I have this simple counter I cannot get it to work! I just need it to start at $0 and increase by $0.31. So it would look like this $0 - $0.31 - $0.62 - $0.93 - $1.24 and so on. And also it would do keep going when it hits $100.31 - $100.62 so forth!

I am using the attachMovie script in as2 and I want to use a counter variable to increase the depth each time so it doesn't replace the last one. Every tutorial i've seen for attachMovie mentions this but I can't find any information on how.
Also is it possible to use a different counter variable to change to y position of the attached movieclip, so that it adds another beneath the last every time.
Working on a simple score counter for my young son -- the idea is to simply add or subtract 1 digit to reveal the score. The variables only need to be 0-9 in each column. Can someone advise on how to make this work correctly? The animation was developed using a root.xxxx +1 or -1. It does the trick but as you can see, it keeps going into the double digits in each column.

I'm trying to do a simple word counter that counts only unique words. So every new word in the inputWordArray gets added to a wordBankArray, but words that have been used previously would be ignored. I've got something that feels really close to be done but I think I need some kind of switch or break somewhere to keep it from adding on to the end of the array.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

Flash is not in my toolset, but I am an old Director jock and have spent some hours dipping my head into the Flash manual. I suppose that makes me a promising beginner-level poster. I'm working in CS5.
I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.

View 3 RepliesI would like to make an .exe file that shows a starting number (that I would designate in the code), and then every 30 seconds, it adds 1 to that number. So for example, the exe begins by showing "11,057" on the screen, and then 30 seconds later, that number changes to "11,058", and so on. Is this possible? How do I do this? I wish I could find an .fla that does this so that I could understand everything from setting up the text box to show the number to assigning the actionscript code to make that number change.
PS - I need this counter to run as an .exe file on a Windows 7 computer that will not be connected to the internet, so code that requires PHP or running on a web server won't work. But an XML file called from the .fla would work, because I could keep the XML file in the same folder as the .exe on the computer.
Is there a way to put a hit counter into a flash video? Or is that something that would need to go into the HTML file? Also I need it to be invisible, but be able to check it somehow.

View 3 RepliesI'm working on a simple todo app that has a column for each day of the week. On startup, the app checks to see if there are any incomplete tasks from before the current date. If so, they're moved to the top of the current date's column. The app is cloud-based, but the tasks are backed up for offline mode with an SQLite db. I can easily move the tasks by updating their date property, but I need the order property of each task to increment starting at 0 to place them at the top. I need to be able to define a count variable in SQLite alone and increment it with each update that's performed. I know this code doesn't work, but it's an easy way of explaining what needs to be done:
