control Of Externally Loaded Swfs?

Nov 2, 2009

I have a set of SWFs loaded, and have successfully added them to the stage, and can assign basic methods ( gotoAndPlay(), stop() etc..) based on MouseEvents. I can't quite figure out, however, how to assign methods based on frame number or label, triggered by labels on the currently playing SWF timeline. So, for example: externally loaded swf starts playing, and a listener is set up to listen for a "stop" label, which would activate stop();I can obviously just drop a stop(); in the timeline of the loaded swf, but I am really trying to banish all code from timelines, period.

I could set up a frame-based listener to decide if a label exists at the current frame, and then to evaluate if that frame label == "stop"... but that seems pretty messy, and because it has to run at every frame, CPU heavy...So - the question is really about listeners, I guess. What event would I listen for? Something like a MouseEvent - but ... a LabelEvent instead Obviously - this doesn't exist, but something like it would be perfect. tions scattered here and there isn't that big of a deal

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preloading Multiple SWFs Into Cache And Playing Them Sequentially?

May 17, 2008

I've tried endlessly to make sense of the solutions that other people have posted. But I cannot seem to get any code to work my my purposes, so I decided to post my own thread.I have a main parent Flash movie that I need to load 7 exteral SWFs into. Each of the SWFs is like its own scene in a longer movie. The external files are called:

mc1.swf
mc2.swf
mc3.swf
mc4.swf
mc5.swf
mc6.swf
mc7.swf

The final parent movie should play each external SWF movie sequentially so that it appears as one combined movie (so none of the loaded SWFs are actually playing at the same time - they should only play one at a time, one after another).I want to preload mc1.swf, mc2. swf and mc3.swf into the cache before the parent movie starts playing(and I would like to include a progress bar to indicate loading status). Once those SWFs are preloaded, I would like them to start playing sequentially while the rest of the SWFs load in the background.

Basically,I have a long Flash animation that I decided to split up into several individual movies.I've using the parent movie to seamlessly string together my individual movies to give the appearance of cohesion.I have determined that I should use the MovieClipLoader Class and loadClip() to accomplish what I am trying to do.However, I have a very limited knowledge of actionscripting, so this has been a major challenge for me.

I am optimizing the parent SWF for the web, and it's important that the video plays seamlessly, so I cannot put individual preloaders onto each external SWF. They have to preload at the beginning so that when each individual SWF is called, it's already loaded and no preloader is required.

ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label start not found in scene Scene 1.

and I understand why I get the error because the frame label start isn't in that external flash file it is in the main one. However, I just don't know the correct AS3 to get this to work properly.

Actionscript 3.0 :: Control External Swf's MCs From Main Swfs Buttons?

Is it possible to control a movie clip in an externally loaded swf from a button in your main swf? I have 4 buttons in my main swf. In the externally loaded swf there are 4 movie clips all with their alha set to 0. What i'm trying to do is when the user clicks button 1, movie clip 1 one the external swf changes its alpha to 1. Then if you press button 2, movie clip 1's alpha returns to 0 and movie clip to 2's alpha changes to 1.

The, buttons need to be in the main swf as there are over 20 externally loaded swf all with 4 movie clips and I cant make those four buttons in each swf and also, the 4 buttons are intergrated into the graphics on the moan swf.

ActionScript 2.0 :: One Main Preloader For Multiple External .swfs?

May 2, 2005

I've tried to approach this from several angles, employing several of the tutorials, attachments found in various threads, etc, and nothing has worked. So, please bear me as I ask yet another question regarding this subject.I need to preload 2 external .swfs, one containing animation and one containing sound, and I need them to start playing at the same time. As of now I have a general preloader on the main timeline, but as you might expect, after the preloader finishes, there is a lag while the .swf's are being loaded.thought everything was solved, until a friend of mine looked at it in dial-up, and the preloader just kept looping 10 times before the animation started, so now I'm starting over. Part of my complication I believe is that I'm using loadMovieNum into levels as opposed to loading the external .swf's in a separate container MC (that's what I've noticed most people recommend for this problem), but I tried doing that technique several times with no luck. Right now my main movie, index.fla, has a preloader MC in the first frame, with this AS attached to the clip:

Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loading = _parent.getBytesLoaded();
